Sorry, I may have missed something in the thread. Do you or Tippett have the Collingwood phobia? Could forgive either, but prefer some jumper loyalty from a player.

You don't think one 'punt' is enough?

Personally, I'd wait to see if he's around 2nd round.
He's shown enough to warrant a 1st round pick IMO. Won't slide below 25ish, and therefor won't be there for our second round pick.

From what I saw in the U18 champs, I'd say Tippett is somewhere between Kosi and J-Lo for size, strength, agility and playing style. Tall, not at all gangly, primarily a key forward but a very handy ruck backup too. If Brisbane went for an onballer early (say Selwood) I'd think Tippett would be some chance for their 22 pick.

Footy takes off for Tippett

In recent years the likes of Queenslanders Daniel Merrett and Brad Moran (via England) have made the transition from rival sports to Australian Rules. From there they have become AFL-listed players in a limited space of time. It is a remarkable achievement.

""This is my second season. I'd have to say I've played about 40 games all up - maybe a couple more or a couple less - but I've really enjoyed my first two years and hopefully I can get a chance to go on and play at a higher level, which it'd be great," Tippett said at the NAB AFL Draft Camp in Canberra."

Re: Kurt Tippett?

And funnily enough Adelaide were going to take him with pick 14 because they were super keen on him. However, Sellar slid all the way to 14 and there was a lot of debate on who we would pick. Ended up picking Sellar as the higher fancied local kid and to our amazement Kurt was still there at 32 so we jumped all over him like a cheap suit!

Looks a good player in the making even prior to today.

Amazing how the Tigers love to overlook good big guys, took Shane edwards before Tippett.

A lot of clubs missed out on an exciting big man.

Funny remembering how highly some of the bigs were rated coming into the 2006 draft such as Gumbleton, Hansen, Reid, Riedwvolt, Sellar, Thorpe and the Browns that Tippett has arguably outstretched them all.

Also interesting to note how they're almost doing well in the reverse of their draft order!

A bit unfair since Riewoldt/Brown/Hanson are playing good football, while Gumbleton/Thorp are decent players but just cannot get a break with injuries

Fair enough, what I was trying to say, is that if you were picking a tall to play this week from the 2006 draft, it would probably be Tippett.

- NJB would be very close if not in front
- Tippett has an extra year or so on most of the other candidates

Having said that he's been outstanding. Perhaps overlooked for the same reason as Sellar - ruckman trying to play as a KPP. Was very new to the game. With the depth of talent, it made a lot of sense to go for the more established options.
