The Brisbane Lions have welcomed a new crop of exciting young talent to its list on night two of the 2025 Telstra AFL National Draft at Marvel Stadium.

Western Australian duo Koby Evans and Cody Curtin joined the Lions at pick 38 and 43 respectively, followed by Queenslander Tai Hayes at Pick 44.

The Lions opened the night drafting Evans, a 188-centimetre hybrid forward from Perth, after West Coast chose not to match a bid for their NGA talent.

Evans is known for his blistering pace and strong goal sense, who despite some injuries during his underage campaign still showed his potential.

“We are super excited to add Koby to our list because he is a very talented player,” Conole said.

“He had to overcome adversity this season and continued to work through this.

“Upon resumption of his injury he was outstanding at Colts level and made his League debut late in the season.

“He is a longer-term option, and we look forward to seeing his development as a Brisbane Lion.”

AFL draft: Brisbane pick Koby Evans not surprised West Coast Eagles did not match bid

“I had a bigger picture, because I knew West Coast were going to match Tylah’s bid wherever that was, because they had had Tylah in front of me,” Evans told The West Australian.

“I kind of already knew that they weren’t going to match it, so it was just what club was going to call my name now.”
“I’m stoked, over the moon. I was at home with family and friends (watching the draft). My mum started crying,” Evans said.

“I love to tackle so I love watching Josh Dunkley, I’d love to learn off him.”
