Knobel may be a tiger

I think Knobel will be fine to have, but I'm not sure if he's worth as much as he wants. The article posted today suggests we will pass on McKee because he has a groin problem and has had so for a long time.

Problem is that by drafting Knobel it will most likely mean we only can use one pick. I would have liked us to draft a good leftover kid as well to make it 8 kids brought in to the main list this year. The we could still rookie list the next best available. By drafting Knobel, we only get one of the best kids and we only get to rookie list them, all other teams will then pick up rookies before we get another pick.

the club has two spots on the list and we have two picks in the PSD. lets hope we use them.

Something to consider about Knobel is he never really needed to clock up the stats in that side. If you have a look at the StKilda mid field, why would you want your ruckman touching the ball?

He'd only ever be insurance anyway, we know Stafford can't play an entire season and will be gone next year.

Rookie list players earn half of what a listed player would. I'd prefer us to pass on that last PSD pick and take 2 rookies instead. Leaving the list vacancy makes it easier to promote a rookie list player without having to play around with the long-term injury list.

I understand your point, but realistically with these kids we are talking about 8th-10th round draft picks. Not really too much to get fussed about. Furthermore I'd guess 50% or more of rookie list choices will be recycled players and older guys from state leagues.

True. My thinking is that most of the talls we picked up were later picks so they are probably less likely to be guns, so it is probably worthwhile picking up someone like Kirkby to add a bit more depth there.
