Good news for the giants, i expect like the GC they will only lose a handful every year and nothing like the mass exodus some media have suggested.

Thats great news for the Giants you dont wanna be losing top 5 picks early on, or ever but still sometimes its unavoidable.

It really is amazing that they've managed to keep all of their recruits, I thought Tyson and WHE would definitely return to Victoria next season.
They will lose some at the end of 2013 when their first contracts run out similar to GC with hickey/caddy

I can't think of any of their top recruits who have not extended their contracts (possibly Liam Sumner but he was injured most of last season), they've signed them all up.

To say they will keep everyone is just as naive as to say there will be a mass exodus imo.

I'm not sure on their contract situations but 1 or 2 will leave.

Yeah they've resigned every player they recruited from the 2011 draft except Nick Haynes (never understood why they drafted him in the first place, might not even be offered a new contract) and Liam Sumner (very talented but injured last year, VIC poachers will most likely be after him.)

I think in a couple of years Patton-Cameron in the forward line is going to be a two-headed monster that cannot be contained.
Yes I have great fear of this too. Cameron is a freaking star and if Patton lives up to his billing, lord help the defenders going up against them.

Adams and Downie. :)

Out of the ones left off contract, Sumner and Hampton are probably the two I most definitely want back. I think the club rates Adams, Edwards and Phillips quite highly as well. I suspect a lot of the kids who aren't getting games will be on the chopping block simply because of list management (Schulz, Whiley, Aylett).

I knew I was missing one with Adams, I think you'll have no trouble getting him to extend his contract and if Aylett (seems all the NSW zone players are in a bit of trouble) is on the chopping block we'd be more than happy to take him off your hands!

Aylett (IMO) was the most promising of the NSW kids (I like Bruce as well), but recovering from the ACL really put him behind the eight ball and with so many kids there's just going to be some unfortunate ones missing out.

this is where the whole concessions thing is really bullshit for me.

port came into the league with moderate but fair concessions and we recruited a fair core of our team from the sanfl. fair enough it was different back then, and alot of the state talent is drained compared to back then but we took alot of players from our home state that were never figured to be guns and they turned into stars and/or mainstays of the club.

because gc/gws were given so many 1st round picks alot of their homegrown talent isnt going to be nurtured in the same way. they will be the far too made up of interstate players, and i think that has some affect on how the public engages them.

I actually didn't get the hype around Nick Haynes..I reckon he could be gone this year unless he produces some good numbers, he would've lasted to the 14th pick. They might be regretting picking him over Longer. Sumner is very talented, one of the most beautiful kicks of the footy, once he puts some muscle on, look out.
