How about this for a hypothetical forward line!

Astbury Taylor Reiwoldt

Darling Deledio Griffiths

Post can go from the to Griffiths posie when Griff pinch hits the Ruck

I think Astbury can play down back due to his agility/

I like Astbury deep due to kicking for goal but he easily could play on the CHF line. Astbury appears our most versatile KP player on face value

Ummmm...why are the two smallest players in the key position positions? And why is Lids forward in the first place?

By the way conventional CHF and FF is for amateurs.

It is time for us to play ball in about 5 years time and kick some AFL butt

Does Westhoff look like he may be able to play FB. I know a lot go on about Gourdis and I hope you all are right but are there other options.

I think Postie is forward material but it comes down to him working his calves and thighs getting his balance and strength through the core and power speed right!

Once this happens we will have a better idea the positional prospects for Postie I believe!!

:)I WAS fully in the Post at centre half forward camp pre-season and was pretty harsh on hardwick being so committed to playing him at centre half back.
But what I have seen thus far from Astbury and Griffiths - together with the continued development of Riewoldt - I am thinking those three have the key tall forward roles stitched up.
Post and Gourdis should be given every shot at being the two tall key defenders.
Exactamondo, I agree with everything.

Westhoff is a one grab forward - he's not overly quick - more loping, but he elevates really nicely and they all stick. He's a quicker thinker than he is a mover - but I fear he's too limited to make it. If he bulks up, does he lose more of his already limited mobility?

I wouldn't have thought a bloke with not much pace off the mark would be a viable option for FB.

We should be playing Post where he will be best, and suit our structure - but learn where that is and teach him to play there now. Otherwise this confusion he's going through will continue for longer than just this season.

to me we lack a quick leading big bodied strong overhead ff imo this could be gourdis if he makes the grade we need to cover this area just in case he doesnt.
Griffiths claw. Tick, tick, tick.

Get games into all of them is right though. Jumping Jack and Big Ben are definitely forwards but try the rest out in various positions. Post might be a classic swingman. Astbury has the attributes of a fine key defender. Goo might end up a hard-running CHF.

I have never heard of Griffiths playing ruck though. Keep him away from that shit.

To be perfectly honest, I still have no idea. Has all the attributes to be a good forward but doesn't seem settled down there.

He has shown signs in defense but has yet to nail it down.

I'm sure as he develops it will become alot clearer. For the moment I'm happy for him develop in the forward line.

Exactly this.

With Riewoldt, Astbury, Griffiths, Post and to a lesser extent Vickery we have quite a few long term KPF options. As it stands now though, only Riewoldt is a certainty to make it (on this years form he already has "made it").

You can't have a forward line that tall, which means between those four, if they are all to be in the best 22 then atleast one of them has to go back into defence or play through the middle. Griffiths at 200cm might also pinch hit in the ruck at some stage in his career but probably only in emergancies, and I like the look of him forward. Astbury looks good as a KPF but supposedly is able to play both ends.

CHB, FB, 3rd tall defender are still not secure for the future. McGuane is probably safe as atleast one of those options and at this stage is the best defender we have. Thursfield could also play FB/ third tall, Moore probably isn't a long term option for a key post, but has been good as a second/third tall giving some rebound.

Post will probably play where we need him most, but has plenty of time as he's a big boy and will take time to fully physically develop, he's still only 19 or 20 I think.

It's clear that JR is a full forward (and a damn good one at that). Nothing else is settled yet in the KPP stakes. Astbury is clearly class, but may well have the verstatility to play the swingman/fireman role. Griffiths looks a lead up forward, which gives Hardwick the option to play him out of the square next to JR or trial him at CHF. Posty has shown he can take a big mark, but his ground level play is still in the questionable basket. (He will be given time at both CHF and CHB it seems.) Gourdis has shown tantalising glimpses, but there has not been enough senior game time to get a proper fix on his potential. Rance does not have sufficent aerial ability to be a KPP (but may well be an excellent bullocking forward).Thursty still looks our best bet at FB, but hasn't really delivered on his early promise as yet. Moore is not a KPP (but a very handy flanker), while McGuane is an extremely useful 3rd tall.

Hardwick has already said that he will not be able to settle the side until the beginning of next season. Therefore, the next 12 rounds will be a dress rehearal for next season. It's wait and see time...but my guess is that Posty will end up at CHB if he makes it.
