Kouta: get draft pick

So do you want carlton to win this weekend or not ??

and please answer honestly ..not just what you think you should say

Personally, i want to win this week, like i want us to win every week, if we don't I won't lose any sleep over it, can't change what I don't have a say over. I dont think it is a smart idea, for anyone involved with the club, including supporters publicly wishing for a loss. There is enough spotlight and innuendo without drawing further negative attention to the club.

The big picture as many like to say. Maybe we should weigh up the cost of another season at the bottom of the ladder with 4 or 5 wins.
Priority Pick v. lack of FTA exposure and all that brings with it, do sponsers want to be associated with a club with a losing mentality and little or no exposure to the greater public (TV). Memberships, sales of Carlton products may also diminish due to this.

A priority pick does not instantly mean success or a ten year career at Carlton, it means potential. Nothing is assured in business, life and sport.

As long as they put in 100% effort, win, lose or draw, I can live with the outcome. Out of my hands!

Cheers

I have a philosophy that what happens is out of my control so what will be will be. I also disagree with the public nature of this issue and Carlton supporters and identities being so open about it.

I agree 100%.

Went and bought the Hun and had a read, and guys like David Rhys-Jones and David McKay had a comment to make as well. FFS guys, why even inflame the situation. At least Andy D isn't buying into this tanking talk.

Why do you guys care so much about what people and the media especially think.

Who cares if that idiot Bartlett spends a whole segment on SEN talking about tanking ..

Lose the game get the reward, you don't need to be rocket scientist to figure that one out..

The players arn't tanking anyway. Are you guy suggesting that you were good enough to win more games this year but you didn't....give me a break..Not good enough, take your reward for having 2 crap seasons and move on....play on.

There is absolutely nothing to gain from winning this week- NOTHING,

Regardless of what anyone sais a win against Melbourne this week will be a loss...it will set you guys back even further...

Take the loss - pocket your picks and be happy - think about how you will feel after the game when you lose, i bet there would be afew more smiles on your face then if you had've won.....END OF STORY

LMAO. JeffDunne is losing his mind over the Kouta comments.:D
Someone who can be bothered should ask that loser why he has completely ignored Garry Lyon's comments about Carlton starting favourites for this match.

Lyon works for Melbourne and has inclinated Melbourne will tank the game.

You'd be hard pressed to find a quote from Carlton official saying we're not a chance to win this game.

You've stated your stance in many a thread ..and belittled anyone who had a differing opinion..now former greats of the club are opposed to your ideals .so the question still stands ..are you going to denigrate these greats of the Carlton footy club because they are much more smarter than you and KNOW what our club needs ??
You are like a spoilt child who knows they are dead wrong but just can't admit it .

I agree with ODN... they are muppets for standing up in a formal arena and publicly stating that they want the club to lose. They should have been going to the club and privately showing support.

It just gives the AFL more lattitude in dealing harshly with us again.

I wouldnt say that they are much smarter than me. I seriously doubt that even you are smarter than me.

My public attitude has always been to win every match... Do you know what my private attitude to this whole losing, tanking and the PP thing is?

Hard to swallow that ex players and long time supporters are hoping we lose this week.Where has everyone's passion and pride gone for our club?

They like most of us realise that one more pointless win will deny us a guaranteed gun.

A guaranteed gun you say? And how do you know for sure... do you have a time machine somewhere, or do you automatically assume that #1 will be the best (or will be a star) simply because he was rated at #1? There are never guarantees in the draft.

I wonder what Big Nick and Doull would say about this. Ex-players can have their own opinions, but how many of them actually share Kouta's sentiments?

Exactly. Most old time ex players would be disgusted at current attitudes towards our club.

I'm not saying number 1 will be the best. All I am saying is that whoever he is will be a guranteed gun. There has not been a bad no.1 pick since about 1995. May a quote:

04 - Deledio
03 - Cooney
02 - Goddard
01 - Hodge
00 - Reiwolt

Make no mistake, pick 1 is a 99% guarantee.

You're ignoring the drafts preceding them, though. And still, the streak may break, hence no guarantees.

It also depends how you define "gun". Cooney, Goddard and Deledio are great players but Hodge and Riewoldt are the only stars from the list. The other three need more time as they're not there yet, they haven't been as dominant.

Even if our PP turns out to be as good as one of them, will he be the difference and get us back up to the top? Probably not. The more pressing question is: if we miss out, will it set us back a few years?

Like you said it's hard to judge Deledio, Goddard and Cooney but I'd still take them all in a heart beat at the cost of losing one game. All will play 200+ games. Also, I think even any one of those guys would make a massive difference and would greatly enhance our chances of getting back on top.

Don't get me wrong, losing hurts me immensly but what would haurt me more, is if after all that pain we end up with nothing due to one pointless win against a crappy side.
