Kruezer or Cotchin?

I think we may beat the Bombers, once they lose to Freo this week they'll be shot.

If we only get pick 3, it becomes more vital that our 2nd round pick is a good player.

Two way street. A ruckman hitting it down the throat of the midfielders can make them look better than they actually are. Not saying Kreuzer is that type of ruckman, but after the hitout, he effectively becomes a fifth midfielder. I'd argue that the improvement from an Ackland to Kreuzer would be much greater than adding Cotchin for one of our lower tier mid. Besides, our midfield isn't exactly poor, just inexperienced.

I think the big question here is how long will it take for Kreuzer to be able to have an impact in and play out of AFL games.

IMO Cloke and Aisake will be our 2 main ruckmen in 2008 with Ackland spending most of the year in the twos, Jacobs as backup and Hampson to get some games for experience but not really coming into consideration for serious rucking responsibilities until 2009.

In 2009 ideally Aisake and Hampson will be our 2 main ruckmen with Cloke and Jacobs for depth and Ackland delisted.

If Kreuzer is going to need a few pre-seasons in the weights room until he is ready to contest AFL rucks without getting too battered where would he fit in??

Precisely, the question is not so much what would Kreuzer add over and above Ackland, but do we think that at least one of Jacobs, Hammo or Aisake will make it as better than serviceable ruckmen.

If we can't beat Melbourne the way they're going right now then I'd have to consider that we probably might have tanked.

It may however be all irrelevent. As another poster stated, I think the Bombers arn't much chop and we'd be a real show there also.

Pick 3 it is then.:D Theres the real dilemma, Pick 1 and 2 were concrete in my mind as to who should be taken after that it gets even for the next 4 or 5 for me.

I suspect it wuld come down to Cotchin or Morton at #3, whichever the Tigers passed on....Morton might be best available but in the end is he just an upgrade on Bower/Thorton. Perhaps in the long run a Palmer might be a better addition to our side?

Just saw that he was answering a hypothetical.... not really with it sorry.

What do you think Flint? Will we win another game this year?
We will beat Melbourne and Essendon to build team moral, paper over the list's deficiencies and make a run at the eight next year.........

The bottom eight.

Kreuzer and a mid please to add to our kids, not be the be all, end all like Thrawn keeps going on about.

Repeating yourself ad nauseum doesn't make you right.

Thank God we had those wins in the pre-season competition!

It set us for a great year and gave our young players a confidence boost.

Until we met the Cats.

I think we can beat the Power if they're not switched on.

word has it that every talent scout in the country rated Kruezer as a “Judd” at the same development stage, with speed and power and top endurance, (now that was a big call), went to watch Kruezer and Cotchin against SA under 18’s at PP and I didn’t see anything special, but must of admit it was raining, and not much skills involved. I missed probably the first 8 mins, and Kruezer did do well, from what the reports was, other people where saying during half time, while we watched the Blue boys trained on the ground outside PP. Although I did see some breakaway pace about the lanky fella. Don't know if true or not. Talls are still good for trade bait when needed, if they don't perform just ask our number 11.

kruezer > Morton > Cotchin > Palmer > Ebert

How good would getting 2 of the above players be for our LONG TERM FUTURE. Much better than another win this year I suspect:thumbsu:

Another win will be better long term than the PP

We take who we can get in the draft, if it's Kreuzer or Cotchin or Masten then we will have gotten the best player available.

I think your right, Morton to me looks like the better player, but how many flankers can a team have on it's list. Ebert looks the goods but he's not quick, similar to Gibbs in pace and I'm not sure he offers enough variety to our midfield . Palmer at 3 could be described as reaching a tad but of that next group of players, he seems the best fit to me.

That's the funniest thing I've read in a long, long time.

We might garner more confidence from beating Port and the Kangaroos who are top eight sides, but beating the Bombers and Demons won't make any difference to our 2008 season. There is no substitute for top end talent and adding two likely 150 gamers to a list which needs a quality young ruckman and a midfielder. I still can't get my head around the argument a win against two rabbles is going to make us a better side.

We didn't lose to them last year.

The players won't leave because we didn't win another game.

If I had a choice I'd take Kreuzer:thumbsu: His main downside for me, is that he supports the wobbles:D

I respect HBF's opinion, but I think that about five kids can lay claim to best mid in the draft.

Kreuzer is by far the best bigman IMO.

You are always talking potential with kids and our young rucks could be great, but they also have huge question marks. I think Kreuzer ticks more boxes. If Hammer kicks on I think that he could work well with Kreuzer as they have different strengths. One of either big Jake or Aisake as the backup.

For mine you need a top ruck duo in the modern game:)

I forgot to add that the option of Kreuzer is unlikely to be one that we will have.

It would take a minor miracle for us to lose to the D's the way things stand at the moment:D We are a real show against the Don's as well.

Kreuzer will not be there at pick three which tells a story in itself:)

No way. It won't save anyone's career, it won't give us any more confidence for next year, it won't boost membership or sponsorship - it's won't mean a damn thing. Tell me how 10 wins in 2002 was better for the club than Walker, Murphy and Gibbs? How was beating Melbourne twice last year such a morale boosting, confidence building event? I'd say picking up Gibbs was way better for the future of the club. Next year we will start the season with a clean slate, a different list and all the hopes and expectations that we start every new season with. A forgettable 2007 season with either 4 or 5 wins is quickly forgotten - but 2 top 4 draft picks will bring much more to the club. Get real people - 4 more wins - great lets do it. But one more win??? please - give me some top end talent anyday.
