Koschitzke - how many weeks?

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Reading some of the comments in here and on another board I was having flashbacks to Tony Lockett on Peter Caven so had a look at the vision on the afl site and am puzzled. Certainly no worse than what Brett Goodes did last week or Nick Kommer a few weeks back. 2 weeks at the most.

I was surprised that Koshitzke was still on St Kildas list when I saw him playing last night. He definitely won't be at the end of this season. Dog hit, should get 10 weeks, will only get 4.

Goodes' was worse in terms of impact (Caddy was taken off the ground and took no further part in the game); Koschitzke's was worse in terms of intent (Goodes got a 'negligent', whereas I think 'intentional' is the only possible outcome for Kosi). I'm going to stick with 425 points: four weeks, down to three with an early guilty plea.

But, still...he was back out at the start of the third quarter (if I'm not mistaken). Don't know how it could possibly be 'high' impact. High impact would be him getting the vest.
ha. Determining impact based solely on the outcome with reference to the player struck - are you on the match review panel or something?

That's what 'impact' means. The outcome...the result.

In determining the level of impact, regard will be had to the extent
of force and in particular, any injury sustained by the player who was
offended against. Regard will also be had to the potential to cause injury.

Thanks, but I'm getting the out of bounds message on the iPhone.

No doubt it will be dissected over the next couple of days, but the big thing was how far off the play it was. Koschitzke and Elliott were nowhere near the ball, Kosi raised his elbow and clipped Elliott on the jaw with a glancing blow. Elliott went off the ground, looking ordinary, but it was right at the end of the second quarter (from memory) and he was good to go in the third, so hardly missed any actual game time.

Was delayed.

Not sure what to think.

Kosi didn't even appear to think much about it as he trotted away, don't think he knew he hit him high.
I love this logic. Because he didn't drop to his knees and shout "What have I done?", he obviously had no idea he'd elbowed a kid in the face.

Maybe you need to look again. It was a very deliberate elbow by Kosi - no way he didn't know.

As for Elliott taking a few steps before falling over, it looked more like he stumbled rather than just took a few steps.

Way off the ball & totally unnecessary. I know Kosi is not known for his brains but you have to wonder what he was thinking.

Has to be 2 weeks at least

I don't get the scorn for Kosi.

He takes regular visits to the neuro surgeons, had a massively fractured skull a few years ago that leaves him with compromised awareness and brain pain from time to time.

I certainly wasn't saying he didn't shepherd, I'm just saying he probably had no idea he hit him high because he struggles with his awareness at times.

I just don't find it amusing, I find it sad and hope he has a good life after footy.

What a load of crap.

He veered off his line to through the elbow out (not tucked in) to collect Elliot flush in the face and then continued back on his path of travel.

If he didn't realise he did that... then he shouldn't be allowed to play football, drive a car or walk around in public.

Pathetic excuse.

Just an opinion

Thought it was clumsy, not malicious

3-4 weeks.

I think you still misunderstand me, I know he bumped him on purpose but don't agree he got him high on purpose.

There is a massive difference between a head high bump and cracking someone in the head with one of the hardest bones in the body... the front of the elbow.

So 1 second before Elliott runs passed Kosi has his arms by his side...

Then Kosi throws his body towards Elliott a second later with his elbow at 90 degrees to his body... and 1 second later his arms are by his side again!

Kosi can't expect us to believe his elbow has turrets syndrome... otherwise he'd be doing a chicken dance everywhere he went.

7th consecutive season Kosi has been suspended, astounding really. One of the games worst offenders, I wonder if he should have been able to even reduce the sanction with that many under his belt.

He says he meant to check him, but not to hit him high and admits he was clumsy.

I believe him, and I hope you think it's good that he rang Jamie to apologise and make sure he was OK.

Don't expect you to take his word of course, but he is a pretty genuine guy...

Saints should have appealed and got 4 weeks.

Just in case any one didn't get the joke the first 6 times.

It was a clumsy attempt to put physical pressure on a player running forward of the ball, happens multiple times a game except Kosi wasn't quick enough for the Elliot side step and was caught flailing, 2 weeks is a fair result.
