2nd round pick below 35 = deal. Anything worse you can gagf

Well with 5-6 vic clubs rumoured to be interested in Kobe then pick 35 or better maybe possible. I certainly wouldn't want my club parting with pick 32 for him. I could think of a dozen mids in the draft I'd rather take

Pick 32? dreaming

Monfries was a solid but not outstanding best 22 player for us who averaged 18 games per year, he went pick 48.

How does Koby compare to that to warrant pick 32?

koby didnt play games due to west coast already having a plethora of inside mids.. they couldnt fit him in alongside priddis, scooter and kerr.

at essendon it drops away quite dramatically after jobe and hocking so he would fit into your 22 nicely,

a pick at 30- low 40s is about right

Essendon's pick 32 will probably become pick 35 by the time free agency compo picks are handed out. Haven't seen much of Koby and not sure he's shown much. Loved the sound of him pre-2009 draft. A swap for a similar quality fringe player might be the go, but not sure who that is.

Pears :)

I would not mind the bombers picking up Stevens. The bloke has barely had a crack aside from being sub every week.
32 would not be far off the mark, but it is our first pick. If the recruiters have earmarked someone in the draft who they are keen on around this pick, then the would be reluctant to use it.
Maybe as someone posted 32 & 48 for Stevens and 38. Probably sounds about right.

This is poor logic and is incorrect.
Gus went as 48 basically as a good will trade between Port and Ess, as if he went FA Port would have got hurt more than pick 48 and we would have got nothing. Pick 48 was the compromise.

If Gus was traded properly without FA he would have gone for more than 48.

Its not poor logic at all, Monfries is twice the player Koby is. If Koby wasnt built like a brick sh*thouse people wouldnt be saying he has potential. His kicking isnt flash (almost Ben Doolan like) and in todays game that means a lot.

Essendon could have played hard ball and Port wouldnt get its compo pick for the loss of Chaplin and Pearce. Truth is Monfries isnt worth a 2nd rounder and neither is Koby.

Koby based on "potential" and nothing more is worth something between 40-60 at best.

What did J kennedy and Mcglynn go to Swans for?

It is poor logic to use pick 48 = Monfries to guage player worth.

It is like suggesting that Goddard isn't even worth a 5th rounder because he went for nothing.

But in regard to the rest of it, you may be right. I think Koby is a hotter prospect on BF than he is in the real world. BF phantom drafts had him first round and were praising WC for nabbing him at 26. 48 on it's own may get the job done.

Why is that Carlton are missing an inside midfielder?

Stats (avg)

Andrew Carazzo: 6.1 Clearances, 12.1 Contested Possessions, 4.7 Tackles

Chris Judd: 5.8 Clearances, 11.8 Contested Possessions, 3.6 Tackles

Marc Murphy: 5.6 Clearances, 12.8 Contested Possessions, 3.9 Tackles

Brock Mclean: 4.4 Clearances, 11.4 Contested Possessions, 5.2 Tackles

Don't think Koby would walk in.

You are forgetting that Koby is a replacement player for Daniel Kerr, that means in the eyes of Eagles posters, like Mitch Brown, who is another replacement player, he is worth a 1st Rd selection.

*yawn* I personally would give Koby Stevens away for free... but hell if someone is willing to pay and are stupid enough go for it.

Looks like some people can't make the distinction between output and ability.

I've seen both his output and ability. He is not all he is talked up to be... and our lack of selecting him when at times we selected others like Swift... shows the coaching staff don't think much of it either.

Possibly because Swift had a better season in the WAFL and was fit when he was required to step up, his retirement makes Stevens departure all the more frustrating and disappointing.

I don't see why Essendon or Collingwood would have any massive need for Stevens, so I wouldn't want to see him go to a place where he's unable to get a chance to show how good is or is not. He needs to find a club that is going to give him game time and he will need to build some consistent form in a more important role. We shouldn't get a midfielder of his ability beyond pick 40 and im being generous.

swift was shit and getting games infront of him.....brad ebert was shit and was getting games ahead of him....

The "we had too many inside mids" is a rubbish excuse. IF he was a good enough player he'd be making the team, regardless of the amount of mids. people used to say Prismall would be a class mid elsewhere and couldnt squeeze into the cats midfield and look at him now. Sure hes been injured a lot but when he has been fit...he certainly didnt show anything other than average-ordinary footy

Sure he's tough and does the team things, but he is very very slow and skills are average. Was ovverated pre-draft and i certainly wouldnt be offering anything too special to get him

I'm happy 30-40. Once you get past 40 really starting to pay unders.
How is it unders ??
The Guy hasnt played at the senior level more than 10 times in 3 years , injuries have had his measure
Average speed(slowish) average Kick. You dont let a valuble player just leave WC dont really mind if he leaves they are just doing the right thing to get him to a club at a decent pick.

Mitch Morton was pick 72 - Anything under 40- west coast have done extremely well #48 is about right

Exactly Right !

All of Thompson,Prismall,Hislop were the same type of player that Stevens is.
