Good detailed work!
I haven't the time to look through 38 pages but i see you have Grundy as Port's 1st. I know if he makes it that far he may be seen as best available but I'm just not convinced that port will recruit a ruck with their first! Is he that good that they would forego a good mid?

If available at Port Adelaide's selection I expect so. Some rate Grundy as high as the 2nd or 3rd best talent this year. A likely round 1 starter and a potential franchise ruckman which at pick 7 is a gift even with midfield needs.

Corey Chalmers is no chance of getting drafted.

Kent is a 2nd rounder.

Please elaborate on the Chalmers call ?
Is it because he has been playing state football since he was 15 ?
Or it because he won the team's MVP at 16's level ? Or maybe because he has been a quality midfielder for both West Perth and WA for a lengthy period, who makes good decisions and has great goal sense ? No chance at all of being drafted I guess. o_O

Hey great work! How up-to-date is your mock draft, just wondering :)
I see you have Mayes at 2 and Toumpas after the Bulldogs pick. Its there any chance of Mayes to Bulldogs along with Toumpas?

Woops got the picks of those players wrong, but the question still stands :p

See his name on the State screening list, or national combine?

There's no interest, he struggled at the championships.

Couldn't get into matches between QLD and NSW/ACT, was dropped for the remainder of the carnival.

All well and good to rack up 41 possessions in the Colts, but he'd done his dash with a poor carnival.

Stopped kicking goals from the middle, maybe Im being overly harsh, but at best he's a sneaky chance at a rookie listing.

He will be at the state screening. Lacked game time during matches and wasn't taken to Melbourne incredibly. Kids who aren't even eligible went ahead of him. I know that maybe says he isn't good enough, but I think the coach had his own way of doing things.

"There's no interest." Okay then. It is all well and good actually. I suppose you must be writing off everyone else who didn't play State 18's aswell then ? With the exclusion of Kent.

I'm planning on updating again hopefully some time this week but in need of some small tweeks.

I have Toumpas at pick 2 to Gold Coast at this stage with Mayes to Bulldogs at this stage. Mayes more likely than not will be available and at this stage is my early pick as one of those two early selections, Toumpas most likely not available unless some late medical concerns but it would surprise me.

My power rankings I expect when next updated will look very different. Been some time since I've updated it.

Hey Knightmare. Does Garlett have the same some of pace as Yarran from Carlton? WC, while we have a few players with ok pace, really are missing someone with the ability to break away from stoppages and carry the ball

Few have Chris Yarran (Carlton) pace. Garlett isn't quite up to that same level but should still test in the top 10 for speed. Garlett has a better rounded game and better midfield capabilities than Yarran. Very much someone who can break away from stoppages and carry the ball but also then use it well.

The challenge for WC will be getting a draft selection high enough to get him as he could go top 10 and if not then almost certainly top 15.

If West Coast were to miss out on Garlett who do you think would be next best choice as a very speedy mid with good clearance potential and good disposal?

Jackson Macrae and Josh Simpson should both be considered and hopefully one of the three is available for West Coast.

Interesting to see that you have Garlett going to the Saints. I really can't see him slipping past pick 12, but surely St Kilda will go with a key defender instead. Knightmare, if you were St Kilda's head recruiter, would you take Garlett over Plowman ?

Just updated my draft this moment so it's probably already changed from the last time you looked at my draft order.

I now have Plowman and Garlett going just before St Kilda's first round selection (with the draft order fixed up).

Plowman would be the pick ahead of Garlett in St Kilda's situation but I don't see him being available.

I've since changed St Kilda's selection to Jake Stringer.

KM, you have Plowman coming to us at 9 and whilst I rate him extremely highly and think he will be a genuine talent in the AFL, I don't believe that we will pick him up. Currently our KPD stocks hold Rance Grimes Griffiths Post Astbury and we are also reportedly getting Chaplin too. I just don't see it as a need. There is talk that we are heavily into Vlastuin and you have him much lower than I think is his proper position. Again, I seriously doubt whether the bulldogs will claim another inside-midfielder and I can see them going Mayes/McRae (Outside they desperately need) + Plowman (Replacement for Lake)

Still switching around my selections some and making some minor edits as I see them necessary. I have Plowman to WBD and Wines to Richmond for now.

Will wait for free agency + trade week till I start taking list changes of this variety into consideration.

KM would you see us picking up Stringer at pick 12 and trading pick 13 for Caddy as a good outcome?
Then we have a risky pick that could pay off immensely in Stringer along with some 'insurance' in Caddy

Both would be very good outcomes.

It will be interesting to see what Gold Coast gets for Caddy. I'd expect they get slightly more than pick 13 though. Great get if you can get him. Same for Melbourne. Same for Richmond.

He'll be at the state screening?

Is he going to arrive uninvited or has he received an invite?

As far as I'm aware, to participate in the screening you need an invite, or is there a "chalmers" clause Im unaware of?

"There's no interest." Okay then. It is all well and good actually. I suppose you must be writing off everyone else who didn't play State 18's aswell then ? With the exclusion of Kent.

At a time there may have been interest, but that time has probably passed, as evidence by the non interest and lack of an invitation to the screenings.

And no, I think there are some chances from outside the 18's, they've been invited to the screenings.

KM it looks like you have Carlton netting an outside mid, small defender, a second outside mid and then some speculative talls. I could live with a nice, lock down small defender, but we need some inside mid grunt IMO.

Where would the best rd be to look for an inside mid ? Garlett sounds great, but with his supposed behaviour issues, and out need for inside mids, would we be more likely to go for a Stinger/Kennedy over Garlett ?

For inside mids probably 2nd round would probably be the best time where there is still enough talent available, also allowing the 1st round selection to be best available. A Lonergan or Pongracic could slide. Maybe Broomhead. If not then Hrovat should be available and would be a great immediate mid.

I'd lean towards Garlett. He is a fantastic talent and could add a lot in the immediate on a wing or forward flank. A near Harley Bennell talent and with a good coach I think he can go ok, so I see him as a good fit and very good value at 11. Stringer would be the other option and another really good choice. More of a hard body but might not have the same immediate impact - will need to build his fitness up some still even if he does have the size on him.

Kennedy again maybe, but likely would be more of a rotation fwd/mid and Carlon have plenty of quality forwards already I'm not as sure he is a need early draft.

Question - would Port pick up Grundy if he is available? I think Grundy will slip through

I would expect so if available. Not just the local talent factor but a big upgrade on the current developing Port Adelaide ruck group. He can play from round 1 and at pick 7 represents strong value. Sometimes best availables are just too hard to pass up and even with an understanding of the midfield needs Port Adelaide have I'd still go Grundy, grab an outside mid and some others later on.

hey knightmare loving your work mate,
Interested to know,
at the same stage in their careers who would you rate as a better prospect, Caddy or Wines?
also, do you think that if Stringer tests well at the combine, GC are a chance to take him with pick 2?

Cheers in advance, and sorry if you've answer this already.
