Villagers can vote if they wish to just to make their opinion clear but they don't technically have to. It's up to the king who they execute, only he decides, any votes made by others are not official. Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

If you're a villager try to find bad guys, convince the King etc. If you're an assassin try to blend in. It's pretty much like normal expect the King's is the only 'vote' that really counts.
