Whilst he just can't seem to have any impact at ground level these days (without giving away frees, nothwithstanding some of them are paid solely because he looks clumsy), Kosi was pretty unlucky not to have a couple more shots on goal - one with the runner, and another late in the 3rd where he marked it after some clever footwork (but the umpire invented that it hit the ground).

5 SC points tonight

How do i know that ????..........

If you're stupid enough to have him in your SC team you deserve it.

Yep. I would never question his effort but it was frightfully obvious tonight that he's absolutely uselss when the ball hits the ground. He has a massive turning circle and can barely bend down to pick up the footy. When the ball was on the ground it was like watching an old man.

On a positive note he kicked 3 goals, took some strong marks and generally gave us a contest even when outnumbered. I would have liked him to have plucked a few more marks from contested situations when he had the sit and got first hands to the ball.

Anyway there were worse players for us tonight so I'm not sure why the Crows supporter had to bump this thread.

I actually thought he was pretty good tonight, although I have to agree with Sainter about his ground level play, give the guy a zimmer frame. Yeah he had some unlucky moments too but thats footy.

If he plays as well as that every week I would be happy for him to keep his spot. I think that was his best game for the year so far.

Go Kosi:thumbsu:

Since when has there been one rule for a team/player, and a different rule for the opposition?
EG. Mitchel getting free in first 1/4 for accidental contact with Dal........for fcuks sake that happens 100 times a game. Or Monty getting 50 meters against him to Buddy because he was standing in Buddy's "arch" Whats happening here? Milne and Schneider can't buy free kicks, yet Hodge and Mitchel can hold the ball for a full five minutes and need to be brought down with an elephant gun before they get pinged for holding the ball. So I have no truck if the Hawk supporters bring up the interchange penalty. By the way I ******* hate the penalty. It seems every week I am losing more and more interest in the game as the umpires become more and more prominent.

That vent out of the way. I was not disappointed in the guys, since Roos return its like they are going through a rusty spot, still works but it is sticking a little, the WD40 is slowly starting to loosen it up. I am more than happy to have it at this stage of the season and not a few weeks later.

A bright start by the big fella, unlucky not to have a couple more shots on goal throughout the match

His impact wasn't as strong, or not as obvious, after the first quarter but was just good to see him get a few on the board, crash the packs, and do some nice blocking work for our smaller forwards (he carved a path and protected Schneids on more than one occassion)

Nice dish-off to someone too just outsaide the F50, think it resulted in a goal

Never looks terrific below the knees, and lucky not to give away a free against Mitchell. Didn't see much in the 50 metre penalty he gave away though (either of them)

Couple of things;

You'd take 3 goals from your FF on average in todays circumstances, so Kosi is capable, continues to be viable and the problems come from elsewhere the majority of times. When he kicked those 3 goals wht was the key difference? The bloke was running, he was attacking the footy and the footy was directed to where he wanted it. Result: 3 goals. There's no point then dropping it on his head so someone can speckie him then is there?

I counted 3 more opportunities he would have had; the two listed int he mark & runner infringement and either of the non paid marks (ground or touched despite being a damned chest mark) but there was also him front & square running into goal and simply being missed with a handball forward and down instead of sideways and up.

So that was a good game from the big man, just needs to be more consistent with it and hopeflly he's found his mojo back with regards to the attack on the footy.

2 of his 6 marks were contested (and the then possibility for 2 more and 1 uncontested which werent paid / reversed) 4 of them were inside 50 and of his 6 possessions 4 were contested (more than Joey had). His problem was 7 listed clangers, and a few of those were soft as melted butter in an overoficiated game.

Kick to the mans strengths and he'll be a solid contributor as a forward, kick it at his bootsheel or ontop of his head and the titanic had a better chance at things.

Kosi is a worry, his three goals last night were handed to him on a plate. His actions for the rest of the game were insipid, and he also had the chance to take a big mark just before the ball was moved down and Rioli got the ball at the other end. I was so frustrated at this point, Kosi needs to take these marks, he is in serious trouble.

Should have kicked at least 4 goals but that dopey runner ran across the mark when he was lining up for goal and got the kick reversed. Also thought he took that mark late in the game, thankfully McEvoy scored from the ball up anyway.

Thought his first quarter was encouraging but then faded out of the game. Need to stick with him though, he had a couple of weeks out with injury and normally takes a while to hit his straps. Hopefully he can build on that performance and play better next week.

His future is in the ruck.....otherwise Kosi will be retiring in two years time after his new contract expires, maybe languishing in the VFL for a significant portion of it.

Goes missing for large parts of the match and a couple of his goals were gifted through his opponent not showing enough respect. He was on his own by like 20m? Just too slow when the ball hits the deck, but is mobile enough to contribute well around the ground as a ruck.

I'm not sure he will cut it in the ruck either.
Personally i'd want Gardiner/McEvoy to be the preferred option next year.
Then we will having Stanley and Gaertner gettig close to ready to ruck, and both of them are probably better at Saints football already.
Kosi's future is as a depth player.

Lyon has alota faith and believe in Kosi, why is this? does he believe he will still fufill his potential? Does anyone else think he'll fufill his potential?

at 28 its hard to see him improving

So according to you, he didnt work hard to find space in the F50 against a team with a zone?

Kosi got away from his opponent (Gilham) and made space to get his goals. Sure he may have been average for the rest of the night, but I beleive his 3 (should have had 4) goals were deserved.

And as Fly said, Id take 3 from your FF any day :thumbsu:

Ross requires Kosi to fill a role and he fills it, that is what consistently communicates. I think we just try to over complicate what is really quite simple, because for some reason the message doesn't seem to satisfy those expecting something entirely different.

Gaertner is not a ruckman. Saying they are better than Kosi is a joke. C'mon brother. His game on Friday night was very positive and you still want to chop him down. How many times has Stanley kicked 3 goals in a quarter, let alone a game at either VFL or AFL level?

3 could easily have been 5. The mark reversed because of the runner was not his fault, and were his mark paid in the dying moments of the last, theres 5 goals. I think there were massive positives from Kosi this week, and some of the uncontested marks he took may be the confidence booster he needed to start taking the more contested ones (like the one not paid in the last). Not unfeasible that he could have ended up with 5, and then I'm sure it would have shut a few more people up. Buddy kicks 5 and he's a god, Kosi misses the opportunity for two through no fault of his own and he's still not good enough. I see a few more games this year where Kosi really makes an impact, and I'm looking forward to them.

What Kosi does that pleases me is protect the space for a teammate to get the ball. Three or four times on Friday night he protected Riewoldt or Schneider with his work off the ball.

What Kosi does that annoys me is how he gets pushed off his running line so easily by opponents, when he is setting himself for a marking contest. Would love to see blokes bouncing off him before he leaves the ground.

Credit where it's due, pleased with that. If I see that kind of performance every week, no complaints from me. 3 goals does not a season make, and neither would 5, but more of that would be pretty pleasing.

Buddy kicks 5 and he's a god

Not really - many people (including me) thought Zac did OK.

Although Buddy (or Lance as Ross calls him) did kick a ripper from inside the square.

Do you really want to compare 19 possessions and 5 tackles with 6 possessions and 1 tackle?
