when koby and shuey are on the field, west coast will be a much better team, and people will see west coast's talent is not that bare.

^ Along side Swift and Masten these four should be able take us places. All have obvious talent. Good enough for other guys to piggy back on.

The guy that will suprise people the most is Andrew Strijk, currently on our rookie list. Explosive midfielder, strong overhead and his kicking is laser like.

Id be looking to draft a goal kicking outside midfielder this year.

How is Gerrick Weedon looking? Despite having a terrible name, is he progressing alright?

I thought he was taken a bit early

Another that needs to work on his endurance as well.

But I think he's our most outstanding natural talent, has incredible clearance ability and xfactor.

He is a very silky mover, but missed all preseason with a hip injury that he had surgery on.

Will start as a foward, but if he can improve his endurance will end up playing in the centre.

Kids with his clearance ability don't come along everyday.

Where's Ash Smith at? I thought he was a very good player when he was at the Rays.

Is he a chance to debut soon?

He's close to getting a debut, he has been really consistent. He just needs to take his game to another level at WAFL level and knock the door down.

He had a massive preseason to get his running power up to speed. He still need allot more physical development, he's probably lost a little of his break neck pace in an attempt to bring his fitness up to an acceptable level.

You would think that he would be getting marginally quicker by being much fitter and losing the puppy fat he had weighing him down.

Can't wait to see how Koby develops after having a full preseason. He's a star in the making.

on a side note...

why do the eagles consistently draft players with injury clouds over them?

Masten - OP
Ebert - OP
Shuey - Generally Unlucky (glandular fever ffs)
Stevens - OP
Weedon - Hip Surgery
Swift - Two knee injuries

Are we trying to find undervalued picks all the time and taking a huge gamble in the mean time?

Have been wanting to bring this up on our board for some time.

I can understand the gamble on them based on talent, however I think the issue is made far worse by the big hard grounds of WA. Certainly can't be helping.

You could also draw the straw by having so many injured youngsters coming into the club that they start from far further back than a lot of other draftees and therefore are a part of what looks to be our current shithouse development.

While certainly not a silver bullet or maybe not even being a main part of our current issues you would have to think that having an epic gulf in the important 23-27 year old age group of players coupled with having youngsters coming from further back would at least be a factor.

I'd think we'd back our medical staff to get them right eg. Shannon Hurn. Had OP in his draft year was touted as a potential no.1 pick definite top 5 then slid to 13 due to concerns of the injury. Look how good he has turned out.

For all his great kicking skills and how much i love him prem. He's about as fast as a 100 year old tortoise with arthritis and from what i've seen he cant handle a tag at all.

Really wanted the Tigers to have another pick in the early second round last year so we could pick him up. He was a mad keen Tigers supporter too. If he is over his OP you will be very pleased I think. Ferocious attack on the ball.
