Had a convection microwave and my son made a packet mix chocolate cake. He set it for the appropriate time on the pack for the convection oven, but accidentally set it for microwave instead. Was left with a dried up lump in the microwave and when he opened the door it got some oxygen and burst into flames. The kitchen smelt awful for days.

My boss once wanted to warm up a muffin in the microwave but put 30 minutes instead of 30 seconds. Went back to his office and got distracted by things, forgot about the muffin until the fire alarm went off.

Oh my god. Reminds me of this idiot I met overseas and stupidly offered him the spare room to stay in when he was in Melbourne.
He put a piece of frozen bread in the microwave for about 5 minutes+ the ****ing idiot.

Microwave had this disgusting smell in it for months after that, because of that.
