I'm not sure about this. Hated this guy with a passion when he played.

Watch the best of David King

Former Kangaroos star David King has joined Richmond as an assistant coach.

King, who retired at the end of 2004 after 241 games with the Roos, will work full-time for the club three days per week as well as on match days. He will supplement that work with a role in the football media.

King rounds out a new-look Tiger coaching staff headed by new coach Terry Wallace and assistants Brian Royal, Steve Alessio and David Whewadon.

“Terry was particularly keen to add some recently-retired premiership players to the group,” Tiger football director Greg Miller told richmondfc.com.au.

“He believes David King and Steve Alessio will provide a more recent perspective on the game and that they’ll add significantly to his team.”

King played in the 1996 and 1999 premiership teams at Arden Stree

i hated him because he always saved his best games for us, and always killed us and he always gave it to the crowd when he did. he is a tiger now, so its a distant memory. all the best kingy.

I am very happy with this appointment. King has the confidence and the 'in your face' arrogance that we need if we are to successfully de-Frawley our players!

I'm also please to see we have a ruck coach who actually played in the ruck!

im happy we have one at all but the fact that he actually is an ex ruckman!!! what a bonus. AND he is a premiership player!! cant be true can it?

Don't worry about King....
Everyone's overlooked Alessio....
What a waste of footballing department appointment....

There is NOTHING Alessio can bring to our club...
Ever seen the guy on Fox Footy ??

(First bad move Wallace!)

I am serious......just because someone has played in a position doesn't mean
they can inpart any valuable knowledge from the spot they played in.....

And we don't just need a ruck coach....we need a forward thinking ruck coach that
can give us the edge.......we are playing catch-up football......we need to do things
better than the Old Richmond of past seasons....

The AFL is littered with Champion players and Premiership players who couldn't coach
and pass on anything of any value from the choice position of their playing careers...

My belief is that Steve Alessio will not bring anything to the ruck coaching role that maybe
even Terry Wallace couldn't already impart....

Only time will tell.
Cheers

I recon kingy would be a good addicition to the new Tigers coaching staff line up. Gotta be better than the last few years :) He will add insight to the younger players on the track. Alessio will be another good one, he has had alot of experience over the years as well. Go TIGERS in 2005 :)
