Km, Crows now have picks 14 and 35 who is the best tall at 35 and do you see us going with speed with 14 and a tall with 35 or vice ferser?

and some examples of pace available at those picks

In my opinion there appears to be relatively sold top #10 currently in Petracca, Brayshaw, McCartin, Wright, Lever, Durdin, Laverde, Pickett, Weller and Moore. If they are indeed the first 10 selections in the draft, who do you suspect West Coast might target?
Ahern or Duggan perhaps? Do we take the risk with Cockatoo? Invest in a KPD like Marchbank or Goddard? Jump on an exciting prospect like Langford, Lamb or Menadue? Reach for a needs selection in Garlett, or another West Aussie in Blakely?
None of them are particularly standing out to me, I'm just praying that Weller, Laverde or Pickett slide!

Hey Knightmare,
how is laverade compared to bontempelli? I remember you not rating Bontempt either last year and had him a similar range as Laverade in your power rankings as well as relatively close comments? What are their differences? Does Bontempt have something Laverade lack such as athleticism or game sense?

Bontempelli is the better of the two and I rated him more highly last year than I do Laverde. I did in the bigfooty phantom take Bontempelli at 6 for the Pies last year for those who follow that (http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/the-2013-bigfooty-phantom-draft.1039811/).

Laverde I like but don't rate as extremely high. If Collingwood pick him I'm ok with that, of the non key position players he is one of those better other options, but he doesn't have Bontempelli's ceiling, not that it's clear anyone in this draft does with Bontempelli surprising even his biggest fans.

Bontempelli is more a midfielder and proven midfielder. He did have a super impressive 50 disposal, 10 goal game last year at school footy level. That doesn't happen by accident. It's mostly just unlike Laverde, Bontempelli did play some midfield which is the difference. That and he was those extra months younger as a December birthday.

I predict Adelaide go tall first up and fill the other needs later.

One of Durdin, Goddard or Marchbank should be available at 14 and I imagine Adelaide moved down knowing that.

If Adelaide wanted speed early they likely would have retained pick 10 to get one of Pickett or Ahern.

Some will say what about Cockatoo and McDonald could go that next pick, so that's possible also but the expectation seems Adelaide go tall first.

Menadue could be a chance for pace at 35 if he slides. Daniel McKenzie may be there. Clem Smith is probably there. Castagna and Butler offer extreme speed and probably don't require pick 35 to get. Same story with Drummond. Speed can always be had late/rookie draft.

Ahern and Duggan are top 10 chances. Maybe a Durdin or Pickett slides past 10. They're all in that top 12 conversation anyway.

West Coast probably would like Pickett or Ahern or some other slider. Both are probably gone by that stage and are left with Duggan/Durdin/Langford/Cockatoo depending on preference.

Who are some players that would fit the bill at Adelaides pick 14? KM

I was interested in Oscar McDonald, but now we obviously followed up interest in frost. Are they similar defenders or frost more a raw athlete, any have we still go McDonald later if available? Just liked the idea of him joining his brother at the dees.

The remaining player of Durdin, Goddard and Marchbank is likely the pick. Marchbank is presumably the one still remaining.

McDonald may be available later, I've mostly just talked him up on my own but I do think somewhere mid draft he'll get taken.

A Daniel Nielson late draft could be had as a shutdown key defender.

If looking immediate and only want to use a rookie selection Michael Hartley as a shutdown specialist is also a good one.

There are always options but the most appealing are those expected to go early draft.

Knightmare, do you think we should take an outside skilled player at one of 21 and 22?

Someone like Garlett or Menadue?

I expect the Saints go best available talent and whoever is highest on their draft board at 21,22. The list needs are extensive for the Saints so I wouldn't limit options to a specific type. Talls, inside types, outside types.

Garlett I sense (speculatively) may just go inside the top 20. Menadue I expect will be available. Both could be among those considered by the Saints.

Seriously the lions obviously need some talls now...but would there be any quality around that mark? Im kinda hoping Caleb Daniel is available and we go with the little fella

Any Idea who the Lions will pick with their first pick...pick 67

Obviously not given they passed but not even Brisbane will know who will be available and their eventual pick.

Matthew Hammelmann? Brisbane obviously won't take Hammelmann but if looking tall late draft Logan Austin, Dougal Howard and Nicholas Coughlan are all talls GWS were wrong to pass on and around that mark could develop, as rare as that is with talls taken that late. All have good talent and all have improved strongly over the course of the season.

If looking mature age Brett Eddy and Michael Hartley forward and back respectively are others who as rookies who both can play.

Knightmare who do you think Freo will take at 13? And which range do you expect Tom Lamb to be drafted at?

Freo probably go with a Goddard or Marchbank I would guess.

Lamb probably goes in the 10-20 range to narrow down his draft position but it's possible he goes slightly higher/lower with opinions on him varied.

Knightmare, if this draft goes the way you have predicted it to - what clubs do you think would be the big winners?

Who are some genuine midfielders from pick 50 who would be worth drafting?

Knightmare, what's your primary reason for rating Lever outside of the Petracca-Brayshaw-McCartin-Heeney-Moore group? Lower ceiling, or just a lack of exposed form (with no 2014 season)?

Knightmare, if this draft goes the way you have predicted it to - what clubs do you think would be the big winners?

Sydney getting Heeney.

GWS getting Lever and Wright (or even if it's McCartin) would be a strong result and they'll get Jack Steele later than he should otherwise go and Jeremy Finlayson through the academy also is good value with their final selection.

Collingwood benefit from Moore through father son.

But beyond those already pre-decided aspects to the draft Gold Coast would be a big winner - Weller, Langford and Bampton would be an incredible outcome with those picks.

Adelaide if they get Marchbank, Gore and particularly McLean late would be big winners.

Who are some genuine midfielders from pick 50 who would be worth drafting?

Caleb Daniel if ok going small.

Gregson and McGrath are other smalls who at that stage would be good gets.

Many will say Goodyear and Drummond at that stage.

Occasionally some good mids come later but this year probably around pick 30 is where you want picks if you want mids with Bampton/Blakely/Neal-Bullen/Gore all likely to go around about that stage.

With exposed form this season Lever could be but having not played this year it does make the evaluation more tricky.

It's more I just see Lever as a very, very good player but not star level player. The others are more dominant players with star level talent.

Yeah fair enough. I'd be pretty keen to turn him into a full time or Bont-style midfielder, which could further lower his ceiling or blow it open I guess.

What are the chances of Daniel Mckenzie lasting until pick 50? None?

Its as if you read my mind. My fears exactly. Geelong moving up to pick 10 really doesn't help

Knightmare i love your work but no way we take durdin at 10 after our trade period. Mids it is,preferably with speed.

Question, which of weller, pickett, laverde and ahern do you think are most likely to fall to 10 and in the (unlikely) event they were all there, who would you pick and why?
