KFC is just trying to live off its past success.

Was way better back in the rotating bucket days, like in the 80s, when people actually called it "Kentucky Fried Chicken", not KFC. It was always fast food, but gee, it was a fine meal back then, not the slop they give you now.

It's pretty crap here in the States too, but I'll still go maybe once a year just so I can entertain the idea of being proved wrong.

Here in Britain, even with the dodgy exchange rate the price of fast food is significantly lower than anything in Australia. It's a fatties wet dream.

Maybe that is why Scotland is the fattest nation in the EU....

Can't vouch for its truth, but there were rumours going round after the change that Kentucky Fried Chicken were sourcing their chickens from places that dosed them so full of growth hormones and other stuff that it couldn't be legally sold as 'chicken' anymore, hence the more ambiguous KFC.

Would not surprise me if an ex-KFC exec came out one day came out and said it was true. Would still eat Zingers though:thumbsu:

Nah, the ultimate burger meal costs $10 for regular ($2 upsize?) but only comes with the 1 piece of original chicken. Now that I think about it, an Ultimate burger meal + 2 pieces of chicken probably works out slightly cheaper than a zinger combo, gravy and 3 pieces of chicken.
2 pieces alone will cost you $5.95 but a 2 piece combo with 2 pieces of chicken, chips and a drink will cost you $5.95. Madness.

I work for this evil corporation and there are normally ways to manipulate the register to give a slightly cheaper price to the customer. Sometimes a customer will come in and ask for a zinger burger and large chips with no drink. That'll cost them $9.20. Instead, I'll put through a regular zinger combo and change their drink to a large chips and that'll cost them $8.20. Most of the workers don't do that shit so customers pay more. Unless the customer is a real ****, I'll suggest a better value meal if I feel that they are getting ripped off.

I actually still think there is a place for KFC in this world but I rarely go there when I'm not loaded with coupons, or my Williamstown large fries upsize.

Not that the savings are anything less than marginal really.

usually get an allstars box:

1 crispy strip
1 original recipe
pop corn chicken
2 wicked wings
bread roll
potato and gravy
chips
drink

that's for under $10, which is pretty good.

Bumping to whine.

Occasionally I will get a large KFC chips to go with my steak and vegetables for dinner. But in the space of 3-4 years, the portions have been getting smaller and the price has risen from:

$2.95
$3.45
$3.95
$4.25

and as of last night, now $4.75!

Yes, it will be the last time I get KFC chips.

Really not that hard to cook chips yourself at home. Takes a max of 10mins and it'll cost you a tenth of what you pay at KFC.

You guys act as if you're forced into extortion, it's your choice to buy food that is grossly bad for you. Really the high prices are a favour. As it costs more you'll buy it less often and eat less unhealthy food for cheaper prices. Fast food stores used to be the cheaper alternative to average restaurants (if you're hell bent on saving yourself cooking), but that really isn't the case anymore.

Thank you re-affirming how over-priced they are.

I go to KFC a lot more than I go to Maccas these days. Maccas changed the brand of their fries, so now they taste like shit.

I usually just get a crispy strip combo from KFC, and stay away from the greased up original recipe. I do miss the skin though :p:(

That’s what turned me off KFC though. That was always my meal of choice, but the strips got smaller and smaller and the prices just continued to rise. What’s it up to now, over $10.50 or something probably?

Yeah, something like that. It's shit. The strips are tiny, and sometimes not so crispy. They need to be crispy!

Yeah the last time I had KFC (ages ago, hence this thread I think?), my strips were seriously tiny. So I took them back, showed them and said they're the same size as chicken nuggets. I got a replacment, but I haven't been back.

I have only recently stopped eating crap like KFC.
Not only for health reasons, but the price is just ridiculous.
These days, id much rather pay the few extra bucks and have a sit down pub meal that will generally be better for me anyways.

What? And sit down and sink pints of beer with it?

Yeah, real healthy that. :p
