Brad Hill @ 23 to WCE is a very big call. What inspired that? Surely he's not that good?

Thoughts on Anthony Soriano Knightmare? Had a really good patch in the last quarter yesterday, worth a 3rd or 4th round pick? And I've heard if Roberts is available at 41 Essendon will take him

Any reason that you've spelled Dustin Fletcher's name "Flecture" every time? It's not some sly diss that I'm missing is it?

It seems like an odd spelling error to make, particularly when you did it so many times, and spelled Fletcher correctly when referring to Fletcher Roberts...

Some interesting changes. With the additions of Mascoulis, Clarke, Rusca, Blee and Shenton, and with Grigg falling past the Crows, it's starting to look a bit more like mine again. So I can't really disagree with anything, and that can't be a bad thing. :)

From a quick look, I'd say the only meaningful differences are your ratings of Manson, Hill and Ross compared to mine of Schade, Ellis-Yolmen and Ah Chee.

Wasn't expecting to see the inclusion of Justin Clarke though, especially not into the third round. I added him to my draft based largely off of the word of some people I met at a country football game a couple of months back, and more with the intention of pointing a potential rookie prospect. Don't think there is any footage of him floating around either. Will have a fair bit to learn about positioning and body work at AFL level no doubt, also he seems pretty set on living in Adelaide so will be interesting to see what happens there.

Knighta I cant keep up.

Bit hard to include Manson and Clarke as its all just hearsay. I have spoken to a few that have seen Manson and he is legit but Clarke I think is largely hearsay. Could also be Port or Crows keeping him back...who knows!

mascoulis is a good call - largely unheralded this year but an obvious talent. I think Shenton's performance yesterday will have hurt his chances but to be fair I havent been that big on him. Ah Chee will definately go in my view albeit I got excited about Rankine last year and was gobsmacked he got completely looked over after going to DC.

Re the GWS players;

Shiels as you say would be 1.
Hampton and Cameron would be 3-8
Treloar would be top 10 I would think as well.
Miles would be further back but as you say v good.
Couple of others would have been 20-50 as well.

I was right there with you last year in regards to Rankine. I was rapt when I found out he was training with Fremantle prior to the rookie draft last year, but unfortunately it wasn't to be. Real shame he didn't progress all that much this year back in the SANFL.

But, Ah Chee is a different case. Has 10cm on Rankine, I'd stake my thin reputation on him going in the National Draft.

Just wasn't a one player who necessarily stood out at that selection as a fit. Felt like mixing it up with something a little speculative.

Will probably change the selection next week so don't read too much into it.

Will be interesting to see where Roberts goes. Unsure if Essendon need Roberts - getting Joe Daniher next year then have Hurley and Carlisle.
Stranger things have happened though.

Soriano wasn't bad. Probably won't go in the main draft though. A few I rate higher.

Used your draft as a guide with some other names to have another look at. Shenton will probably drop out of my final draft - do view him as probably more of a rookie pick.

Your move of Grigg had no influence on me. More the recent form of Greene put him slightly higher. Definitely think he should be well gone before 20s.

Ah Chee I think is possibly more of a rookie selection. Talent is there but hasn't really put it all together and probably doesn't win enough of it. Real pick on just potential.

Waldhunter is a big difference. Not a super big ball winner and doesn't get THAT much of it. Must be a reason you view him as a 1st rounder.

Clarke is one I read about a long time ago and had notes of. Actually took your draft to remind me about him. One I had completely forgotten about. Very keen to see footage but have heard only positive things. Particularly his character profiling was very encouraging. Maybe he is more of a rookie pick but is one well worth looking at.

Do you think Shane Valenty will be looked at might be a good pick up for GWS maybe not in the darft but as a pre draft pick which I think they are able to keep

Valenti is on the short side. Obviously had the great year at VFL level.
Probably don't rate him as highly as others do and would take Sam Dwyer over him.

Talk is GWS is looking at him. Might get a shot but wouldn't spend much to get him.

Think of him as more of a rookie draft selection more than main draft if he gets the chance.

Rankine I too was a big fan of last year. Unfortunate he didn't get the opportunity.

I'm not as sure re. Ah Chee. Allot of talent. Probably doesn't produce as much as I'd like. I have him as more of a rookie selection at this stage. But maybe more footage or testing results will convince me otherwise.

Clarke I'd really like to see footage of. Have only heard good things of. Obviously not nearly the same level talent of a Manson, but still from all reports can play and is a real worker.

Like your GWS ratings allot.
You've seen allot more of them than I have so it's good to hear I'm somewhere close with those ratings.
Miles I thought was a probable 1st rounder last year (not best 16 but probably best 25 or so) - had he not entered the draft.

