he would be ok at the lions ! dont think he is homesick is he ? just wants to get a a better go in the seniors anywhere

Stevens hasn't specified a preference in where he is traded at this stage. He is from Victoria so you would assume he'd prefer to go home, but he hasn't requested to be traded to a Victorian club.

In these situations the player usually ends up nominating a club, usually based on who offers him the best contract. My tip is he'll go to Melbourne for unders.

Sad to see this guy leave because I had high hopes for him, he suffers badly from stage fright and everytime we gave him his chance to grab hold of a more permanent spot he just plain fluffed it. He lost me with an easy kick for goal when we were getting pumped in NAB cup final this year. Was his chance to stand up, he just doesn't have it to make the big time. Should of stayed with us and may never play another game in AFL again sadly.

He'll pick a club and WCE will accept unders for him. Probably a middle of the road/bottom end club where he'd get a gig ala Carlton/North/Melbourne.

He wouldn't attract a 1st Rd on his own but he could be Josh Kennedy Mk. 2. I think Wellingham will stay but Stevens/Pick 17 for Wellingham/Coll's 2nd Rd pick would be an equitable trade.

I'd love to know on what grounds this guy could be Josh Kennedy Mk2?

Couldn't that apply to every guy who doesn't get a run and requests a trade?

Inside extractors generally have harder gigs to get regular game time if they don't have outside or other traits. WC were never going to play him in preference of Priddis, who is that inside extractor at WC.

I don't know if he has the talent of Kennedy but Kennedy didn't show a lot at Hawthorn and struggled to get game time owing to Mitchell and co having a mortgage on his role. If he goes to a club who have a quality midfield but lack an inside extractor type, his game time will sky rocket.

Wasn't he very good otherwise in that match though?

if the tigers can snare a pick around 27-35 id offer it up. tuck wont be around forever sadly and we need another clearance player anyway.

he's pretty decent overhead too, an area the tigers sometimes lack.

Pick 13 in any sort of deal is way overs, it won't happen. Probably a straight swap for Bennell

I don't think he is any sort of superstar, but could be a very solid midfield contributor for most clubs in the AFL right now and in theory he has plenty of years to get better. Suggesting trading him for a fringe flanker (who in all likelyhood will be delisted) in his 3rd/4th year on an AFL list who can't get a regular game at Melbourne of all places, is the clubhouse leader for the most ridiculous, one sided trade proposed so far this "off season".

This trade is a win win for both teams. If not slightly weighted in the Pies favour.

Although West Coast would be getting a developing best 22 player in Wellingham.

According to our Johnny Butcher (Gippsland Power team-mate, drafted together) via twitter "Been in his ear all year.. Sights set on heading home to Vic though!!!"

The issue I have is it's not just his footskills but his disposal by hand IMO is below par. He tough, wins plenty of it but needs to use it much better by hand and foot.

That trade is weighted in Collingwood's favour. Still, Wellingham will be a sought after player and it may take paying overs to get it over the line. We will see how much the Eagles want him.

of course the trade will be weighted in our favor what the hell has Stevens done at afl level?

Not much but it seems some clubs rate him. He suffered OP and then put on a growth spurt so its not a surprise that he has struggled for consistency. Not many inside midfielders peak before age 21. There is lots of improvement left I have no doubt.

I haven't rated most of the Eagles bait the last few years, McKinley, Spangher etc but Koby is a player who is definitely worth going after and brings AFL qualities to the table.

Players I'd be interested in acquiring in a trade with Stevens (with picks or pick up/downgrades to balance things out):

Sharrod Wellingham
Jeff Garlett
Mitch Duncan
Steven Motlop
Reece Conca
Tayte Pears (were Brown to leave)
Colin Sylvia

In terms of picks, anywhere between 25 and 35 would be satisfactory, with the better end possibly requiring a pick downgrade elsewhere and the lower end possibly requiring a pick upgrade elsewhere. Personally I'd prefer that we either trade Stevens for a player or trade him for a pick that we could on-trade for a player.

Dreaming if you think you'll get Duncan, Motlop, Conca or Garlett for Stevens. We'd baulk at trading Lucas who is contracted, let alone Garlett to a side who needs a player like Jeffy.

The others could be an option if you add something else to the pot for an uncontracted player who hasn't shown a lot at senior level.

Did I mention that picks would be involved? Pretty sure I mentioned that picks would be involved. If we offered our first round pick and Stevens for someone like Garlett or Motlop do you think the respective clubs would consider it? Of course they would, so cut the "dreaming" bullshit.

You also seem to be equating "interested in" with "thinks you'll get". These are the players I would like us to enquire about.
Regardless it would not surprise me if one of those players were amenable to such a trade, be it for reasons of locality, money or premiership chances. Nor would it surprise me if a club were amenable to such a trade for positional needs or the attitude of the outgoing player.

I hope we don't even consider bringing in Lucas. Offers nothing we don't already have in Gaff, Rosa, Sheppard, Masten, Embley and even Stevenson.

You'd think he'd be dumb to go to Collingwood. Wouldn't be part of the Wellingham deal surely.

Steven has done nothing to suggest that he'll be anything.
