What about Jaxon Cooke from the Western Jets?

I watched the vic metro practice match and saw him kick 2-3 goals looked like he played very well. I heard a bit about him at the start of the season just wondering if he was any chance to get drafted and if so where abouts in the draft?

Don't have him going in my draft just yet, but might be a rookie chance.
With Kavanagh back it's his chance to make a name for himself because the scouts will be watching.

hey knight just wanted to get your thoughts on billy longer, is he a monster body on body type of player or more of the athletic type we are seeing these days? And also how do you rate him compared to last years best ruckman in Gorringe?

Of those in last years draft I like Lycett more than Gorringe.

Of the 3 who will have the best career. I'd go with.
1. Longer
2. Lycett
3. Gorringe

Who good will he be? Don't think Longer will be better than Naitanui/Z.Smith/Goldstein. But should develop into a top 5 league ruckman at some stage.

Do you think the Curran is worth a first round pick?

I view him more as a 2nd rounder. But we'll see. One of the more promising KPPs in this draft in a draft with few.

KM - If as expected GWS gain pick 4 (Omeara) do you think they would go for Crozier. i believe they would be better of gaining an utility type like Tyson or Kavanagh. For me Crozier lacks consistency to be such a high pick.

You are certainly right about Crozier's consistancy. He does the special but can't produce consistantly to a high level - probably not completely unlike Dale Thomas at a similar stage, but don't think he is quite the same level talent.
He is generally considered a top 10 pick, pick 4 is certainly the highest he could go, but more likely I see him in that 6-10 range at this stage.

Kavanagh for now I'm being pretty cautious with because I haven't seen his games yet this year. At this stage regardless of who has pick 4 he looks set to go there, assuming he produces the form we are expecting of him in the 2nd half of the season.

Not sure Tyson will go top 5. Have him in that 6-10 type range also, but if his good form continues he could go at pick 6.

If Gold Coast did a serious move like Pick 4 + (2nd rounder - around Pick 28). Maybe this is enough to get O'Meara. Certainly can't think of a better deal any other team could possibly come up with.
This allows minimal list turnover for Gold Coast for year two when they have to reduce the number of players on their list by two and also allows them to go BOOM in 2012 - using both their high picks as well as the concession picks in the 2012 super draft. They need the second year to get a solid gauge of where every is at in their development and gives them a better idea of who to build around and where the most significant gaps are.

Are you able to give me a little more info on the Stingrays representatives (Nic Haynes, Jason Pongracic, Jordan Kelly, Brett O'Hanlon, Piva Wright).

No need to give any information on the highly rated guys (Whitfield, Elton, Buntine).

Also, would love to hear your thoughts on some possible later possibilities?

And any of the non - representative TAC cup kids that really impress you if you have seen much of them?

Thanks bud

#25 Collingwood - Shane Kersten (WA – Fwd)
Height: 191cm, Weight: 90kg, DOB: 15/03/1993
Recruited from: South Fremantle
Style:
Range: 15-35
Why:

Would love this Pick if it happen

Any thoughts on the QLD boys?

Jackson Allen, Peter Yagmoor, Adam Oxley, Jackson Starcevic, Fraser Thurlow or Sam Michael any chance?

Rumours on the port board are that T Schwarz will be a fs pick for us what do you think we'll have to pay for him

He was named 4th best for him on the weekend in Reserves

is there a site that we can get live scores of the under 16 Championship not alot of information out there.

Knightmare,

Do you think Tomlinson could go as close as 20-30, as he is a KPP?

Do you reckon Tyson could slip out of the top 10, and could go somewhere around 11-15?

Are there any current injuries, significant pre-existing or recurrent injuries that any of the main draftees have to note of (eg. Bad shoulders or knees - recos, history of soft tissues injuries). Information similar to Dyson Heppell's "groin" injury that scared a few teams before the draft and thus effectively making him slide.
The only one I can think of the main draftee's would be Wingard's tendency to be knocked out, which could lead to problems in the future ala Scott Stevens. Though he has to much class I think to go past #3, regardless.

Kelly: Tall athletic HBF. Creates drive from defence. Have him in my 2nd round mix.

Haynes: Probably a bit of an undersized KPP but would play more 3rd tall at next level. Year older. Athletic. Not unco. Possible rookie chance.

O'Hanlon: Leading forward. Goal kicker who can be focal point or 3rd tall. One of many reasonable medium size players in this draft. Reasonable chance he finds himself on an AFL list next season

Piva Wright: Pretty versatile whether back/forward or even mid if necessary. Really strong build and will grow out well but undersized. Questions on his position at AFL level. Reasonable chance to find himself on an AFL list next season.

Jackson Allen, Peter Yagmoor, Adam Oxley, Jackson Starcevic, Fraser Thurlow or Sam Michael any chance?

I usually keep a close eye out for QLDers spending time up there most years.

