I'll admit I don't know much about him. Would pick #5 be reaching?

I do think we need a type like him though. We're also apparently right into Acres, who I see is a similar size and can also play across half-back. If either of those are available at with our pick #18, I think we'll be very interested.

Might not be available at 5.

hey knightmare, who do you think would be the best available selection for north's second round? it currently sits at 25 i believe but could easily be pushed back to 28-29 after compensation picks come in. Losing Delaney seems likely, so a backup KPD could be useful and also some outside run is what we are lacking through the midfield. What would be the best options for both those areas around this pick? cheers mate

Bontempelli growing to 194cm will hurt his draft stock IMO. I don't recall any full time midfielders being that tall.

Seems everything outside of pick 1 is unsettled!

Pretty much. There will be some interesting choices on the night and potentially some interesting sliders to GC/WC/Bris. Melb takes Kelly. That's all but a lock unless they trade, which obviously just changes everything lol.

Thoughts on Tomas Bugg, Knightmare (or anyone else), including his strengths and weaknesses and what sort of draft pick he'd be worth this year in a trade? According to today's HSun he's keen to leave GWS. Does he play midfield, or mainly down back and where did he play in the juniors? Thnx in advance.

How sure are you that he has grown to that height?

They have him listed at 192cm in this article here, do you remember where you saw it? http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-10-07/bontempellis-extra-mile

Bontempelli has shot up to 194cm, is still yet to turn 18, and has the athletic prowess of few players in the draft pool. They are the main reasons that have pushed him up the order, coupled with the fact he finished the season strongly. Bontempelli likes to link things up through the middle of the ground, hold the ball in one hand and waltz down the wing. He can also play across half-forward or half-back.

Well done. That makes 2 out of 700 or so afl listed players....

Could name more too. They were very rare in the past but someone had to be the first. Bontempelli didn't grow 3cm since the season finished so he's been playing at that height.

I agree in a sense, no one thought the 100m world record holder would be 6ft 5. However, if you want him as a full time mid, he will be an inch taller than the next tallest mid and there are but a handful in that category in the league..

The weight of numbers is stacked against him...

Roos is looking to play Watts as a mid at 195cm. Also he will probably give Howe more time as a mid to get some strength/size around the ball. Whether it works? Here's hoping!!

What Clubs will select Rookies this year and what players are best suited to be a rookie pick
rather than being picked up in the main draft.
