Even still those with least skin in game should have least lingering feeling, right?

I'm just saying there is nothing unusual here
Not unusual for some. It is in their makeup, looking to others. They have burnt their own house down, and hope for the block to burn in turn.

I read that and think that maybe we're in with a shot of getting Tippett after all. If GWS have to ask for FURTHER cap allowances to get him, then they probably can't afford him.
We will get him, GWS trolling the press for attention. How are they going to keep 25 first round draft picks on their list and pay KT a mil a year? Some people seem to think he fits the role as a West Sydney ambassador, personally, I can't see it, nor can I see the AFL bending the rules that far to allow it

LOL at the "ambassador" comment in that article, even The Age is trolling us now!

To be honest I kind of feel for Kurt, I think he was genuine in wanting to play for us because of the strength of our culture, it could have helped to get the best out of him. To be fair to the AFL though I can understand why they might not want the reigning premiers to get him for nothing in the draft, it would be politically more desirable for him to strengthen one of the weaker clubs, for the purposes of ensuring balance in the competition. I still have hope that he will somehow fall our way though, but won't complain if GWS get him.

Good post. Summed up my feelings pretty well. But I guess I will be a little disappointed if we don't get him. Like every fan I want my team to be the best it can be and he will fill our biggest weakness. So I'd love to see him in red and white.

Just watch the premiership that should cheer you right up :p

Look if we get him thats all well and good... but if we don't we have still kept our list intact and we have to find a way to fit in players such as McGlynn and Rohan when they come back from injury :D

In the longer term, when Goodesy/LRT/Jude etc are gone, I see Tippett being more important. However, from the same point of view an argument could be made that he could just clog up not just the cap but also the list a little not allowing us to develop and retain some of our younger stars. In the short term however he could help take the focus away from Reidy & our developing fowards while supporting the Goodesy/LRT/Jude workload. Will be very interesting to see how we go with or without him and how he goes with or without us as well as how he goes without Adelaide suffocating him.... ;):thumbsu:

With gws and Brisbane entering the Tippett sweepstakes. What is everyone's thoughts on the possibility of using scare tactics on Tippett and the swans to drive tippetts price up and make him select a higher salary to clog up the swans cap????

My understanding is that we have signed a conditional contract with Tippett. So the amount we will pay him has already been decided. It would just be a matter of if it was backended or not. I cant see us changing or wanting to change the total payment. It will just come down to the other clubs deciding on wether they will take a chance.

We agreed to terms pending a trade, we could offer him anything now if able to draft him

No sure. Was it conditional on us trading for him or would the agreement stand until the end of the PSD. No one has come out and said so until that was clarified we would be guessing

Just heard Sheedy on SEN, it's safe to say they need the AFL to approve GWS paying him outside the salary cap (marketing allowance) in order to afford him, when asked whether they would pick him even if he didn't want to play for them he said he doesn't know.

24 hours after the Izzy decision and I've now got some confidence that we'll still get him.

we are just guessing though, maybe he will be de registered even?

we need the investigation to finish and then i imagine we might hear more from Tippett or at least his manager, such as I will go wherever I am drafter or I have no interest in GWS etc