Sexton, Yagmoor and Allen would be the Gold Coast chances for zone selections. Chance to feature in drafts.

Sam Michael has impressed me in the past and I view him as a chance.

Jackson Starcevich is a Coll F/S chance. Didn't impress me as I had hoped but with a strong finish to the season would still be a chance.

Adam Oxley is probably the one coming from the champs I liked even though a year older. Good ball user and could be a nice rookie find as a forward/mid.

Thurlow was surprisingly good in the ruck. But undersized so question of position at AFL level. Deserves consideration none the less.

Wouldn't say any of the above are certainties, but as rookies at least will come into consideration.

Outside of champs the one to look out for is Dayne Zorko - couple of years older. Not tall, but don't care. He's a talent and is good enough for AFL level. Would be my pick of the bunch going around up North. Tackles. Wins enough of the ball. Hits the score board.

Don't think I noticed him during the champs. Did he play?

If not then he might go a little under the radar along with Geelong's Jed Bews who is another a F/S chance who has been producing.

Would be interested to heard from those who have seen Schwarz, but sounds like a good chance to get drafted. Shouldn't require a super high pick I wouldn't have thought which is a big win. Possible 3rd/4th rounder.

Not that I'm aware of. But if you do find one, let me know. Would be more than just a couple of us who would be interested.

Tyson unlikely to slide. Should go top 10 if his form continues.

Tomlinson is a hard one to answer for. Right now I have him in the 20-40 range. With few standout KPP he is one of those better ones and still is a 1st round chance, but probably more of a 2nd rounder for mine.

Jack Charleston?

Keen to check out his form. Haven't seen enough but good recent form. Draftable.

Trying to find a Dyson Heppell for Adel who might slip through?

I don't have great notes on injury histories but will gather what I can from now till draft time.

Some have missed early season action. Kavanagh amongst others. But doesn't seem to have hurt their draft ratings as far as I can tell.

Some bargains who have had some injuries.

Brett Eddy from Collingwood VFL did an ACL. Probably would have made it into the National Draft otherwise. Still worth a rookie and with a couple of preseasons could become another of those rookie bargains.

Another one with an injury history who is worth a look is Ben Brown from Tasmania. KPF/Ruckman with great potential. Missed out on getting drafted last year and had to have a knee reco. Worth a shot. Quality talent.

i would like port to look at the qld talls/ rucks as gc will pass on them as zone selections. any that slip to very very late draft or rookie. i dont know much about sam micheal but was a ais-afl scholar, anyone know much about him??

I only ask as I see a lot of the kids with ridiculous amounts of tape around shoulders or support strapping around the knees etc and I wonder if any of them are there for legit past or present injuries or if they are just precautionary.

For example, when Grigg was lining up for his set shot in Rd 5 against WA in the 1st Q his left shoulder was absolutely covered in tape. Any thoughts on that?
I'd imagine most of them would be for little niggles and precautionary reasons though, I've even heard players wearing it for confidence reasons as well.

KPP. Can play both end. Can play minor ruck minutes. Physically very mature for age.

Worth a shot late/rookie.

Many seem precautionary, but often players are carrying injury and you'd never know it.

Clubs would enquire about injury history before drafting. Would be handy to have these details but don't unfortunately.

Don't have the details on Grigg's injury history or whether he was carrying a shoulder injury. Will see if I can get footage and will take another look to see if it seemed to effect his play.
Could also be seen as a positive if indeed he was carrying something because it shows that he can play through pain.

You really have to know each player case by case and give consideration based on that.

For Adel though he is a chance to slip through to that selection.

Played one game? if that? mmm 4th rounder would be nice

Seen him play a bit Nice skills kicks a beauty, takes the game on a bit too much, can go missing in games

Curious to see if you think any of these three jets will feature; Jordan mead, Mitchell Turnbull or Dylan jones?

Mead is not a bad. Could feature in the draft, but at this stage don't have him in there. Has impressed me in the past. Would think he is a chance.

Turnbull + Jones haven't seen as much of. Would like to see more of them.

Just updated draft.

Added 4th round - to get some more names out there.

Additionally added some State Leaguers from around the country who I think are a fair chance to go in the draft.

Thanks also three others I'm curious about sorry
Adam Kennedy, Matthew smith and Lachlan fairley

Kennedy was in the mix last year. In a less strong draft this year possible rookie chance.

Smith played for NT in the champs didn't he? Was ok but at his height probably didn't stand out enough.

Fairley isn't bad. Has shown some solid TAC Cup form. Draft chance.

Good to see Paine make it back into the second round. Luke Brown should be at least 30 spots earlier though, and Forster is still too low for me too. And I'm sure Mihocek will be the first Tasmanian picked.

Think pretty much all the mature aged players are too soon as well - Sunberg, Tate, O'Hara, Thomas, Saad, Blackwell. I might have a couple of them around the fourth round mark. But then again, I'm not a big fan of the 21+ years old.
