We probably are gonna be a bit top heavy in the forward line. But that should work well with our "bomb in in high from the midfield" game plan. Tippett and Reid are two of the best contested marks in the league and Goodes can take a mark or two him self. Yep mighty powerful forward line.

Found that interesting. Apparently Sanderson returns from a holiday in the US today.

Makes sense then why the deal has stretched out for so long. Sanderson would have wanted to eyeball the guy which is past fair as the coach.

Still seeing Faith be so catastrophically wrong and the bogan board go into meltdown when the deal has been done will be worth the 164 pages and counting of mediocrity we have endured so far.

I don't see how we did anything wrong and given the circumstances I'm not even sure we underpaid.

If reports are true, we may have been told he could leave the Crows for a 2nd round pick. Not our fault if that's not true. We also apparently started discussing him before we won the flag - whilst I'm sure we were confident I'm not sure if we knew our first round pick would be that low. Changes the status of players who may have been tradable before after you win a flag also. So we offered what we could and tried to improve it.

In terms of value, the Crows and their supporters have been on a mission to devalue him. Quite simply bizarre that they would do that before a trade. That then seemed to create bad blood with Kurt which meant there was no way he would do them any favours. Saying they were ahead just by getting rid of him and that they wouldn't have him back were laughably bad decisions prior to a trade. Threatening to send him to the PSD. Seriously? Saying they would take nothing for a player who could quite easily say he will only play for us and nominate a salary which meant we were a greater than 50% chance of getting him in the draft? Quite frankly, I can't believe our luck.

This may sound patronising but this will help the Crows. I hope they review what happened here and make sure they don't do this again. If we had lost Richards, Johnson, Reid and someone else that I can't think of a comparison for, in the space of a few years we would be going nuts at our club and finally that seems to be happening with Crows supporters. How would the Crows go next year with Bock, Davis, Gunston & Tippett? Add the first three into a team that missed a GF by a goal and how would they have gone this year?

From Crows fans I have read that he is disruptive, inconsistent, over-rated, one concussion off retirement, a bad kick, and suffers from depression! Officials from the Crows said they are happy to be rid of him, they are already ahead by him being gone, they are prepared to take nothing for him and he is not welcome back! It's not us that turned a player worth 1 top 10 + 1 top 20 pick into a player worth 23+White :)

Not all of that is true mate.
- A few flogs on Bigfooty bagging him doesnt = all adelaide fans turning on him.
- Adelaide only threatened to send him to the PSD after they realised Sydneys offer would be well unders. What did you think they should've done? Say we're happy to take anything?
- Noble's exact words were 'We no longer have someone playing for the Club who doesn't want to be there, so that's already a win'. Which is fair enough and something I think all Clubs would say in that position.
- Not sure you underpaid? Surely you jest?

That 9000 post thread on your board would suggest more than a few but fair enough. Problem is that these things spiral. Few idiots on big footy ... few more ... few letters to papers ... few calls to talkback radio ... Sydney traders sitting around going "I heard Tippetts team mates don't like him" ...

I'm overstating it obviously but it's still stupid. Show anger if you want ... coming up with reasons why he sucked before you trade him is just dumb.

This shows the problem. What you do is try to negotiate up. Your club negotiated down and you are supporting it. This isn't a surplus midfielder on 200k that another club may take a risk on in the PSD. Who is going to spend 1m a season on a star KPF who doesn't want to play for them? Fact is it was a stupid thing to say and you should be letting your board know.

Pretty sure no clubs would say that they are already ahead PRIOR to a trade. Surely you see that? Clubs may think it but I have never seen a club say that about a player that they are looking to get first round picks for.

Given the circumstances we didn't. Well and truly if you guys handled it right. Apparently he is disruptive and will be bad for our culture and is a bloke the Crows are glad yo be rid of ... not sure where i heard that :) Not worth more than 23 + White I wouldn't have thought.

Again its big footy dude. Makes no difference.

You are supposedly offering him only 650kish in the first 2 years. Heaps of clubs could match this for someone like Tippett.

"Nowhere did he say that we were ahead in the trade. Simply that it was a positive because he didn;t want to be there.

You would have to be the only bloke on bigfooty who thought that mate.

If it went to the PSD we could reshuffle contracts around so we could frontload Tippett hence nobody would pay 1m PA for 2years(min contract for psd) for a player that does not wanna be there :)

I think the issue is when you spend the first week hyping up that you're going to get pick three somehow, the reality stings a bit more. I remember when it was taken as a given that Rohan was going to Geelong, Reid was going to Collingwood and those two picks were going to be packaged with 22 for Tippett.

Pick 3 for Tippett.... damn it we should of just traded Kennedy to GWS for all their first round picks.

I think this is a good post when taking a rational look at this. Two comments

Our strategy had to be an ultimate attempt to keep him. Show him lots of public love and that everything coukd br worked out to the extent we would redraft him if we coukd not trade him. Tippett and sydney had to believe this to be a real option.

My other comment re fans. It's true that neither set of fans have covered themselves in glory imo. I think from. Crows perspective this is fuelled by multiple departures of key personnel at below market trades. Of course its correct to say we need to look internally for answers rather than blame the beneficiaries of our incompetence.

LRT to backline I'd imagine.
LRT Defender >>> Forward. Why is it that he is playing forward though? Is he no longer able to play down back in a full time capacity because of injury? Is he up forward for defensive purposes? Is he there just to provide a tall target? I guess we'll find out next year when/if Tippett arrives but I would be more than interested to hear people's thoughts (might need to start a new thread/revisit an old thread...although it would make this one more interesting!!).
