So Essendon can still 'nominate' Jedd Clothier for example and place him outside their normal rookie list still?

Correct.

Hey knightmare do you think jay Kennedy-Harris could last to pick 40? Hope the dees can get him.

Kennedy-Harris most likely goes somewhere in the 20-40 range.

Highly unlikely he's available at 40 but unless you're a consensus top 20 selections it's possible this year with the evenness of the rest.

Knightmare, or even Snoop Dog might be able to help.

Can you 'nominate' possible father/son and eligible NSW scholarship players before the rookie draft?

Only ask because I have seen many people say it is possible, but others also say it is not possible.

Yes.

You can and you can lock them away with the final selections in the rookie draft.

Applies for both f/s and NSW if nominated.

The final date for NSW scholarship holders to get put on the rookie list was Nov 27. The actual date may have changed with the PSD and rookie draft moving up. For father/son guys you want to put on the rookie list, you had to nominate them as such at the start of trade period (like Freo with Lester-Smith) and hope they slide through the ND.

Since November 27th hasnt come around, there is still a possibility of him signing on then.

The F/S options Essendon has this year (Jordan Williams - 19, Daniel Thompson - 18, Jydon Neagle - 19) are all better than ok players but not AFL material (although Neagle did show tremeandous improvement and Williams played a number of outstanding games in the Development League for the Essendon reserves, reserves - The Frankston Dolphins)

yep that is correct. i would think Neagle only option is they are looking for a medium tall so he might get a go in a shallow group and the fact he did show a bit through the year. I hope he gets on. Be terrific for him and the family and a little bit of sentiment would be good. You guys have 2 spots I think and he is plausible there. At the least maybe get him into the Reserves side and go from there.

As an aside, how good would it be if the AFL clubs fielded their own DL sides next year.

Im not sure we will grab him though mate. Perhaps he or Clothier, but not both. (similarish type players?)

We have two picks in the national draft (26, 55 + 66 we will use to upgrade Lauchlan Dalgleish with) whilst we have two rookie list spots available.

Is Sheed better than what Daniel Rich was at the same age? I'd like it if west coast picked up Sheed and Robertson. Two local boys, both midfielders, would really add some depth and potential, not to mention the height that Robertson brings. They don't really bring truck loads of pace but that's not the be all and end all.

I can recall rich playing well in a winning WAFL league GF team for Subi. I have not been overly impressed by Sheed at WAFL league level. IMO he has no major weapons but does everything at a consistent level. I can say however that he was very impressive in the 18s carnival and that Rich was essentially tagged out of his carnival.

Rich without question was the more advanced.

Sheed was holding his own and playing well in the WAFL.
Rich was doing more and had a first year Sheed probably doesn't have the ability to have which is hardly a criticism with Rich's first year exceptional.

Knightmare do you know anything about Barry Barone from East Fremantle? Eligible for the 2014 draft.

Draft eligable next year. Small but has had a strong season through the midfield. Haven't seen much of him but will get a better feel for where he sits next year.

Knightmare is Jake Kolodjashnij 192cm or 193cm? Do you believe he is capable of being groomed in to a key defender or just that third tall role?

What are the chances GC would pick him up with pick 20 or 27?

I hope if they take Kade, they take Jake too. They play well together, and they will make a very nice combo in the AFL one day

His position depends on the club that take him. He's versatile and can do a bit of both.

Doubtful that Jake goes anywhere inside the top 30. He might be a mid-late draft option but I don't see him getting picked second round.

Knightmare

Zac Webster has been overlooked in basically all the phantom drafts I've seen. What do you think his chances are? There was huge hype around him earlier this year

The connection with his brother playing for St Kilda generated interest.

The hype has decreased with the sheer quantity of Tasmanians getting spoken about: K.Kolodjashnij, Templeton, Nankervis, J.Kolodjashnij, Thorp, B.Brown and Grey.

Webster late/rookie draft is a chance but unless you're a consensus top 20 selection there are no guarantees with all those others selections very much to be determined with lots of surprises ahead.

1. McDonald (will go to 11 since McDonald is already taken)
2. M.Fuller
3. Reynolds
4. Merrett
5. Battersby
6. Garlett
7. Kelly
8. Billings
9. Aish
10. Amon
A case could also be made for: Bourke, Willsmore, Wilson, K.Kolodjashnij, Freeman, Salem, Bontempelli, Miller, Acres and L.Taylor by foot as that next bunch.

No Lennon? I'd have him thereabouts

He could be considered among that group.

He wouldn't be a top 10 kick on my list though with a few real specialist kicks.

Lennon is generally a good field kick and a nice snap shot at goal. Set shot goal kicking not so great though so I'm not putting him up among those absolute premium kicks.

He's not a McDonald or Reynolds level penetrator or a Kelly type precision kick so he doesn't belong in that absolute top group when talking just kicking but he's better than most. No doubt. And around that 15-25 mark as a kick in this draft.

KM, there is talk of the Swans looking at Appeness now rather than Lobb at 15, thoughts on this? I didnt think Appeness had an amazing carnival.

I'm hoping Collingwood pass Freeman onto Carlton at 12 :D

But hey, we're all entitled to our own opinions.

Is this late list of others in any order?
