Has anyone noticed that KFC chicken has more bones than it used to? Was eating it tonight and there was bones in parts of the chicken you wouldn't normally find bones. I almost swallowed bones more than once.

I can only think of two ways in which this can be possible. Either KFC have some new proprietary subspecies of mutant chicken with more bones, or they have started using parts of the animal they wouldn't normally use. One of my pieces of chicken today looked like it might have been the neck. Is this some sort of cost-cutting measure? I've been surprised that KFC haven't increased their prices despite the fact that the cost of inputs would have gone up substantially.

I think you've answered your own question there...

I can confirm that it's a new proprietary subspecies of mutant chicken with more bones

I had KFC tonight too as I have the most brutal mid 20s hangover of my life, just not 21 anymore boys, can’t hack it.

Oh yeah and the KFC was flipping shithouse, man it is bad bad food these days - you’re right tho there’s a severe lack of chicken

Take my money!

The chicken industry is a disgrace. Birds intensively bred for meat can barely support themselves after 8 weeks. They can not survive to normal farmyard adulthood.

Pay the extra if you can to eat humanely bred, raised and slaughtered birds. (Is “humanely slaughtered” even a thing?) That pretty much rules out anything from the Colonel.

Plant based “chicken” might be the best answer.

Win-win-win-win.

Win for sustainability.
Win for chickens.
Win for taste and health.
Win for Scrag (boneless).

Goodbye KFC and Nandos. And Red Rooster. (Or are roosters bred more humanely? They never seem to mention rooster factories...)

It’s a challenge. I’ve been trying to eat far less of the methane-producing meat like lamb and beef which means more chicken, pork and fish on the days we actually eat animals. (We often eat vegetarian meals)

So removing chicken reduces the meat options even further. Especially as fisheries have already been depleted all over the world.

Plant derived chicken (or beef, lamb, fish, etc) seems like a reasonable direction for an overpopulated world.

That’s if we insist on having stuff that tastes like meat. It’s not a big deal for me personally.

Yeah, we're the same. Hardly ever eat red meat these days, and heavily reliant on chicken and fish for meat intake, but like yourself eat vegetarian meals more frequently.

The size of chicken breast fillets have concerned me for some time, particularly the slightly cheaper home brand options at Colesworth, as I can't conceive the size of chickens required to produce them. I love my seafood too (part of my Adriatic heritage), but the increasing cost and scarcity makes that a hard option as well.

Plant based chicken generally sucks, isn't particularly healthy or good for the environment either. But it's certainly better than animal agriculture as far as the environment goes. I've definitely started cutting back on meat and would prefer to eat normal vegetarian food than the plant based meats. One thing I am actually optimistic about is cultured meat. Same nutritional profile and taste as normal meat but without the environmental impact or the cruelty of animal agriculture.

So Scrag, I'm a bit reluctant to search that in my browser on my work device!

Are they still out of lettuce and using cabbage?

I have stayed sway from these chain stores for two years. Most I ever go for is a pizza on rare occasion.
