Killing off clubs?

Before we 'kill off clubs' we need to look at teams trying to own their home grounds. Manly at Brookvale, St George at Kogarah, etc.

Firstly need to be moving games out of Sydney.

If the fixture stays 26 rounds, 24 games, 12 home, most Sydney based clubs need to play minimum 2 homes out of Sydney.

Example below.

Sea Eagles - 1 game Interstate/NZ, 1 game NSW country. Maybe take a game to Gosford against the Knights? Continue the Perth game. Get some funding for Brookvale upgrade.

Roosters - 1 game Interstate/NZ, 1 game Country NSW. Continue the Adelaide game. Rest of games at SFS.

Bunnies - 1 game Interstate, 1 game country NSW or Qld. Rest at ANZ.

Dogs - 1 game Interstate/NZ. 1 gane country NSW or Qld. 2 day games at Belmore (Low drawing sides). Rest at ANZ.

Eels - 2 games in the NT, Darwin and Alice Springs. Rest at ANZ until Parra Stadium is completed.

Tigers - 6 games at Campbelltown. 1 interstate/NZ or Country NSW. 1 game at Leichhardt afternoon only. Rest at ANZ.

Panthers - 1 game Interstate/NZ and 1 game Country NSW (Continue with Bathurst). Rest at Penrith. Create a marquee game against Sharks easter sunday.

Dragons - 6 games Wollongong. 1 game Interstate/NZ rest in Sydney. Fair mix between ANZ and Kogarah.

Sharks - 1 games Interstate/NZ. 1 game Country NSW/QLD. Rest at Shark Park.

Minimum a Season.
2 games In Perth.
1 game In Adelaide.
1 game in Darwin
1 game in Alice Springs.
1 game In Hobart.

Games in country towns, Bathurst, Coffs, Port Mac, Albury, Wagga, Broken Hill, Tamworth, Taree, Rockhampton, Mackay, Cairns, etc.

Games in NZ, Hamilton, Wellington, Chirstchurch, Dunedin, etc.

Just some ideas.

Rabbits already play their fair share away from Sydney.

Queensland does not get near enough top level league, that it should.

If anything St George should relocate to the 'Gong permanently.

They should start to increase there games down there. 4 this season, 5 or 6 games next season. The Gong can get some good crowds, they just seem to get the origin period scraps against Cowboys, Storm and Warriors.

Couple of years ago I went to the Dragons Bulldogs Friday night game, just when the new western stand opened. Crowd of around 20k awesome atomsphere. With a good fixture cant see why Wollongong couldnt do really well.

With the Force being axed the NRL have a little sneaky window here to win some fans over.

If Perth are going to have a team, you are probably not going to get a better chance. So announce the Perth Team will join the comp in 3, 4, 5 years.

In the mean time, increase games per season to 5 at NIB stadium. Start trying different time slots, (times in AEST) Friday 930pm, Sat 930pm, Sun 6pm Sun 8pm. See what works, see what doesn't.

Really look into this double header at Perth Stadium next year.
Have the nines in Perth in a couple of years.
Advertise the hell out of the Perth RLWC games to get a full house.
Keep Improving media coverage of the game in WA.
When the teams play in Perth, really get invovled with the community. Go out the remote locations during pre season.

just because there is talk it it & a few times a crowd of 20k turned up to see a one off game, just there is far more to it than just plonking a team in Perth!
the force were given the boot due to low numbers! who would a league team be any better

plus not sure if you have ever been to perth, there is no pokes out side of the casion

There is a lot more work to be done than I suggested. Grass roots would need to have funding and development. It would cost the NRL a lot. But it is an investment.

Have a look at how Rugby grew in Perth with the Force.

It is not all about crowds, a RL club is not going to have 50k members and massive crowds. It will have its core group of fans, something to build on.

A club is only 1 suggestion. I want to see the NRL put some effort and action into really taking the next step in WA.

I honestly believe a Perth team can work in the NRL.
