Whenever you can have the two high, high forwards it's worth doing. I'd be in favour of selecting McCartin certainly. Terrifically dominant talent and it's so hard to find that quality of key forward.

If you don't mind me asking KM - how do you think they'd work together? On paper it sounds good with Hogan capable of playing up the ground and McCartin more a full forward, do you see any issues? Does their game compliment each others?

Couldn't agree more KM , check this video out from last year , , the kid injured this years champs so can't find much vision , but this says it all for me , a tiger I hope !!!

Bampton has missed time this year but when he has played this year has generally been pretty good and terrific last year. Very ready to go and is that real hard midfielder. Anyone looking for a midfielder late first and second round would do well to look closely at Bampton.

Hey Knightmare just in regards to DeGoey. People seem to struggle to find a current player to compare him to. I haven't seen him play but going off the write ups and highlights packages he seems to remind me a lot of Luke Parker from the Swans. who would you compare him to? I see that he has slid down your order quite dramatically in your last update but I think he seems like the player that Freo may go for if we are able to lure Frawley over.

Comparing De Goey to Parker is very generous. But most comparisons are.

In style I compare De Goey to Bartel in the sense that he can play mid/fwd and is a strong mark overhead. Just not nearly as productive or dominant by position. He is still a first round chance I personally wouldn't be prepared to pay so much for him given his mild production.

McCartin and Hogan? I see them as an ideal fit.

McCartin is best suited inside 50 and Hogan is more a natural CHF. I see no compatibility issues.

Reported that Freo have offered Frawley a 7 year deal most likely on more money than the Cats have offered. If he accepts then that should just about stitch up a pick 3. It would be the 2nd longest contract in FA history beating the 3rd longest by 3 years. At worst it will get the Cats to up their offer.
It does throw up a possible but unlikely anomaly. If Freo offer in good faith a deal that they consider fair value which would attract a first round pick but Frawley in good faith decides to accept another offer which is lower and attracts a second pick because of personal reasons (eg location to family etc) the Dees get rolled. Unlikely but possible given the prevalence of 'I want to be with mum' of late.
KM, if the Dees miss pick 3 they would certainly select Brayshaw at 2. You mentioned in your profile he is a round 1 season one starter - just what Roos (and supporters) wants. Would the Dees be better off trading their pick to the Swans for say Mitchell? Ie, who would be best for the Dees - Mitchell or Brayshaw ??
Goodes will be 35 in 2015, LRT has retired, Johnson has a serious knee, Richards will be 32 and Grundy 29 next year. So the Swans will probably want a quality young developing- KPD.

Ok would you offer Frawley that mmm no

If you want a mature ruckman this year Sam Baulderstone from the SANFL is the guy for me. Not a round one immediate player but Baulderstone is my pick as a late bloomer who has shown rapid improvement and significant weight loss from year to year and is a really skilled guy who can find the footy around the ground and use it well while also being a sound tap ruckman. I like the volume of work and commitment to his footy he has shown in recent seasons and given his yearly improvement he is someone I would back in to continue that improvement and have a shot at with a couple of preseasons to become an AFL relevant ruckman.

KM , how does this guy compare to Mumford? Seem's a similar type story. What about skills and speed?

You'd definitely take Mumford first knowing what he has achieved and Baulderstone still not there or even on an AFL list.

Baulderstone has better footskills than Mumford. But not the same special ground level player with no one in the game following up like Mumford.

Baulderstone is a good story as a guy who has lost a whopping amount of weight and has put in the work to first become healthy, but secondly become a very good ruckman. He's a skilled guy who finds and uses it well. Pretty good ruckman. Can occasionally go forward and hit the scoreboard and that could probably improve with time. What I like with him is his improvement from season to season that has come with his significant weight loss and given the work he has put in and the rate of improvement I do like his scope to continue improving.

At AFL level he isn't becoming Mumford but he could with a few years in the system become a handy ruckman whether that be as depth or playing senior games if he continues improving.

down the bottom of each post there'll be an edit timestamp to indicate when the post was last edited. might not always indicate when a conclusive update has happened but at the very least indicates that the poster as of that date is happy with the post (i.e. no glaring changes need to be made)
Yeah I know this but I just thought at the top of the 1st page we can have a date. Not a biggy tho.

Comparing DeGoey to Parker is generous but comparing him to a brownlow medallist is better?

Really?

The bloke has played 3 games since being drafted in 2009. I understand he won the VFL goal-kicking but still, that's a premium for someone who went pick 39 all those years ago.
Hey KM
Do you know if Jarrod Garlett's got a really good attitude and work ethic ? Because he could be something special IMO. Has a heap of talent but as we know talent just don't cut it.

What can u tell me about Oscar McDonald Km? Thanks again

Like him. Very well performed key defender. Kept Wright goalless the other week. McDonald is a strong 1v1 defender but is also a capable intercept mark. Moves well for a defender.

Not unlike his brother Tom McDonald (Melbourne) but probably a touch more advanced at the same stage.

If you read my previous post it was not a player comparison. Just style of play with a note that his talent isn't in the same realm.

One thing to note with talls and depth ruckmen specifically. If you look back at the trade history these past 10 seasons pretty consistently those depth ruckmen attract second round picks and picks around 30, and that's even the tried and failed ruckmen. If their still on the younger side often they attract closer to a first round selection.

On why Grimley hasn't been playing. It's a hard group to break into and particularly with their ruck depth with even McEvoy outside the senior team. With Hale nearing the end Grimley I imagine Hawthorn would see as the logical Hale replacement as the guy they intend to pair up with Ceglar.

Hawthorn may settle for a pick around 30 but 20-25 would be their starting price in negotiations.

I haven't heard anything about his attitude or work ethic (which I take as a good thing). Given his pace, endurance, ability to find the footy and his improvement over the years I'm optimistic that he'll put in the work and continue his development on an AFL list.

How high can you see macdonald rising KM? Late first round potentially?

I can see Oscar going somewhere second round. I'd have no problem with taking him late first round though given his strong performance this season.

Hey KM if shaun Higgins leaves via free agency what pick will be received in return? Do you know if Will Minson is up for trade?

It depends entirely on how much Higgins was to sign for and how long. To guess roughly a second round pick given the compensation formula is not intended to fully compensate the team losing the player.

I'm not aware of Minson being up for trade. Until there are heavy rumous circulating the media I would assume he is not going anywhere.

He is a nice height. Is he a lock down Lonergan or more the intercept mark type player.
Seems under rated compare to Marchbank or Lever?

Hey Knightmare, when is your next update? Very much so looking forward to it.

McDonald isn't all that far behind Marchbank and is similar as someone who can both stop and intercept. I'd have McDonald in the balanced category. Can both stop and intercept well.

Hey Knightmare, when is your next update? Very much so looking forward to it.

Hoping to get an update up this weekend.

With the TAC season finishing this weekend I'll have more time after this week so my hope will be weekly updates and at least a few profiles a week.

So maybe like Hooker?

So maybe like Hooker?

Hooker until this year has been a liability defensively but always offensively has always been a high volume rebounder.

There aren't a whole lot of really well balanced key defenders from a stopping and rebounding standpoint. Harry Taylor is probably the only one who has really always had that balance right from the start but obviously not the same level player. But for an accurate comparison his brother Tom is largely what to expect and probably a slightly better version in Oscar.

Hopefully by the end of the weekend I'll have a small update complete - and plan to from this weekend have weekly updates.

Would you also be attending the Draft Camp?

KM, do you still rate Keitel ahead of McDonald in terms of KPD?
