Well three have been outed this morning. All 3 plus Collingwood who have had blokes at Swan District games working with him on specific aspects of his games.

I've said all along this guy is a top 10-15 talent in this draft and he was top 10 this year. Been surprised some think he wont go this year. The changes this kid has made to his life have been remarkable and many kids have gone years before for doing less. I think the scope of this kids problems have gone a bit over the top at times as well.

Realistically cant see him being around when we're in the draft.. unless we're taking him at 10

Do you think Dogs draft could go
4: J. Aish
42: B. Brown/T. Nankervis
60: N. Bourke
96: M. Gibbons
116: Rookie upgrade(B. Goodes)
Is this possible and would it be a good draft for us?

It's a possible outcome.

Bourke may not be there at 60 though. Brown/Nankervis no guarantees either though likely one of the other is there.

Nah the mail I have is the boys were assessing him for rookie and had been at nearly all his games this year. It would surprise me if we were looking at him for #10 but on talent he is probably worth it. Not many 19yo's had the impact on state league footy this year like he did and he has fixed a lot of things in his life.

Still....am hoping Bontempelli and Scharenberg slide to us.

I kinda mentioned the same thing in your phantom a moment or three ago. And as i said there, someones going to get really lucky with him on a late pick. I hope that we consider him strongly at 67 if he's available because anywhere below 50 is an absolute steal

Just saw that Garlett has regular phone calls with Alastair Clarkson, he will more than likely be a hawthorn player.

Do you think collingwood could throw a curve ball in the top 10 and get key forward Cameron McCarthy? In the last 2 years they have picked up Kennedy, broom head. This year Adams, Karnezis, another mid in the top 10 (should all be decent midfielders). They lost Jackson Paine. Q.lynch & J white i don't see as the future. Besides Cloke, N.brown and Reid there key position stocks aren't huge. Pick 6 would not be worth it but if he was there at pick 10 they could swoop?

It's possible.

It's either McCarthy this year or someone else next year.

We'll find out soon enough what Collingwood have in mind but if I had to hazard a guess they'll probably wait till next year unless the combination of players they like aren't there in which case that's perhaps when McCarthy may come into calculations.

KM, who would Geelong pick first (if available) Darcy Gardiner, Lewis Taylor or Blake Acres?
C2B

It will be interesting to watch.

Not at all clear who the selection would be of those three as three I could definitely see Geelong picking.

If Taylor's there I can't help but think for value perhaps he's the selection and very hard to overlook.

KM do GWS need Boyd at pick 1? They already have Cameron and Patton. I feel GWS would be better with Kelly at 1 and Scharenberg at 2. Feel like GWS lack that utility player and Scharenberg provides that. Would then pick Crouch or Jones at 14 to replace Adams.

In that case go Boyd and Scharenberg.
To slide Boyd to 3 would be draft tampering.

GWS do have Cameron and Patton already who can be 10-15 year key forwards.

That said you don't give up the chance to add Boyd. He's a slightly bigger and better Patton and hasn't missed a year with a knee.

You don't give up the chance to add that for anything with these bigs rarely available for picking.

Kelly and Scharenberg on the other hand I'm not so confident develop into premier players in this draft. Kelly is a sure thing to develop and he'll become a productive player, but more a component of a team rather than someone who makes you all that much better.

Scharenberg is a tall flanker and good by position but again I don't see him as a gamechanger that Boyd can be.

I'd pass on both with picks 1+2.

Pick 14 definitely won't be a key forward.

GWS optimally would like to add some tall midfielders so I don't see the looking to replace Adams. They have other similar size and type midfielders so he doesn't necessarily need to be like for like replaced. They may look at Acres as one example of someone who would fit with their list as someone a little different.

Thanks for your response.

I'm going to suggest very very strong, albeit at 10.
That's what I am thinking too, would only need to get past Brisbane (not sure what type of player they will be looking for with their first pick) because I don't think Melbourne would grab him, and if that happens I reckon he'd be well in line for Collingwood's pick 10. Would be awesome :thumbsu:

Chances of Kolodjashnij ending up at Collingwood if overlooked at 5 for GC? Would like him to get there.

Collingwood need more height and class.

It's understood that Kolodjashnij is on the shortlist for Collingwood.

Aish and Bontempelli are the most heavily linked to Collingwood from what I can gather so my assumption is one or the other regardless got at 6. But at 10. Sure.

KM, what do you think about Jed Redden? His brother Jack went much higher than was projected and that has worked out! I think they both had less exposure than usual due to School football? I read that Jed tested well in the beep test and was playing forward for school and back for Glenelg. I like the idea of all the Redden's playing for Port.

KM, firstly thanks so much for your efforts.

Given the Crows specifically targeted Edwards from GWS and Polec, and missed them both, I'm concluding they may look for a similar type player at 23. Tallish, outside , running defender/mid that can take a mark and use well.

Im thinking Bourke or Miller - thoughts on either of these 2 filling that role and whether they are reasonable to pick up at 23 or might they last to 46?

Cheers

Is Jed a brother? A huge difference in their heights

He's not like Jack.

I wouldn't get caught up in the romantism of taking a guy because of who he's related to.

Jed is a KPP/Ruck. As a ruckman he's a poor hitout ruckman. As a KPP he doesn't stand out either and has a lot of developing to go before he becomes relevant. Doesn't find a whole lot of it around the ground.

Not too many talls this year I have positive things to say about.

Perhaps from what you are describing Jon Marsh comes into calculations as a consideration as a real injection of speed.

Bourke and Miller are more guys I'd imagine to will come more into calculations from pick 30 onward. No guarantee either are there at 46 but it's possible.
