If Richards is going to be any good we have to start trusting him with the ruck duties. He is a ruckman and nothing else.

Brent Harvey is the danger man as we don't have Holland to run with him. I hope Licuria is given the tagging job this year starting this Saturday on Boomer.

Grant is another one to watch - Clement may get the job as it's quite a big one, and he will still be able to rebound effectively as Grant isn't a close checking player.

Petrie on Cloke will be a pivotal matchup, if Cloke can get on top our forward line will function quite well as I think we can win the other positions.

Our midfield will still be led by O'Bree, Johnson and Swan but Pendlebury and Heath Shaw in there this year will give us some extra run and freshness.

Gunna be a much closer contest than last year.

IMO, Shannan Grant will be the Kangas go-to forward this year. Look out for a huge season from him, almost Brad Johnson-esque. And he has the skill to pull it off too! Go with Clement on Grant, Lonie on Jones, Presti on Edwards, Maxwell on Hale and Lockyer on Thomas. Josh Fraser might be able to fill a hole in your D50 this game coz McIntosh won't hurt you too much around the ground. It all depends on Whether Malthouse will want to use Fraser forward or not.

Never thought I'd say I agree with a Bombers supporter but I do with these backline match ups.

FWIW, I think we'll play all 3 of Josh, Richards and Bryan.

Josh, Pebs and Trav as our Tall forwards with Neon, Medders and Daisy.

We need to give Richards the chance to shine. If he doesn't then punt him at years end. I hope he plays against the Eagles in round 2 and hope the challenge of playing against Cox will make him lift. Just ruck and tag Cox that's it.

Clement to take Grant. Jones will ostensibly play CHF and is now very vital to our ability to kick scores. Clement an option there. Jones would maul Lonie.

Forgot about Johnson. Rawlings will definately take him.

Brady is just like Clement. You can go to a game almost certain his opponent will have very little impact on the outcome, and Johnson smashed us in the NAB cup, breaks lines and kicks deep. With Buckley and Didak out, probably your only midfeilder that does that.

Absolutely no idea how this game will pan out. No form line, no real ability to judge gameplan changes and North with probably 6 blokes who have played under 5 games in the side with as much as 4 debutants likely.

Where will Leigh Brown play ? Forward or back ? This could also determine the Collingwood structure.
