I just did, what a waste of space, what a bunch of trolls with nothing to look forward to.
Now its changed to a player V player thread, maybe it should be shut down and start another one for Tex V Reid

Perhaps you should re read the post. My statement that neither club came of smelling if roses related to the whole process.

If you want to go over ground that's been covered ad nauseam fine. My personal opinion of tippett is entirely irrelevant. I think he and his role are overrated. You won a flag with Pyke and we can cover him with jenkins or mckernan. That's how i see it.

But here's the thing....neither your club or my club share that opinion. Your club is happy to make him one of the highest paid in the afl. They see him as very valuable. Independent recruiters valued him as 1 x early or 2x later first round picks.

That said, what is becoming clear, is that we would have taken 23 alone. What you cant seem to get your head around is that white did not add value to the package. It detracted. He is on an inflated salary which you wanted to off load. We did not need him from a list viewpoint, and we certainly did not need his salary.

So he was clearly worth more than 23 + a fine.

Just remember my post was a positive discussion about reid. You chose to turn it into a tired, circular debate that will never find resolution.
Serious question – Hypothetical.
If there had been no “go home clause” and Kurt had stayed with his original plan that it was the Swans or the PSD. Then it would have left Adelaide with a choice, accept Sydney’s offer or send him to the PSD. Now if as you say 23 was not enough then what would the number have been at 1.55pm on the last day of trade.
What do you think the minimum trade that the crows would have accepted? And I don’t mean what did you want, we all know that was 3 or 2 x 1st rounders. And don’t include players because we have gone over that.
I personally don’t think 23 would have stopped him from going to the draft, but I don’t think something like 15 or 16 would have been discarded by you.

SEN (Russell Barwick) just reported that a story will break later today that Folau wants back to League. Just a smoking gun at this stage. If that is the case then Tippett may have a place.

First thing i thought of when i heard Folau was heading back to NRL (reportedly). I wouldn't put it past that wiley old fox Sheedy to draft Tippett.

It's a good question but hard to answer. Without the agreement we wouid have been better placed to work with other clubs.

But as you say hypothetical.....somewhere between 10-15 given he was uncontracted. So yeah I think your around the mark. Of course we all would have bitched and moaned. But the club could have sold it i think.

If Folau really goes back to NRL you'd have to think that Sheedy is serious about taking Tippett. Hopefully Tippett nominates a huge figure and Sheedy takes him. Then Sheedy wins, he leaves GWS, then we raid all GWS's young talent, and we win. Only loser is GWS. Fine by us (and apparently Sheedy).

Thanks,
It is something that your club would have discussed and I would love to know what the number was. I personally don't think the gap was insurmountable.

IM reading that as Tippett is as good as a giant. Surely gws would not be letting go of folou if they hadnt spoken to Kurt and he has said he is willing to play for them. So they let folou go , create space to accommodate Kurt. I think tippet will just have bitten the bullet and accepted gws. Would not wanna cause more of a stir by saying he is not willing to go to gws and only syd.. Tippett at Sydney is officially over in my eyes

I would think they make a decision on Folou in isolation. If he doesn’t want to play afl then you let him go. Tippett then is another decision. If a player doesn’t want to be somewhere then not much point in getting him. If they lose Folou and miss out on Tippett then they will just have to use one of their picks 1,2 or 3 to find another tall.
I would imagine they could find one in the draft without much fuss.

I still believe he could have forged a career if he was in a better environment. Learning to play as a key position forward is a tough gig. We give draftees a good 4 - 5 years to develop and they've been playing the game their whole lives

If he doesn't wan tto continue it's tough to sell the idea

It makes it hard to succeed and learn a new game and be motivated to do it when he just gets ridiculed for doing it when he could just play rugby and be a star

Id say its almost certain that Tippett will end up at GWS now. If I were you blokes Id be pretty happy about it. In my opinion, if this is what happens, you have dodged a bullet. Had the potential to be a massive distraction and destabilizing influence on your club.
