Kudos to Hawks, Dees...and the maggots!

As the rain tumbled down outside, I parked myself in front of the telly anticipating an afternoon of fumbly, bumbly, scrappy, crappy football. To my pleasant suprise, both Hawthorn and Melbourne adapted well to the conditions and put on an entertaining and relatively free flowing contest.

Congrats must also go to the three blind mice who finally started pinging players for not attempting to move the ball on in packs. Well done, maggots! Ironically, and unfortunately though, it was a poor umpiring decision that effectively finished the contest when Leoncelli was penalised 50m for what was nothing more than a strong spoiling effort. Oh well...can't have everything I guess.

your lucky to of got the game, I was forced to listen to the wireless coverage as 7 showed the blockbuster from cat park!!!

dermott/quarters were filthy about the leonchelli 50m and their hawk supporters so it just shows how bad some umpiring can be!!

CAN ANYONE JUSTIFY SHOWING A GAME FROM THE DAM AT SHELL PARK INSTEAD OF AN MCG MATCH PLAYED BETWEEN HIGHER PLACED CLUBS?????

Cheers Mr.R for the call on a good hard fought game.

But a little bit of umbarage too. One lousy decision (yea i knew it too) didnt end the contest. Melbourne gave it up a little too (imho) at the end. Even Neale D said that was the most disappointing aspect to their game today.

But (theres always a but) for that one charity we recived i still dont think we did very well from our friends the maggots. Im still fuming about the Lord mark and goal being taken of off the Hawks in the 3rd quarter. That could have been a very nice buffer and with ten or so minutes to go in that Q we could maybe have been a bit further in front at 31/4 time. Also the charities Melbourne got in the 2nd Q to bring them back into the game!!

Schwabby summed it up, look at the frees 'for' for the season so far. The Hawks are last and by a long way. Still were also a game clear and undeafeted so no one can claim were doing it with any help from the Ray Charles impersantion society either!
