Sorry mate I meant Walsh, Bradley Walsh. I was having a bad day yesterday!

Walsh isn't a linebreaker, super skilled by foot or a massive volume goalkicker through the midfield so he probably doesn't go first round as a relatively smaller mid but he looks exceptionally draftable as a mid draft guy with some real ability. He's got an excellent inside game and has close to if not the best inside game in this draft as someone who reads the ruck taps so well, is first to the ball and consistently wins it inside the contest.

Yeah really like Walsh but not sure he would still be there 2nd or 3rd round, AIS captain and similar game to Sam Mitchell, had a good game against Collingwood seconds at the G and excellent tour in Europe

Any mature age players with chance of getting drafted?

No older types loom as early draft selections but some might come through later in the season and show improvement.

Some of the overagers look likely though and like last year I feel a few are likely to get selected.

Darcy Cameron as a ruckman has been performing really well in the WAFL seniors after being unlucky last year. Erin Wasley-Black was unlucky last year and should be on the radar again. Nathan Drummond with his athleticism looks half a chance also.

How much do you think Cockatoo's injury will effect his draft position?

Looking at Cutler and Robertson last year it's still possible that he features late 2nd or early 3rd. Other clubs in the past have taken relative risks in similar positions in the draft. Cockatoo is good enough still to go in the national draft and a club mid draft I hope takes a shot - perhaps a Gold Coast or GWS who both can afford to take a chance with the concern re. Cockatoo more around his recent injury history and what those injuries have been more so than talent.

KM... Ive spent a good 20 minutes reading through this page, seen some great stuff, but i was so dissapointed not to find Tom Wilkinson from Sandringham on here? Not sure if you are aware... the kid runs a 16.8 beep (also known as best beep in aus), has crazy speed and athleticism, is a strong contested ball winner/extractor with extreme defensive pressure! He has played in 4 TAC games, got in the best for every game, plus 2 best on grounds, and kicked 3 in his last game accompanied with 25+ touches. Been very consistent thus far? what are your thoughts?

Hi Tom Wilkinson's mum.

I don't get to follow the U18s living os, but the reports on Harry Dear seem positive on the Hawks board. Suggestion is that he's raw but very well built. Any thoughts on him and if Hawthorn may take him FS?

Dear is showing signs. He's not a first round pick like Waterman and Moore may well be a second or third rounder for Hawthorn if he continues to improve. He's showing signs as a key forward who can also pinch-hit in the ruck occasionally.

He's finding more of the ball this year which is encouraging and last year his tackling pressure stood out and pace stood out. He's in the mix. I'm just waiting to see how he goes against better competition before committing to where I have Wilkinson.

With further improvement he'll work his way into my power rankings.

KM - How many of the AIS squad do you think will get drafter this year?

I'd say most get drafted.

2-6 may not.

Duom Dawan is no certainty.

Others I can only see missing out if they really miss a lot of time with injury or just don't develop.

There is a few midfielders from WA ahead of him.

Tom Wallis (Dean's son) - Calder Cannons under ager. Any thoughts you could shed on him at this stage Knightmare?

He's playing and getting better with each game which is encouraging.

From what I understand he had a strong game v Murray today which is encouraging. He's got a light body.

We'll see more of him over the year but with further improve he's a draft chance next year.

Kyle Langford did not play for northern knights today- is he private sch!! How did he play

I hope we get Nakia Cockatoo, just because, well, just because he has an awesome name. :thumbsu:

Knightmare,

Just wondering if you had any opinion on who the safest bets of the draft are? Like every year there are the 'better' players and all that but there might be a bit more risk/bust potential associated with some of them (but extra reward, too). Are there any players in this draft that you look at and just go 'yep, he's going to be a serviceable AFL player for sure' without much doubt at all; very low bust potential. Likewise are there any of the highly touted prospects that you think are a real chance at being busts? I'm especially curious regarding the KPPs in the draft.

And another question. In your eyes what sets Durdin apart from say, the D. Talia types of previous drafts to make him a top 3-5 projection. Like where does he excel that other junior key backs just don't?

Cheers

anyone know if Cockatoo is related to the Cockatoo - Collins boys?

Hey Knightmare,

I know it's early on in the year and draft picks are near impossible to accurately guess without trade week passing etc, but if St Kilda were to get picks 2, 22 and 43 (so basically 2nd pick at the start of each round) would a draft of Peter Wright, Lachie Weller and Alex Urban be possible in your opinion? My rationale being we've lost some quality guys through our midfield in recent years (Dal Santo, Goddard, Ball and soon Hayes and Montagna) so some quality mids are necessary but we also need a key forward. With these 2 factors in mind who do you think would be good for St Kilda and who at this point is realistic with the above mentioned picks?

Thanks :thumbsu:

I couldn't possibly see you pulling off getting Weller at 22. Gun.
