On the subject of Key Forward;
I wonder if we could be better off going for much more mobile talls in the forward line, rather than hulking gorillas. I am talking about players along the lines of Fyfe, Morabitto etc, but with more of a forward focus. A little taller than Mayne, a lot more nimble than Cloke.
My theory is this; unless the gorillas are genuinely good (which we are unlikely to get at our selections), then their production is pretty average. No problem with average by the way, but we just saw Geelong get punished for a gameplan built around kick it long to the big guy. I am suggesting a forward line with players like Marsh, Mayne, Morabitto alongside someone like Taberner and a ruck. Those guys pushing up the ground and turning their opponents could be pretty interesting.
The other thing is that a lot of defences now do not have match-ups for that kind of set-up.
There has been long term thoughts about Mora eventually ending up there - he may still yet after a few years developing in the mid. Fyfe may also end up there in the future - we all know his contested marking ability, something Mora would need to develop further if he progresses there. Both have great tanks and with even more kilo's at the appropriate time will be gorillas whilst they should still be extremely mobile. Apart from our need for a clear Pav replacement we really aren't that bad off from a Forward point of view, remembering Taberner and Hannath (F/R) development.
IMO KPD are our greater concern, with Macca retiring soon (hopefully we get at least 1 more year) and MJ (also ZacD) getting older.
