And how does one hack an election malifice? This should be good. Or just ban me from this thread too trying to save face?
Well, according to Assange via Seth Rich, one has a server installed on your own private personal computer, directly linked to the DNC server & with the capacity to access the mainframe on it, in order to skew the official numbers in your favor....Just as a certain Hilary Rodman Clinton did.

And that's even with the super-delegates already in your favor, in reversing State preferences.

How do DNC servers have access to official election system?

And what would have stopped an American from hacking in the exact same way?

I assume the RNC can do the same?

Does this mean there hasnt been a legitimate President since Reagan? Or maybe even Carter?

Sometimes your posts are interesting. But this one is just dumb.

I have no doubt the Russians meddled. Just not this way. Thing is, I bet the Chinese snooped too.

Just like the NSA snoop on basically everyone.

The left don't care about others any more than people on the right do . The reason the left want high levels of taxation is because they personally benefit from government spending either via a wage or welfare payment.

Look at how many people drowned to death because of left wing boarder policy. The right have a far more human approach.

Dont talk to me about religious dogma, the lefts climate change religion is causing vulnerable australians to freeze to death because they can't afford to keep the heater on .
I thought it is rational to let boat people drown if they want to risk it. But would also need an economic analysis whether we have benefit once they get here (if get employed and pay taxes) vs costs (if can't work).
I think terrorist threat level is independent of illegal immigrants (think there was some study stating radicalised youth come from 2nd generation of legal immigrants)

They use metadata.

In essence your online presence (plus your mobile phone). It tracks your google searches, your likes on facebook, re-tweets, likes and quotes on internet forums, pages visited, cookies, GPS and health data from your phone, where you use your credit cards and travel cards (and what one), travel bookings, biometric scanning from cameras, medical information etc etc.

The same stuff that tailors advertisments to you when you visit sites. Only much more detailed.

Once they have that informaiton, they can use it to deduce an amazing amount of information about you from what political persuasion you are, where you work, what age you are, what your hobbies (and fetishes) are, your sexual preferences, what links you follow, what links you dont etc etc etc.

In essence you have a psychological proflile based on your online presence. They know who you are and what buttons to push, and what your likely response is going to be.

Once that's determined, they find a target demographic thats meets the critereon they are after, and push both real news and 'fake news' (even absurdly obvious crap like Pizzagate, or Clinton secrety dying and being replaced by a body double was another; there were also fake accounts on Breibart and so forth) into the public arena, ensuring that it comes across people thar are likely to spread it (and discuss it) virally on social media. These memes then get a life of their own. They engender even more discussion. The bullshit influences voters (in these demographics, and with certain voter profiles) to vote in a certain direction (or not vote at all).

I was reading an article about it the other day. It was fascinating (and horrifying) reading.

Thats a subtle way they can influence elections. There are other (more direct) methods.

Here is how easy it s using ONLY google search results:

They recruited 2,150 people from 27 of India’s 35 states and territories to participate in their experiment. (To take part, they had to be registered voters who had not yet voted and who were still undecided about how they would vote.)

Again, Epstein predicted that their manipulation of search results would produce only a very small effect, if any – but that’s not what happened. On average, the researchers were able to shift the proportion of people favoring any given candidate by more than 20 percent overall and by more than 60 percent in some demographic groups. In addition, 99.5 percent of participants showed no awareness that they were viewing biased search rankings.

y ex mistress used to work for a big advertising compay in London, and they basically do the same thing (use metadata to tailor advertisments and search engine results to the correct demographic).

Scary shit.

My understanding of how it works is:

Step 1: Create Trojan
Step 2: Insert Trojan into [torrent file, HTML code in a web page accessed simply by viewing it etc]
Step 3: You download the file/ view the page. Trojan now lives on your computer/ phone
Step 4: Trojan collects information (your cookies, search history, GPS data etc)
Step 5: Information collected elsewhere (in this case Russia) and algorithyms sort out psychological profiles of victims
Step 6: Use information to seed bullshit to influence [whatever].

You supplement the above with hacking or (or in some cases lawfully obtaining) other sites data. Apple, Facebook, Google etc

Its rather shocking what you can do with that information. Customising advertising and search engine results is the promary 'legal' use of it. Tracking 'trending stories' is another. Influencing elections apparently is a third (much less lawful) use.

So for the most part it is very clever targeted advertising similar to what Google have been doing for years. And it wouldnt at all be illegal if they skipped Steps 1 to 4 and just paid Google for the data.

Not sure of the legalities of obtaining or using the data (different jurisdictions have different laws obviously).

But in essence, yes. The collection of personal data, in order to establish a psychological profile of the person, followed by releasing information (both real, and fake), mechanisms to move things up in the order of search results, and burying real data, with the intent of influencing the election result of a foreign nation.

It can be used to influence your own perceptions of reality, and influence who you vote for (or even if you vote). Its virtually unnoticable as well.

You can sit there and shake your head at 'Pizzagate' (Satanic cult and paedo ring run out of a Dominoes store by the Clintons... really?) or the absurdity of Clinton dying and being replaced by a body double in isolation. Some crackpot stuff.

But placed into the above context, when you consider the legs those stories got, the immense global coverage (of some truy absurd theories that would ordinarily be dismissed and fade away), the reposts and retweets and immense discussion online that followed both, the sharing of those stories, and so forth they become truly scary.

Just for very different reasons. Who is putting those stories out there, and why did they become viral? Who did they influence exactly?

Once you get your head around those kinds of stories getting out, then consider more reasonable coverage that sits among the absurd stuff.

Many people are puppets without ever truly realising it.

You reckon the Dems are too stupid to do it, or smart enough not to advertise it?

In this case it was the Russians.

The only links to the GOP were several highly suspicious communications between a number of Trump staffers and the Russians.

Conversations that Trump staffers have been caught out lying about and have been fired for.

I'm not pointing the finger at the GOP or the Dems. But it's pretty ******* suspicious that Trumps people were talking to the Russians, at the same time the Russians were influencing an election in Trumps favor.

Not what I asked. Why wouldnt political parties be using meta data to target ads to people? Its been around for years and its actually very cheap.

There are very strong rules on political advertising mate.

For a starter it requires full disclosure it's political. You know 'Spoken by Joe Blogs, Authorised by Party X, Canberra.' The funding is also transparent.

This is a whole different kettle of fish.

Their laws are totally different to ours and 3rd party super pacs can pretty much do and say whatever they want.

And how is this hacking an election? You are not hacking the votes, you are influencing the voter, just what every party tries to do come election time

The only reason the Russians are blamed, is because they showed the world the real side of the USA in Syria
