Re: Kurt Tippett?

Massive tall forward, recent convert from basketball. So a huge scope for improvement. Nearly 200cm, so looked like a man against boys in the champs, probably not as good as he looked.

Qld lad, very big unit who can play fwd. Very athletic to. I think he will go high as a 'project player' like Williams and Pendlebury did. Heaps of improvement in him and dominated the carnivals albeit against the weaker sides.

You're dreaming.

Will definitely be taken, but definitely not inside the top 20. Too much of a project. Williams and Pendlebury went high in much weaker drafts - there are just too many better prospects this year.

And there's no way in hell Geelong will take him with their first pick either.

And you know this as you are obviously part of the Geelong recruiting team?

All this crap about Geelong won't take him or Melbourne really want him, and I've know X since he was five and he will be a superstar. ruddy hell!!

Seculate all you like, but don't pretend you know anything of consequence.

Re: Kurt Tippett?

This is not a direct comment on Tippet, but just what is a speculative pick anyway?

Is it not in the best interests of some clubs to pick players with the biggest upsides? Surely, when a kid is still learning the caper, it is more about the quality of an individual and what he is capable of rather than whether he performs at the drop of a hat?

Before you label someone a ‘speculative’ draft choice you have got to weigh up just what the kid has shown compared to the choices around him.

Gun. Big, big bloke.

I watched him yesterday. Kicked five on goals and was best on ground for Southport as well as dominating in the ruck.

Has already been signed by a sports management company up here.

A lot of you blokes clearly have not been watching this kid. He will go early for sure. 200cm that has heaps of development in him. I know 4 clubs that are very very keen on him. Will depend on whats gone on around him but he will go early - lets just wait and see.

Somewhere in the middle. This guy has played the game for 12 months. Very strong at the contests and takes pack marks. Also good around the stoppages. Beaut kick to.

I only saw him in the NT v Qld game at the U18s, but he struck me as being very agile. For someone who's 199cm and, I suspect, already up around the 100kg mark, his lateral movement and recovery looked v good. That said, I doubt very much that he'd be in the Franklin or Riewoldt class athletically. But then, you wouldn't expect him to be. He's quite a bit bigger than either of them -- Riewoldt especially. Ottens-type athleticism might be a better comparison.

Re: Kurt Tippett?

No mean to offend but folks live in Gippsland so get to see them a bit and who they play obviously. Also have a hol home near Southport so get to see Sharkies from time to time with the kids. For what its worth, and not that I am grandstanding but you have asked and havent wanted to leave it be but I am also mates with around 4 of the AFL club CEO's/presidents. I tend to hear and see a little whats going on.

Enjoy your evening.

No offence mate, but did you read his last post? He sees some Gippsland games and has a residence on the Gold Coast and apparently sees a bit of Tippett running around for Southport.

Re: Kurt Tippett?

Yes I realise that. In that post he answered it, but in the same post he also told me I didn't want to let it be. However, until that stage he hadn't answered my question.

Let's move on.

That is a good profile. I like Tippett and he will be a good 3rd round pick for someone. I suspect if he is not picked up the Lions will grab him on the Rookie list.
