There was a player that the tigers picked up in the 2002 season who had very similar goal statistics to Kingsley. They were:

2001 - 38
2000 - 37
1999 - 51
1998 - 61

So how many did he kick in career for the tigers? Answer 1. His name paul hudson.

If you will be pleased with a ******** player, then congratulations. :)

You guys can talk.....

Kent Kingsley will be good, and for what a PSD pick?

Whys there a big fuss from Geelong fans anyway? Worried.....?

Kent Kingsley will HELP the development of Cleve Hughes and Jack Riewolt and give us a good service. I think it's a masterstroke from Terry Wallace.

Matthew Richardson
Nathan Brown
Jay Schultz
Kent Kingsley
Kayne Pettifer

Handy Forward line anyone?

Weak argument. Hudson was 84 days shy of his 32nd birthday when he lined up for his first game with Richmond, Kingsley will be 178 days short of his 29th if he plays in R1.

That's my problem with the decision itsy. Good players thrive on that type of pressure. Sydney have a few players who are possibly less talented than the likes of Kingsley, but they grow a foot taller when the heat is on. That's the type of player I'd like to see us targeting.

We have Tivendale, Hyde, P Bowden and now Kingsley who all look like champions againt lesser competition, but go missing in action when the call to arms comes. Kingsley might help us get into the finals, but I don't think he'll help us win too many once we're there. Maybe with our poor history just getting there is enough for now, but I'd like to think we are aiming higher.

Maybe I can take some solace in the decision if the plan is to make the finals the next couple of years before making a full assault, just to send the old blokes like Richo out with a few finals under their belt while giving the kids a taste of what's to come and harden them up with a bit of finals footy.

Good post.

I don't think you want too many of those in the same 22 when you come to an important game.

Not to say every team doesn't have a couple in that boat. I dunno if I'd have my house on the like of;
Lewis Roberts-Thomson & Darren Jolly when it matters.

Here's why Kingsley wont kick 40-50 goals as touted by most Richmond fans. As Geelong's only forward target, with 90% of forward 50 entries going to him, he only managed 40-50 goals/year. Do the maths... He is now pushing 30, and will have a lot more competition from better forwards. How many times will he be on the end of passes from Richmond's midfield. With limited forward 50 entries as it is, I would say they'd pass up Kingsley in favour of others.

Kingsley by the exact same token will not be under consistant presure nor have the other sides best defender on him; he will be able to play his natural game that he wasn't allowed at Geelong. That alone will make up for not being the no.1 target. 40+ goals is far from impossbile. More so when you take into account he kicked 57 goals only the season before last (2005) and has several seasons behind him with a simlar goal-to-game average.

"Pushing 30"? .. Also known as 28.

**** player who has lead yuor goal kicking 4 times

evertime i see you name your "best 22" you have deledio on a ********ing flank :thumbsd:

get it through your head mate, the kid is class and the best footballer we have had at the club in ages, he belongs in the middle all game every game

C: Cogs
RR: Tuck
R: Foley.

Now go and play with yourself child.

Foley could be our best midfielder next year. Tambling is going to take over Foley's role midfield with 10 minute stints every quarter. Deledio may be eased into the midfield in tandem with Bling because we can't have 3 youngsters in the middle.

I hope these midfielders are so good it pushes even someone of the calibre of Tuck to the bench, because if that happens then we've developed an elite brigade of midfielders.

PLSC does not understand this.

Apparently Deledio is going to be our first choice midfeilder next year.

johnson and polo will be taggers and foley will be our inside midfielder

deledio will be in the middle and be able to do what the ******** he wants

thats the difference between judd and hodge, judd stayed in the middle and won a brownlow and hodge had to move behind the ball to cover for his crap defence which is a waste of major talent imo

make no mistake the last 5 or so games was just to get him some of the ball and a bit of confidence he is already our best midfielder no wonder he gets the best tagger and the sooner he learns to deal with it good signs ahead

LOL, i have to agree with you there PLSC why waste his pace in a pocket FFS

An interesting fact, when drafted they said the only weaknesses he had were sometimes playing in patches and that he needs to learn how to shake a tag. I forget the link, try footydraft

it will help once our other midfielders become damaging and share the load

all the other coaches do is put the best tagger on deledio, keep tuck quiet and then just run off hyde and tivendale etc

deledio will love it once foley and polo start winning some hard ball

Back to topic.

KK was apparently offered a contract before he started training with us unless someone better poped up. Seems TW and Miller talked our interest down somewhat to the media.
