From the D&T..

Stevens has multiple assets.

He is a strong mark. A strong tackler. A protector/enforcer for his team mates. A big strong body. He is strong overhead. He is a good set shot. He has high production. His good is very good. To the extent he polled more Brownlow votes this year than all but 5 other Dogs in a mid heavy premiership team. In less games, he polled more B and F votes than say Jong.

Sure he has weaknesses. But many would consider that in form, fully fit and committed he was best 22 in the Dogs' flag team.

Apart from you I've heard no one refer to him as a shit truck or spud. Probably because most people (like our list manager who offered him a contract that he declined or the list managers of other clubs) see it as obvious that he is far from a 'spud'.

Wanted him ladt time and was disappointed we didnt get him. Has followed him and he has been good for the Bulldogs.

One worry was that with all the injuries they had he couldnt break into the 22. Although he did have an injury diring the year.

So
Carlisle
Steele
Stevens

All in the 22
Hopefully Freeman comes good

I'm hoping it's a sign of increased rotations in the midfield, more clearances and better contested footy.

The 2 years for minchington and wright seems at odds with our trading though.

Interesting that he met up with Richo. If Richo thinks he can get more from him then I back him in. Seems that consistency has been his issue, as he is clearly up to the level as shown by bog performances at afl level.

With Steele and Stevens we've got some good midfield depth developing. It will be very hard for the likes of Eli, Wright and Minch to maintain spots, but that's a good thing as we need everyone improving.

29 touches & 9 tackles in the VFL GF
Wouldn't be basing anything off that VFL game, was absolutely shocking that day.

I love Koby and will be sad to see him go. His best would see him in the top 10 at your club, just consistency and a few injury issues holding him back. Gives it his all and will never back down from a contest. Many good attributes with his marking, goal sense, tackling but is a bit scratchy on his decision making at times.

I expect him to be best 22 at the Saints next year, and assuming you'll get him for a late pick, it's essentially a free hit for someone who on his day can be BOG level player.

Was very good last year before injury finished his year early. Started this year brilliantly but was never the same after he got injured against North. Only played one good game after that (vs Gold Coast) and didn't really light it up in the VFL games I saw either. With a bit of time to rest up and then a full preseason he should be back to his better form next season.

Has his limitations but he has a lot of good attributes (strong tackler, good mark, great endurance). Think he'll be a great pick up for you guys, but for what it looks like you're going to give up, even if he is just a stop gap for a few seasons while your younger mids continue to develop it probably isn't a bad deal.

Good luck to him at the Saints.

He'll give you everything every time he steps on the field. Big body, hard at it, and can play a number of roles around the ground. He's good in a contest but contrary to reports from others, in my view he's only a reasonable mark above his head given his size. An excellent pickup for the low price you'll likely get him for.

It's funny, I actually think Koby is better suited to additional minutes on the outside. His ability to win inside ball is excellent and he has long been regarded as that type of player but he often mindlessly disposes of the ball after winning it under pressure. Turnover prone. Around half forward though his ball use is actually quite good; he is reasonably good at spotting up targets when he has a little bit of time.

He's certainly more of a midfielder than a forward (but could be useful at half back, which we tried over the pre-season and did quite well) but I wouldn't be pigeon holing him as an inside mid. Very much inside/outside.

His best games for us were very, very good, and I hope for his and your sake he can begin to bridge the gap between his best and worst and have a bit of luck with injury.

So we have all these inside mids. Other than Jack Steven we have no outside mids with speed. Hopefully we can trade some guy's for some speedy mids.

He'll do well for you blokes. Was bloody good 12 months ago but this year whenever he looked to be getting into form he'd cop a knock and it set him back. Plus Dunkley came in and was pretty decent.

He couldn't really get a look in over Macrae, Bontempelli, Libba, Dahl etc. But I reckon he'll probably slot into your midfield better than ours (hope that doesn't sound condescending). I would rather we kept him over Jong.

I would have had him pegged as a second rounder last year, probably a third now. Hopefully you're 2017 third.

Good solid move that really has no negatives. He either ends up a best 22 player for the next few years or makes our younger player even better by making them work even harder for their spot.

Koby along with Steele makes us a bit bigger in the midfield as well which I'm sure will make everyone happy!

Competition for spots next year is going to be through the roof.

Koby will do ok for you guys. Up until his mid season injury last year he was one of my favorite players due to the hardness he brought with his game. Few Bulldog supporters will be happy to see him leave but the reality is that Koby's form this season hasnt been consistent enough to warrant pushing selection over the likes of Picken who effectively took his role. Cant blame the guy for wanting to try his luck elsewhere

If it happens, he'll be a handy addition to your list nonetheless.

Liked the post purely for the Marcus Proudson under your name. Unreal.

Happy to have him , not a gun but adds to our very important depth . Baring injuries shouldnt be in our best 22 .

Yes we do need some speed but we
needed some grunt too.

We may get a quick player with pick 10 while Freeman still has 2 years to run on a contract.

Gresham offers that bit of speed too he's a great player to have in the midfield
