If the Hawks only use there 2nd rd pik ta get Curran KM , ill bone up......

Form has been good post champs.

Looking allot better down back and could be a nice long term option for the Hawks as a bigger, marking KPD.

Might end up going 1st round but still regard him as more of a 2nd rounder.

#48 Collingwood – Tom Downie (VIC – Ruckman)
Height: 205cm, Weight: 95kg, DOB:
Recruited from: North Ballarat Rebels
Style:
Player comparison:
Range: 25-rookie
Profile: Super tall ruckman from a basketball background. Has only players the two matches this year to my knowledge, but gee has he stood out in the games he has played! Tap work is good. Can take a mark around the ground.
Why:

I saw what you did there.

I saw what you did there.

Did I mention that by quarter time in every match he has played that he can no longer run or have an influence over the contest?

Is absolutely a project and really quite an unknown quantity.

I have him VERY high in my power rankings because personally I think he will develop - and if a ruckman does develop then they will go down as one of the better players to come out of the draft. But I'll probably be on my own with that call and most will likely have him going somewhere in the 30s/40s - which I think is probably his realistic range - if he tests well.

I hope you're right about Wingard falling to Port's pick. I'd be stoked.

Dom Tyson's form has been brilliant this year and might be that no.3 pick. Certainly all recent rumours are suggesting this.

But that doesn't mean that Gold Coast don't take Wingard at 4. And GWS certainly would look at him again at 5 even with Longer possibly still available.

Coizer is very much the Kieren Harper of this draft....fair call???

Similar in some ways. Both special talents. Both have their own inconsistancies.

Crozier is possibly a little behind where Harper was this time last year because he is that little bit younger + allot lighter. Crozier is a little bit more of a project but don't read that as him being a lesser talent because he is just as talented. Can play.

good to see you have Darren Pfeiffer getting another go in the AFL. His form has been very good in the SANFL and is really a class above that league. I have a feeling he may even go earlier then you had him.

On the Lions last pick, any chance we will look at Zorko?

People have linked Myles Sewell to Melbourne in recent years as that ready to go midfielder, however think that Sam Dwyer could play round 1 for Melbourne should they need a ready made midfielder.

Also, Mitch Brewer is being heavily linked to Brisbane, whilst Ben Brown could realisticly end up at the Lions den.

Ahmad Saad will be pre listed too even though you selected him for GWS any ways.

I really like the Hayden Buscher to Carlton pick as well :thumbsu:

Wonder if you could give me a bit of information on Nick Hrovatin and also young Soloman from the TAC Cup as well?

Thanks bud

It'd be in the order of Wingard -> Tyson -> WHE -> Not Longer.

Myles Sewell even now wouldn't be a bad selection for Melb. But Sam Dwyer is quality and has had a sensational season!

If Bris lose Mitch Clarke then they might look at both Brown and Brewer as project types who both add something a little different.

I'm including those at this stage who are likely to be preselected - Julian Dobosz, Luke Brown and a couple of other really promising types. Will take them out later when we get confirmation of who they are going to select.

Solomon is a really big bodied, physical forward. Not quick but has monstered at TAC with size. Unsure how he would go at the next level. Probably not quick enough and will struggle to stand out against stronger opposition.

Hypothetically, If the Crows traded Tippett for pick 4, who would we pick.
Hoskin Elliot, Wingard, Longer, Tyson ect.

Whoever of Wingard/Tyson is available. Other attractive choice could be Buntine.

just gave it a look through and no Aseri Raikiwasa?

Thoughts on him

Thoughts on him

Had him in my draft for a long time.

At his size + type unsure if he will go in the main draft.

Late-rookie for mine.

But think he can have a career at the next level. Worth a shot.

I think he will struggle for impact at a higher level. Will need to change his game to play different roles because no chance he'll be rucking at AFL. He's got talent, fair bit but def more towards the rookie draft than the main.

Bit of an after thought but Bolger > Brisbane with there first pick (or one of there top 15 picks) looks increasingly likely, especially since McCulloch and McCauley were both delisted..

Makes sense in my mind..

What do you think?

Also,

You able to give ne the pros and cons of Seb Ross' game? Some people have him top 40, others outside the top 70. Would absolutely love him with our second round pick (after Kerridge with our first).

Thoughts?

Brisbane could do with that extra ruckman. Particularly if Clark goes.

Don't think Bolger will go quite so high. Considering Lycett went in the 20s last year, just don't see Bolger going quite as high as some expect.
Has had a good 2nd half to the season though.

Through the draft a Ben Brown and a potential no.1 ruck in a Downie or a Mitch Brewer would probably be some they look at.

Otherwise there should be some reasonably cheap trade options.

Really surprised Seb Ross doesn't get talked about more on here. Wouldn't object to Collingwood taking him at 25 or wherever we end up picking.
Talent is there. Foot skills fantastic. Never pressured. Work rate good. Tackles well.
Like his game allot. Think he could be a top 30 talent in this years draft. Would be very surprised to see him last past the 2nd round.

Think I'm the one with him outside the top 70 (72 to be exact).

I reckon some teams will probably view him as a top 30 talent, while others will view him more as a late round prospect. Type of player who teams will see different things in. I'm interested in how Ross tests, because I don't really see him as having any stand out features to his game.

Would not surprise me at all if I was wrong about him, but I think there are also higher upside players going around in a similar range - Duffy, Rusca, Williams, Crisp, Webster, Jacquier, Mascouslis for example.

I'd be happy for North to take him with our 2nd pick, unless there's a slider. Then hope he hangs on for our 3rd pick. Sounds like a decent prospect.

What are some of his deficiencies that see him spoken about as more of a later round proposition?

Not allot I don't like. Could become a stronger mark. Could become a bigger clearance player. + While reasonably agile probably isn't a super high level athlete.

But really not allot I don't like. Ball use + decision making I'd have well inside my top 10, if not top 5. Tackling good. Noted for leadership. Hard worked on + off field. Work rate good. Not a soft outside player and can win some of his own ball - but hopefully with a couple more preseasons should be able to win more of his own ball.

Don't know who Chris25 has been watching. Stands out as one of the best in just about every game i've seen of him with his footskills.

As mentioned earlier would be very surprised to see him drop further than the 2nd round. Quality.

Sebastian Ross from North Ballarat? :p

As I said I'm looking forward to seeing him test, because he is a little vanilla in my humble opinion. Nothing wrong with his game, from all reports is a pretty switched on guy who works hard so no doubt a team will like that.

I reckon he'll be a good player, just maybe not a great one. And what can I say, I like my high risk/high reward players. Kids like Ellis-Yolmen and Ah Chee don't have anywhere near his profile, but could be genuine stars in a few years.

I like Ross for this reason, dont think we are in a position to take high risk players so early. We are slowly building our depth that is (currently) non existant.

If we can snag players like Kerridge (round 1), Ross (round 2), Williams (round 3) we will be laughing, as they can take a year or two to develop and slowly push out the guys like Winderlich, Prismall, Welsh (when he ever plays), Lovett - Murray etc.

In the later rounds is when we could start 'reaching' for players that have high risk/high reward, like Jimmy Webster who has displayed form in other years but not come on this year (although this could apply to Williams as well).

At a guess, Essendon will be again looking for 'safe' players, a small forward, a lock down defender and possibly a young (17/18 y.o) developing ruckmen and then more midfielders, maybe even a utility if one slips right through.
