Can we get some discussion happening on some key forwards for the Dees? It's looking likely we will take Scully and Trengove with picks 1 & 2 as they are out and out guns, which leaves our third pick for a key forward. I like the look of Matthew Panos but will he be available by then?
Our forward line will be incredibly raw next year, particulalry if we palm Miller off somewhere. A bit of agro would also be handy in the forward line.

Everywhere. Watts and Jurrah to come out and jumper punch their opponents before the bounce of the 1st round. Melee fines for everyone in the first week. Just for a laugh.

Watts and Jurrah with Bate as a 3rd tall.

People need to remember that Trengove is a very good overhead mark and can be a good marking target while resting up forward, not saying he is a KPP but he could be more than just a danger in the midfield.

Panos is a possibility at 18.

Vardy at 18 would be an awesome dream.

Jurrah is the next full forward of the MFC.

Watts will be able to play FF/CHF/wing. He will have he ability to stay at home in the goal square and kick a bag.

Petterd the wild card. Phenomenal overhead and a real warrior.

Bate will just get better as the team develops.

And throw in guys like Martin/Garland/Sylvia who will all be able to give us targets up there.

But make no mistake, the Watts/Jurrah combo is going to be devastating combo like the days of Lyon/Jakovich.

How do you know that?

Resource please. Sounds like you have evidence from the club's recruiting staff. Am I right?

If not, Butcher is still possibility at Pick 2.

Butcher/Watts combo will be even more powerful adding Jurrah as third tall at FF and Bate as third tall at CHF rather than just Jurrah/Watts combo.

Jurrah is NOT a KPP.

The Scully/Trengove combination delivering the ball lace-out to the Jurrah/Watts/Bate combination is a hell of a lot better.

Jurrah is NOT a KPP.

Jurrah can quite easily be a KPP, give him a pre-season to bulk up and he could definitely play as a KKP.

G'day Dez, :)

Your idea on Scully and Trengrove combo: I agree especially midfield is strong. However, Butcher is more required than Trengrove. Remember, we have Scully already.

Too many midfielders means players are in so much pressure trying to maintain their top 22. A good example is you have left Davey out of your best 22.

Butcher can slot in our Pick 22 with ease and create less hassels in terms of midfield selections.

I don't know about Jurrah as a KPP as you have described. Sounds like you have this magical "crystal ball" knowing this.

I would love to see this if that's the case :)

Do you seriously need a resource to confirm Trengove is looking more likely than Butcher right now? Agree on Jurrah not being a KPP though - not that he couldnt do it if required.

This thread hasnt yet approached trading for young kpp at other clubs rather than getting one through the national draft (which appears limited this year).

Are there any targets out there we could offer our third pick plus a decent player for? I personally like Lewis Johson from Sydney.

butcher is the key... we have a great midfield base because we'll get scully, and we have grimes, blease strauss davey morton moloney sylvia jetta mclean and jones... aswell as others were guna draft... we have ample ball users, but the last thing we want is to be left with the neitz/robbo situation... jurrah will be awesome as the 3rd tall, and watts is going to be a better CHF than FF in my opinion... so butcher is the full foward option we should end up with...

blease would have been rite up there at the top of this draft had he not gone last year... we can definitely get another great midfielder at pick 18... butcher just makes more sense to me, kid is guna dominate afl for a long time

Bate is not going to get any better. He has been at the club for 5 years. Has never beaten a good player. Wll always remain at beat a third tall.

I'd go for the Scully/Trengove option rather than get Butcher. As already stated, Trengove has the ability to play as a forward.

We'd also most likely get one of Panos or Carlisle with our 2 round pick. One of them will more than likely be there for our pick 18.

We need to draft best available, and that's Scully >>>>> Trengove >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> next best. They are the 2 clear stand outs.

Anyone heard anything positive about Ben Griffiths? Would he be someone we would look at around then? I have a feeling Panos will go around 6-12.

Yeah, hopefully Panos slips through, and Talia might as well given his recent hamstring injury.

I also agree with Tommy on his final point. Sure, Butcher would fill a need very nicely, but Scully and Trengove are simply better footballers. It would kind of be like choosing a good KPF over a great midfielder based on requirement.

Disagree.

If playing with quality players, he will shine.

If he is on the end of a top shelf midfield, he will be awesome.

He has had pressure on him from Day 1 being basically the focal point across half forward and inside 50.

He will kick 50 goals a season when we are up and running.

Guys are we talking 3-4 years time? Watts wont have any impact next year - and whom ever we draft wont have an impact at all. So lets get real ... Im not looking at 3-4 years down the track i want to know what we are going to do next year

Any thoughts on trading our pick 18 for a developing kpp at another club? There seems to be a plethora at Adelaide and ones like Thorp at Hawthorn.

I'd like to hang onto that pick 18 and get a decent tall let over from the 1st round. Someone like a Carlisle, Griffiths or Hill.

There's a bloke available in the Pre-Season Draft who already does kick 50 odd goals a season....

I worry about how we fall down at half forward time and time again. We've only ever looked good in recent times when Miller has been on his game as a leading centre half forward.

Watts, being so athletic, will develop more into a CHF in my opinion. I don't want us to have a Western Bulldogs-esque midget forward line but I'd rather us lack height at the FF line than the HF line.

We will probably aim for a tall with our 3rd pick in the draft.

It was good to see Stefan Martin try a few things today but he still looks very awkward and clumsy.

i reckon we should go for Thorp not with pick 18 but maby with another pick plus a player like Bell
