We won the premiership with a side containing 3 first round picks. Surprisingly the teams with many more first round picks in their 22 including Melbourne, Carlton and Adelaide were nowhere to be seen.
pretty much shows that most of the draft are under developed and it requires more than physical stats to determine their success in the AFL.

So what does everyone think tippers nominated salary will
Be??? I no nits only conjecture but id hate to spend 1 million a year
It will be what ever Sydney tell him they are willing to pay. If he gets picked up by someone else then fine. We offered what we thought was reasonable and affordable. If we miss out then that's fine. His contract will be a burden on another club.

Thanks for your considered opinion. I will now cry myself to sleep over the shambles that is our list management.

The truth, of course, is that we still have in tact the 22 who just a month ago won the premiership, plus McGlynn, Rohan, Mitchell, Lamb and a handful of other youngsters more than capable of playing senior football in the future. We also have a back-up ruckman, the reiging NEAFL Eastern Conference ruckman of the year, who I'd take every day of the week (and again on Saturdays and Sundays) over Angus Graham. We also have salary cap space by the bucketload, either for Tippett or for someone else next year.

Have we missed an opportunity to strengthen our list over trade period? Possibly, but there were only a small handful of players who moved clubs who might have really added to our squad. The most attractive of those, by far, in Goddard, probably had his agreement with Essendon wrapped up months ago and would never have been an option for the Swans.

I'd much prefer our list management "shambles" to the Crows' current list management "shambles".
Ha, ha. This is the most professional post I have ever read. Whoever wrote this should send it to the club. It is a masterpiece.

Couldnt be happier with senior management at the moment. As a crowd fan, we need to put it into perspective. Just got to look at all the positives triggy has achieved that only he could. When weighed up against this rather minor blip on the radar. Nothing to see here at all, just a bit of good governance/management gone ever so slightly awry.
You happy with senior management pushing Rendell out of the Crows?

This "minor blip" could cost the Crows a lot of money and draft picks. As long as you are happy though.....

I wonder what Sam Reid thinks of the possibility of playing with tippett. I can see him kicking 50 plus this year. His kicking looked a lot better towards the end of last year ad if he can get his confidence up I think a 50 plus goal season is well in his grasp this year and push for an all Australian berth

Its very hard to piece together the sequence of events. I do however believe that if we were all honest and analysing what we do know objectively, then no one comes out of this smelling of roses. As I have posted here before, what upsets me the most is the treatment of the players, of which we were culpable in getting Jesse over to Adelaide and possibly leading him to believe he would join our club. The media and social media frenzy which followed, all directed at an innocent player was nothing short of disgraceful.
Sorry Peter, you make some good points but after all that has happened it's very frustrating that Crows fans are still running around trying to make everyone else look bad.

We tried to trade for a player. That is all we did. Didn't offer enough? Who gives a toss. That happens multiple times every draft period. If a club doesn't offer enough the other club rejects it - and their fans don't whine about it for a month. Oh, but your club couldn't reject it? That is their doing, not ours. We come out of it smelling the same way we did when we went in.

Now you are hanging your hat on us forcing you to take White. WTF? Is that the same as Crows fans saying they were forced to accept a dodgy deal by Kurt's dad? If it's true, then the deal was 23 + White. Take it or leave it. Just don't whine about it afterwords as though we did something wrong. Again, you got screwed due to your own clubs mismanagement - nothing to do with us.

We don't have to offer what you guys think is "fair". Who cares if he is valued at 2 low first round picks? Given that valuation and the fact that you guys completely messed this trade up, we think what we offered was more than fair. If you don't, fine, reject the offer. Oh wait ...

In regards to the deal not being accepted by the AFL, from what I have read it seems like they would look into pretty much anything because it was obvious your club had done something wrong. Didn't they investigate a year ago and said there was no "agreement"? So that means that everyone involved in this lied to them. Then, it is reported at the start of this period that either your CEO or Chairman said that he had instructed your guys to ignore any agreement because Kurt wasn't going home. So, would the AFL have rejected the deal because it was unders or because it was obvious you had done something dodgy and they wanted to look into it?

If it comes out that we did something wrong then we'll accept it but the accusations being levelled at us by Crows fans show no wrongdoing whatsoever.

Still think he is a year or two out from that (Is still only 20 years old)

Think he will kick between 35-40 goals next year.

I have to admit, he has all the attributes of Franklin (including kicking for goal) and is an even better contested mark. Yep, he sprays them but that goal from outside 50 in the last...awesome!

Don't think we'll see the best of Sammy til he's past 24 and starts to fill out properly. CHF is a tough gig to develop into, and Tippett up there can only help if we can manage to got him

All the kid needs s confidence and he could be the best marking forward in the league. In 2011 when he started showing his potential he was flying for everything and takin a lot of good marks. He had no pressure on him because he was a bit of an unknown. This year it seemed he was flying into less contests because his confidence was low because he was being targete a lot more. Towards the end of this year I think he realised he doesn't need to mark everything he goes for. It's just as important to continue leading and creating contests for guys like mglynn , Kennedy , jack etc to get to his feet. I think he is still adjusting to his increased body size ( he is a lot bigger than when he came into afl) . Plus I expect him to fly for everything next year and will take more
Big grabs because of this and kick more goals. He just needs to compete for everything an this guy could really be the break out player this year. He kicked 30 odd goals this year and he went missing for a lot of games. He could easily kick 50 plus this year .... Oh an he's only turning 21... We are yet to see what this kid is capable of

Surely if a club was going to draft a player for $1m a season or whatever, they'd talk to him first and make sure that he would be a good fit. If GWS rang Tippett or his manager, were told that Kurt really doesn't want to play for them, they wouldn't spend the money? It seems crazy to me to recruit anyone for a job they don't want. I know the AFL system allows this for the draft, but it seems crazy for a mature player to be at the mercy of such a system.

Just imagine for a job, any job, you could force a person to relocate to a place they don't want to live, and work for a company they don't want to work for. Do you really think you'll get an employee who's going to give their best?

It seems like a pretty big risk for GWS, and seems pretty cruel to make a guy who's quit one club because he was unhappy to then go to another club where he'll be unhappy. Doesn't show a great respect for player welafare, really.

Like i say, i know the AFL allows (requires) this and Kurt either agrees to abide by the system or finds another career, but it seems a pretty poor outcome for the guy.
If that happened to me at the apparent end of my career (he'd be about 30 if gws kept him on thst long) I'd pocket the mill "drop" a lot of marks and "miss" a lot of kicks, give mono syllabic interviews where I would talk about non club sanctioned topics and generally just be a bastard about it.

Meanwhile I'd invest the cash and work on my surfing.

Sorry I forgot. There is that theory going on the crows board that we already had his signature by that stage and he was playing dead.

I must keep reminding myself that it is our and tippets fault the crows are being investigated for salary cap breaches.

Tippett lost you the semi against us.

It is his managers fault that draft tampering allegations have been brought against you.

I'll try not to make that mistake again.
