I'm not as confident in his ability as I was earlier in the season.

I was hoping as a taller guy that he would transition into the midfield but it hasn't happened.

Additionally I was hoping his form back in the SANFL would be stronger but his highlight of the year was the u18 champs where he could play as a sweeper and find all the easy ball which doesn't happen so much against better competition.

He may not go top 10 on draft day and will go somewhere in the 5-15 range. Exactly where in that range will be interesting to see but I think just outside the top 10.

Fair point you make, it wouldve been great to see him have a run through the middle. I think from my perspective he appears to be a more consistent player coming out of the back than say a Bontempelli.. uses the ball really well and reads the ball well in flight and reminds me a lot of Goddard with that versatility to play in most positions.

Perhaps im missing something with Sheed and Scharenberg, who would be top 10 locks on my draft board.

Knightmare have heard we're keen on Apeness at 26, do you think he'll last to that spot considering his stock looks to be rising as we get closer to the draft?

Would like either him or Conlon because they offer a bit of depth as both a KPF/Ruck

Apeness from somewhere in the 20s may come under consideration.

Despite having Apeness at 25 at the moment there is still a better than fair chance that he'll be available to Essendon if they want him at 26.
Such an even group from around pick 25 that anyone could go anywhere.

Bit harsh? His SANFL form was actually very good. He pushed up the ground more than he did for SA, and although he didn't play in the centre square he got to show off his ability around stoppages. But most importantly, he only played the four games after the Championships due to a foot injury. So really, what more could he do in such a small sample?

He's a better half back than Kolodjashnij. Has a better midfield game than Lennon. And I would argue, the third best tall forward in the draft. Plus, he'll play senior football in 2014.

Sheed I'm slowly cooling on. Who he is today is exceptional and what he did through the u18 champs was as good as any. The concern on my part and some others is that he feels like he's maxed out and may not have as much growth left in his game as some of those taller mids who seem to be rapidly developing into monsters.

It's going to be interesting to see how their careers track.

To excite some people since I've had multiple requests this past week I've put together a top 40 power rankings for 2014 and have also included some draft profiles.

I won't start a thread yet dedicated to the 2014 draft as I feel it's disrespectful to this years draft class but I thought I'd get something going to keep this place interesting.

Do you think Sheed is still the best choice at 11 for West Coast according to your rankings?

Hey Knightmare, just on Ben Sokol youve said he has really good endurance and a great marking game upforward but what are his deficiencies? doesnt have very good disposal? doesnt find the ball enough? not very good with clearances?

Crouch would be my highest rated talent but if looking local I like Acres as a fit rather than Sheed.

Not quick. If he had pace he'd be a top end selection with the power and marking ability he has.

Any chance Lennon will slip to Pick 13?

Collingwood are thought to like Lennon at 10. Richmond are also thought to be keen if there so while possible he's most likely not available.

Cheers for your thoughts on Ventura, I'm a big fan of young Caleb Daniel from the Panthers. From what you've seen do you think he could have a future at AFL level and what year is he eligible to be drafted?

would you know who else collingwood is keen on at pick 6?

The Herald Sun believes the Magpies are desperate to secure Marcus Bontempelli, a tall and freakishly athletic midfielder whose moves are uncannily like Pendlebury, and could pounce at No. 6.
It could mean overlooking ready-made defender and Brendon Goddard-type Matt Scharenberg, despite the hot South Australian prospect being touted as a top-four choice for most of the year.

Not sure if these mean anything but these are Ben Lennons Tweets,

Could this mean Brissy will take him as he may not get homesick with his sister up there?

I don't think Bontempelli has the same level of skill execution or is as 'ready-made' as Scharenberg, from the limited amounts I have seen.

Whether the scope for improvement is too great to ignore for the Pies, will have to wait and see.

Haha not to worry, the Cats will be strong for a while yet. Motlop is a freakshow and Caddy will help out Selwood next season, smooth sailing!

Speaking of Motlop, Cox (NT) has that same uncanny ability as well in this draft - shame he's a good 10cm shorter.

does anyone think Hartung could fall to about 25-30?

10-25 is his range IMO. Any later than 25 and the lucky club got an absolute steal.

Serious athlete and attitude, oh and very good footballer.

there has been mentioned in random places he has a really bad attitude? is that legit or just usal bigfooty goss

Not sure, never met him. Do know he has been training very hard for a couple of years now, balancing both triathlons and footy.