I sort of take the view that there is more to both these players than just how many disposals they get. Although having said that, Ah Chee has averaged 17 touches a game this year. Nothing wrong with that, considering typically at Colts level it's only the inside players who consistently get 20+ disposals. He is a super talent, but the performances have also been there.

As for Waldhuter, he has only played one U18 game in the SANFL in the past two years. Rest of his time has been spent in the reserves and he has made his league debut too. So he isn't playing against guys his own age, and also isn't playing in at the bounces as much as he could be. If he was playing in the TAC Cup, he'd be getting more touches and would be considered one of the best contested players in the draft. Best tackler by far, great hands in close and I'd take him ahead of Greene and Nelson if I wanted an inside midfielder.

Bit of an obscure one but do u know anything about Kaine Waller?

Not one I'm familiar with.

Worth looking out for? Information appreciated if you think possibly draftable.

Must have seen some of Ah Chee's less good games then. The game v SA in the U18 champs wouldn't have got more than 3-4 touches. And another game I had footage of was fairly unimpressive also. Maybe some newer footage can convince me otherwise along with his testing. But not convinced yet.

Will keep a look out for some of Waldhuter's inside work. Certainly like his kicking with his penetration over Greene + Nelson. And is a better size. Might not have seen as much of his work inside as you have. Haven't really seen that big ball winning ability. Will look out for it when I review some of his footage later on.

Knightmare

Small forwards time.. Looking for that modern day sub 182cm quick, deffensive pressure forward. Excitement machine, with good foot skills and a real nous for goal.

Any options?

So far have heard (and would appreciate more on)

* Anastasio
* Maric
* Gotch
* Elliot

Any guys interstate that could be a good fit for us?

Yeah, Brendon only got the 4 touches in that game. But it was his only game for WA in the Championships, and I'm pretty sure he only played the second half too.

Can someone tell me who that red headed small forward for Sandringham is? Looked a really lively and likely type.

Made things happen.

Been told to nominate ive heard. More a rookie prospect. Midfielder from Lauderdale.

I like the blend you've gone with for the Lions' first 3 picks, but given their ruck stocks have just been cleared out I'd be shocked if they didn't pick up at least one ruck in this draft.

Assuming Clark is gone and notwithstanding any re-rookies or trade week gains (and I'm not ruling out those possibilities) our next best "ruck" after Leuenberger is...McKeever.

Anastasio is a super, super speedster. Just goes. Left foot kicking is near perfect. Decision making good. Always very composed with the footy. Could play anything from wing through to forward pocket.
But wouldn't be more than 170cm. Good rookie prospect because he has those standout attributes.

Maric is a lively type. Again speed is good but not nearly in the Anastasio league. Kicking very good and always lively around goal. Slightly better height but again rookie type prospect.

Seb Gotch wouldn't be much over 170cm either. Another of those lively quick types. Loved his specie and immediate play on a couple of weeks back. Had a productive year of APS footy.

Elliot is that one year older. Crumbing type forward. Of these probably the better tackler. Speed again good and marking good for size. Like all the others can get as a rookie.

Not a whole lot to separate. All rookie type prospects. Anastasio is the most exciting and fun to watch with his pace. Maric is probably the more likely of these to get the chance at AFL level. Elliot is probably the best all rounder.

Should be a number of options through the rookie draft and I would probably recommend this to be where Brisbane look for potential ruck options - Longer will probably be well gone by your first selection, Bolger probably won't make it to your 2nd round selection and Tom Downie is probably too new and raw to the game to really come into consideration with any of your 2nd round selections, but maybe if he makes it through to your 3rd round selection is worth a look.

Mitch Brewer most likely going to end up a rookie selection and would be my recommendation for Brisbane. 204cm 119kg, 19 year old. From a rugby background and is a Queenslander. Fairly new to the game but improvement has been there and could with a couple of years develop into a quality ruckman.

As a mature type Russell Gabriel might be a good choice through the rookie draft as someone who can play now and come in as the no.1 ruckman if Leuenberger was to go down with injury.

Also talk that Brisbane are looking very closely at Jack Hannath from SA as a ruck choice. 2009 was his draft year and was very unlucky not to get rookied. Has continued his development strongly and word is that Brisbane are very keen - so one to watch out for.

Any other prospects you like? I was thinking Zorko could be a Jarryd Blair type. Nuggety little FP type who loves to tackle, probably a better tackler and maybe slightly better skills, wouldn't mind him as a rookie option as a small forward.

But yeah, any other options you like for small forwards? Here or interstate?

?

For half this year we were playing one out forward, and at times had to put our #1 ruck into the backline, we were that low on numbers.

On top of that we've lost Slattery (tallish defender) Neagle (tallish forward) Daniher (tallish swingman) and Williams (munchkin de facto target forward) - and a total of one midfielder.

Talls mightn't be the top priority but there will be at least a couple in there.
