Bad luck boys, thoroughly deserved it you thugs. Now lets see all the Roos sooks come out with replies. Though I wouldn't complain, your team have probably been the most looked after by the AFL over the years.

absolutly! you mess around with the runners and doctors and you get what you deserve! god those roos players have really gone over the top!
never thought i'd say this but good on ya tribunral!

Footy. It was just a sport.
But now it's also a business.
However, according to the fans it's a religion,
where the people rule!

No doubt about it. It isn't good enough. It can't be condoned by anyone. From what I can remember, no Kangaroos fans condoned it. Buckley or any other Collingwood player would deserve the same penalty if thay had done it. Well done to the tribunal for doing the right thing.

Play on says the umpire

I dont get it.
King gets 2 weeks for psuhing a runner.
Stevens gets finged for pushing a doctor.

It seems to me, pushing a doctor is a lot worse than pushing a runner.

I know, King ripped his shirt and pretty violently shook him, but anything to do with interfering with the assistance of an injured player is, to me, about as severe as you can get.
Even though Stevens only give him the doctor a nudge, or actually, 4 or 5 nudges, it still should have been at least 1 week suspension.

No, our players don't hit as many blokes which is why our tribunal record (apart from season 2000) is pretty good.
I don't think anyone will be sooking about the suspensions. King interfered with the runner and was suspended, fair enough. I didn't see the Stevens incident, so I can't comment.

I quote

The tribunal ruled STEVENS was irresponsible when he bumped Collingwood doctor PAUL BLACKMAN as he was treating Magpies captain NATHAN BUCKLEY.

Fair enough. Obviously no player should not interfere with a doctor in ageneral sense.

I quote again.

Video evidence showed STEVENS gently bumping Dr BLACKMAN and the two men explained to the tribunal it was only light hearted banter between two friends.

I'll repeat that again

....the two men explained to the tribunal it was only light hearted banter between two friends.

Don't we all get holistic, and as for saying you don't mess with runners, come on, they are elite athletes who are instructed to obstruct players, fill zones at kickins, mouth of at players, etc.

Umpires are untouchable, runners are fair game. If they can't take the heat then they should bugger off.

What a load of crap. Both players should be playing Friday because there was fug all in any incident. Should have run through the damn runner not chatted with him. Now the Roos will be all fired up and I'm told they are allowed to replace the suspended players! Probaly with two young guns just dying to make a pre-season impression...

Yeah we were looked after in 97 when Archer and Schwass got rubbed out for final series.

And yes all those priority draft choices for North are adding up.

Stkilda last year, Collingwood year before, Bears before that. Oh thats right you have to be a bunch of incompetent losers to get prioritydraft picks.

Yes, the AFL is looking after North.

No way, Choppyhard and Mudholian.
I played footy for 15 years at a resonably high level and one thing i never stood for was interfering with people helping an injured player.
The reason i say this was, about in the mid 60's in my first season (this was only my second match) of 1st grade footy, one of the opposition players copped a heavy neck and had neck damage.
The guy was me a year or two older than me, cant remember his name, but he had vfl written all over him. That was the only game i ever saw him play and in about half a game he must of touched the ball 15-20 times.
Anyway, he suffered neck damage, only played a handful of second grade matches after that. He was lucky, he was able to walk, but imagine if someone started interfering with the doctor. This guy may have become a cripple if someone had of done that.

So, thats basically, why i dont stand for doing stuff like that, even if it was just a nudge.
Even interfering with the runner is bad, but nowhere near as bad as with a doctor.

WCE2000,

A couple of points -

1, Buckley was not injured. They seem to call for an interchange, the next thing Buckley is up and running towards the goals.

2. While it looked ordinary on TV, the fact of the matter was, the doctor and Stevo knew each other as he was at North last year. There was light-hearted banter between the doctor and Stevo.

3. Many are suggesting the runner ran into the "space" colliding with David King and then stayed there. I think King was telling him to move.

4. I don't believe any action was taken against the runner. A couple of years ago, North v Bris. OUR runner was FINED $4000 for accidently colliding with a player.

The tribunal will never appease everybody, but they at least must have some semblance of uninformity.

PS I wrote in an earlier post re a Freo player getting 2 weeks. I wrote then, the penalty seemed harsh, and I hoped the tribunal would be consistent throughout the year. Recently, another player received only 1 week!!!!

I'm not all that worried about the King incident.
I didn't see the full game, but i saw the incident with Stevens.
Buckley was leaning, seeming to be grasping for air, probably wounded, and Stevens kept nudging the doctor. I saw the doctor get up and shove Steven's away in anger which suggests to me, it was not in friendly banter.
Buckley may not have been injured, i didn't see the hole thing, but the part i see, he didn't look 100%

I would prefer to be suspended for five weeks then play for a club that squeels... or be a soft prick that can't take a love tap without going down for the count...

So we will get on with next week and I will always remember how this supposedly great player hit the turf after a slap to the guts... my nomination for softee of the week... Nathan Buckley

GEEZ THIS WAS THE INCIDENT THAT STEVO GOT REPORTED FOR,THE ONE HE RECEICED THE SUSPENSION FOR. I WATCHED IT AGAIN TONIGHT HE KNEW HOW HURT BUCKLEY WAS, HE THUMPED HIM IN THE STOMACH, EXACTLY THE SAME SORT OF THUMP THAT WORSFOLD GAVE CAREY IN THE FIRST ROUND IN 99 ,EXCEPT WORSFOLD GOT AWAY WITH IT, AND YES CAREY WAS ON HIS KNEES ON THE GROUND AS WELL, STEVO KNEW HOW HURT BUCKLEY WASNT. CERTAINLY IT IS A LESSON NOW FOR OTHER PLAYERS NOT TO MESS WITH THE DOCTOR, BUT RUNNERS ARE A DIFFERENT THING THEY ARE ALWAYS GETTING IN THE WAY. KINGY WAS ON FIRE FROM THE FIRST BOUNCE THEY HAD TO STOP HIM SOMEHOW.

There you go again you moron, blowing your own trumpet. You are and were a hack. Played at a high level my arse!
BTW, what's it like having a Hawthorn reject coaching your pathetic excuse for a team?
What's it like knowing that a bloke would rather coach THE most pathetic club in Collibgwood over your rabble?

whats it like not having the integrity to post with a real name?

i dont mind a coach who is the best coach in the AFL at building talent, he did it in the WALF and with the hawks, if he isnt good overall it wont matter, he will leave us with the most talented team in the afl by the time he leaves, but untill he gets a chance with at least a team wtih less than 5 injuries we cant really say can we?

Oh good comeback you loser w***er. You're as pathetic as your team you dirty ****ter!

I believe that both should have been rubbed out for at least three weeks of the 'real' season. Serving time in the Mickey~Mouse cup is not the same punishment as serving time in the AFL season proper.
That hit on Buckley was 100% out of order.
