I've completely lost my way since getting to Kuttenburg map (not in a bad way). Trosky map I had a complete handle of. I always knew where I was going and had each day planned out. Now I'm just wandering a little aimlessly. Doing the odd side quest here and there and only slowly getting rid of my horde of loot because there seems to be a severe lack of traders in the towns. I probably should follow the Devil's quests a bit because it looks like they're designed to send me places in order but I'm stubborn when it comes to open world RPGs and refuse to do what I'm told.

Side quest in Kuttenberg that involved "finding a coin" or something in a pub. The search area was multiple floors and every single time I wanted to use the stairs someone would be on them. One time I saved the game, punched them out of frustration then reloaded. I felt a bit better.

Began this tonight. I'm really early in, only up to the lake part where you have to get by the guards. Think I'm going to struggle with the combat after practicing with blondie but maybe I'll get used to it.

Yeah he dominated me and I thought the same as you, however you get much better at it as the game wears on and you learn a few tricks from some experts.

From my experience this game has one if the harder learning curves from the beginning - you're basically broke, weak and shit at everything but you can turn it around pretty quickly.

The combat can be really satisfying when you get the hang of it. If you're outnumbered which can often be a death sentence or a heavily armoured enemy that is consistently using Master Strike against you and you pull off the perfect combo or feint and turn the fight. There is an element of skill involved compared to other games like it.

I killed the 2 blokes who appear at the old chick's house at the start. Any use for the keys on their bodies?

I just left Troskowitz. Skulked around for a bit to get a bit more used to everything. Stole a few things from the easy chests and didn't get caught but got 'pegged' and then the bunny was blowing a horn idk what that is so legged it out of there for the next town.

You're going in the stocks on your next visit to said town.

They won't forget after a few days? I was hoping to avoid for a while since there's no quests left there. I've stolen a bunch of pricey shit I'm not willing to give up.

I know there's a perk that makes people forget about your crimes quicker, but I'm not sure if it goes away altogether depending on what you do. Just do ride through there or if you fast travel stop before going through the town and you should be fine.

I think I'm getting close to the end. I've done every side quest I have been able to find and today got the Steam achievement for completing most of the game's content. Haven't hit any point of no return warnings yet but it's feeling close. Currently at 118 hours and still want more. Even some of my favourite games I can tend to hit a wall at the 100 hour mark.

This feels like 3 different games. First the Trosky map, then when you get to the Kuttenberg map and then when you finally get to Kuttenberg city itself. For my Trosky feels so long ago and so much more innocent. The stakes feel so much higher after you progress some of the main story quests around the city. Some people I think won't like the sections where you're locked out for at least an hour or two doing curated and railroaded quests that develop the story. I find the story and the writing in general very intriguing. The story has so many twists and turns too and while I'm now expecting more turns and betrayals I think it's done well enough that I'm not seeing them coming. I still think the twisting at the end of the Trosky section was amazing. Some of the voice acting is excellent too. Side quests are probably the best I've ever experienced as well. Previously Witcher 3 held this crown but these are something else. They feel like even more games within the game. Only a very small few are "go here", "steal that", "duel this guy" but the majority of them are fully fleshed stories that can take hours on their own and have their own twists and turns too. Some of them even tie back into the main story which I think is really cool. There have been quite a few moments where I've genuinely LOL'd too. Not the kind of "lol" you reply to someone when they send a funny meme and you laugh internally, but an actual laugh. No spoilers but the entire drinking sequence with the Cumans in the Trosky map I was in tears laughing.

My only real beef is that compared to the first game this feels like it has been made more accessible and the things that were tough in the first game for more casual players or those who didn't want to/couldn't spend the time to develop their Henry are much easier in this game. In KCD1 if you didn't invest enough time in it you would struggle to make enough coin for supplies or to even reguarly repair plate armour. It was also very punishing if you didn't respect the combat system. I'm actually rolling in cash (had over 30k at one point and stopped trying to make more) and if I don't one or two shot an enemy with a master strike then a feint and a combo or two will do it. I get it though. To make it more accessible they balanced the game to suite a larger audience and that's one who probably won't spend more than 50-60 hours in it. If they made it too hard for those who just want to play the main story with very little side content then it wouldn't sell as well.

Still, an easy 11/10. Yes, 11 out of 10. Amazing game.
