there is absolutely no way the Giants cant afford him now. their list is full of 19 y.o's. how many of them would be on contracts upwards of $250k? not many i would suggest. he will only end up at the swans if he comes out from the rock he has been living under the last month and declares once again that Sydney is his only destination and is not interested in being a giant. otherwise, game over for the swans.
The cap squeeze is because if they sign him for arguments sake 4 million for 4 years it puts serious restrictions on what they can offer their younger players when there contract is up. Most of their players will have to renew their contracts at the end of next year. So the giants have a risk of payin too much for Tippett and not being able to keep young guns like Patton , Cameron , bugg, coniglio and Greene etc.. They probably have more of a salary cap consideration than Sydney . But info agree with u and think hel be a giant next year

Losing Falou would have little impact on their cap I would imagine. I think they could always afford him.

I just think taking a player who doesn't want to be there, paying him $1m per year, dealing with his current baggage, and knowing that if he does want to leave after a year they will be in a bad situation, can only end badly. Clubs will not be knocking down their door to sign him because of what happened this year ... and because he will nominate us again. Sure, they will be in a better situation than the Crows ... but not a good situation. What's the upside? They lose by 8 goals to us instead of 10 next season?

Anyway, Sheeds is almost as crazy as Vossy and I have zero respect for SOS's intelligence so who knows what might happen.

Glad Folou has left the AFL and that GWS are going to make a play for Tippett. Hope he ends up there. Would rather see us play Cunningham than Tippett.

If Tippett ends up at GWS he'll rot playing for a shit side. By the time they're any good he'll be buggered.

Either way I don't care. I think I'd rather see the club keep the money and put it toward holding onto our stars of the future, like Cunningham.
Sounds like you rate Cunningham :thumbsu:

The AFL are about to smash Melbourne for manipulating the system. Then they will move on to the Crows and do the same. Finally they will look at Tippett and his management and whack them.

And you are suggesting the AFL will go and manipulate the system themselves. No one there is that stupid. It wont happen, wishful thinking.
The fixture is a manipulation. You can't be serious that AFL house doesn't manipulate, they are the only ones allowed to. They manipulate the rules every year. They just can't leave stuff alone. Always manipulating something.

We all need to wait for the AFL findings. If they block his way to the swans then it is end of game. No need to worry about him sliding.

I just dont see GWS taking a player if he sits there and looks at sheeds and says " thanks for the tour of the facilities, but I do not want to play for you or with these guys". Imagine the coaching staff and players involved, they are not going to want him in the place. The risk is too great and I think that it wont be Sheeds who makes the decision it will be SOS and Cameron. Brisbane must be doing there sums.
I think if you still really want him, couldnt you just say play out the year with GWS and we'll trade for you in 2013? Heat dies down. He will prob miss 6-10 games anyway next year.

Of course you would have to be willing to trade ;)

I just want Tippett to come out and say something , whether he wants swans or happy to play for whoever picks him. Just to put and to all this rubbish
Can he actually come out and say anything without incurring the wrath of the AFL. It's probably better he keps a low profile and it's in keeping with what he wants, and also the way our club operates. The less we hear from Tippett and the Swans on the matter, the more likely we are to get him

Am I the only one weirded out by the fact that the Adelaide posters who've been on here the most during this whole saga are the ones who are having the biggest freak outs about how much they hate this board and the Swans generally away from here?

Yes I am serious. The idea that the afl will manipulate the system to send Tippett to GWS is pure fantasy. It belongs over on the crows board where that type of thinking is encouraged.

He could very well end up at GWS but it will not be by the afl manipulating the system. It will be because of the system itself

I wonder how long GWS have had the "Izzy ain't playin for us next year" fire cracker in the jump suit? Surely Sheeds would have known when he came out the other day declaring his heartfelt passion for Tippett... Surely? A couple of my Crows suporting colleagues have been banging on for weeks indicating Tippett merely said "sydney" not "sydney swans", they may be right. He may be a Giant next year or a Swan. I doubt anyone else would even bother. And under either senario I'm not overly concerned about... Look at our young up and coming talent and take note: They are all better than Tippett based on the potential they have shown. Cunnigham was mentioned a couple of posts ago and I would hate to see his development stagnate or feel like he doesn't have the oportunities possible elswhere due to a Tippett investment. He comes and hopefully relieves Reidy, helps Cunningham and co through their development and can give the warriors (Goodesy, Jude, LRT) a rest every now and then well that's great. If not, we still have the greatest damn club in the comp and the best players playing their guts out for us every week. That's enough for me.

No you should be weirded out .shotties. It's like how Jason Gram hates his ex yet wont leave her alone either. It's the same thing going on in their heads.

With Tippett almost certainly going to GWS, time to focus on next year. There is absolutely no excuse for the Swans failing to land a major free agent next season, as the salary cap space earmarked for Tippett has not gone on any other imports. Arguments that it will go on new contracts for current players are irrelevant as they still would have needed re-signing if Tippett had joined the club.

Thats right, if i hear that then i will wonder why we chased Tippett.

We must be going after a delisted free agent surely? To get a full list?
