No mean to offend but folks live in Gippsland so get to see them a bit and who they play obviously. Also have a hol home near Southport so get to see Sharkies from time to time with the kids. For what its worth, and not that I am grandstanding but you have asked and havent wanted to leave it be but I am also mates with around 4 of the AFL club CEO's/presidents. I tend to hear and see a little whats going on.

Enjoy your evening.

Yes I realise that. In that post he answered it, but in the same post he also told me I didn't want to let it be. However, until that stage he hadn't answered my question.

Let's move on.
If you read carefully he actually said that YOU didn't want to leave it be.

But I agree, lets move on and leave it be.

Re: Kurt Tippett?

Had a good game on weekend by all reports, didnt see but watched same two teams 2 weeks ago, funny draw in AFLQ this year

http://aflq.com.au/default.aspx?s=newsdisplay&aid=110722

game included state players petterd, kiel, renouf, eaton, pope, zimmer, duryea, rolfe

so no doubt scouts would have had good oppotunity to watch the state guys

They scored again quickly, before Tippett had the chance to seal the game once and for all after taking yet another vice-like pack mark on the goalline. Incredibly, he missed from five metres out directly in front.
Uh oh?

Re: Kurt Tippett?

he is a project player at best.

very very late pick or rookie list imo.

people pumping up his tyres that he is a top 10 pick or even a top 20 pick are dreaming

Re: Kurt Tippett?

Such a strong marking player! With great kicking ability! Brilliant in the ruck when given a chance. Can only get better remembering he has pretty much just started playing but still dominates. I feel sorry for the 15 sides that can't get a Kurt Tippett in their list.

kurt tippett is a gun, in the last three weeks hes kicked somethin lik 17 goals playin against the other 3 top teams while still spendin time in the ruck.
also for the 20m sprint he got 2.93secs and its only his second year of footy and is extremely athletic. imo id say early 2nd possibly late 1st......
we'll soon find out

Re: Kurt Tippett?

I have seen him 3 times live and as well as at the Champs. He can play!

For those that think he is a project player I think you may have judged this guy harshly.

Every year the draft has a bolter. Last year we had Pendlebury and Thomas who most on this site had at 20-30 plus at this stage of the year. Before that it was guys like Tom Williams, Sean Rusling, Andrew Mackie etc etc.

This kid could very well be the bolter this year. He is a big bloke, very agile, can play ruck and fwd, good palmer of the footy and is a beautiful kick. Only been playing footy for 2 years from memory as well.

If ends up at the Pies in the first (might be a tad bullish) or second round I would be delighted.

You'd be stupid to waste a top ten pick on a project player. You want a player that can nearly come strait into your side. There will be to many doubts on him. Maybe if it was a weaker draft he could maybe be a bolter, but i highly doubt it in this draft.

Your probably right - more likely to go 2nd round but there will be sides like the Pies who will be thinking post Rocca and there wont be many kids 200cm who can play fwd and ruck left to take.

Re: Kurt Tippett?

What is stupid is when people brand a player as a project-player or non-project player. The whole label is next to meaningless. You judge each player on their individual merits. For Collingwood it looks like it is going to pay-off with Pendlebury. Any person who says they were wrong to take the risk should quite rightly be labeled a complete moron. Ditto when it comes to a player like McPharlin.

I don't know a lot about Tippet but I hope he gets judged on his merits and not as some pre-conceived notion.

Sorry for the harsh tone of the above post. It is late and I over-reacted. I will not delete it, however, as I still think it makes some valid points.

Yeah it is still a risk. Where if Pendlebury didn't quite make it, people would look at it and be like it was quite a weak draft and it would have been worth taking a punt because he could have been something. But with such a strong draft i'm not sure if you would want to take such a big punt on a kid that you are just not quite sure about.

Not sure if last years draft was that weak in hindsight.

Murphy, Pendlebury, Thomas, Jones, Swallow (at 40), Kennedy, Clark, Oakley-Nicholls, Hurn have all shown something this year and we really have not seen Ellis or Dowler yet.

I took a lot of crap for indicating clubs will rate him highly this a few weeks ago.....this kid will be a bolter!

Pies took pendlebury last yr and wont be afraid of taking another basketball lad who has only played for a couple of years.

Re: Kurt Tippett?

kurt will go this year n he is a good player. Just needs to learn how not to miss from like 5 metres directly infront. That was a shocking kick he did back at Broady. He will probs go round 2 or 3 of the draft n it better not be to collingwood. Shall be intresting to see him if they make the grand final

Sorry, I may have missed something in the thread. Do you or Tippett have the Collingwood phobia? Could forgive either, but prefer some jumper loyalty from a player.
