KT hasn't even spoke to them...all GWS are doing to very publically saying come and take a look at us...But as John Ralph mentioned yesterday..KT wants to be a swan and nothing else...so let them and if they pick him with him not wanting to be there then good luck to them....as his heart wont be in it
And you believe John Ralph

If they get him, they will have taken the first step towards having a genuine rivalry with us. Bring it on!
And pay back is going to be a bitch and painful for GWS, they are better off not taking Tippett now, ensure we use salary cap money, if they don't when Patton and Cameron for example do come out of contract we will have plenty of dollars to throw their way, one way or another it will squeeze their list....squeeze it enough for Sheedys game playing eyes to pop!

whats nt to believe, all he has to do is ring the agent or KT and say what do you think about GWS wanting you etc etc..
and they reply he just wants to be a swan..
not like its a big scoop of a story...
Andrew Ireland has also come and said they ahve been in constant contact with KT...
I mean Luke Ball refused to speak to Melbourne at the time...so he only has to do what Ball did and let them take the risk if they want to roll the dice

GWS don't need to speak to him, they don't need his permission.

What he wants isn't such a big deal anymore
I hope you are correct and GWS take him, but your idea that what he wants is no big deal shows a complete lack of understanding of how a footy club runs.

If GWS take Tippett they need him to not only be a footballer but also a mentor to the younger players and a mouthpiece for the club both in the media and with sponsors. He must buy into what they are doing and trying to achieve. Whilst clubs write it into contracts what a player has to do, GWS may not be in a position in this instance. Tippett is in a position to nominate his contract terms, hence why Sheeds is doing a sell job. I know you are all convinced over on the crows board that GWS are committed, but yet Sheedy is still selling, why? Because he knows unless he can get Tippett to consider GWS he will be taking the biggest of risks. If you are going to just ignor his wishes as you have suggested then why get Davis to SMS him or make all these quotes in the paper, no need. The reason is because they need (not want) him to agree.

If Tippett turns up and just plays footy it will be a monumental disaster for GWS. Imagine the highest paid player (or close to it) turning up for training, matches and official functions only. Now that is how to build a culture and a great example to all the young first round draft picks.

The Suns and Lions on the other hand would be in a position where they know he would be happy to live there and may take the risk that they can talk him around. GWS do not have that luxury. Tippett is not a rookie being drafted who will go anywhere to get a game. He is a 100 gamer who is leaving a city because he dose not want to be there. Now that is a 4 million gamble that they may make. But I think unlikely unless they can be convinced that he will be happy to be there.

Only if they're ignorant and want a risk of a player retiring from a club.
He's not retiring. Plus he'll opt for PSD to increase his chances of getting to sydney. Thereby costing GWS nothing.

He's tied to gws for 2 yrs in that scenario if he wants to waste years of his prime

Hint: he doesn't :)

It'll cost plenty, he will put a price on his head that will need to be bench marked for all the young "guns" they have, once they come out of contract they will expect/demand to be paid at that bench mark price, in turn it'll place undue pressure to retain,
Think for just a minute a Cameron/Patton ect really fulfill their potential in next year or two....
Future impact on GWS and that's the balancing act that looms in not to distant future...oh and If we miss Tippett guess who's got money to spend??

He is tied to GWS for how ever many years he nominates, (minimum of 2) most likely 4 because that is the contract that he has been offered by the swans. Do GWS want to take the risk of a player who dosnt wnat to be there for 4 years.

Hint: Sheedy is still trying to sell it.

I think I read somewhere that GWS are meeting with Tippett face to face in the next few days. Also, word is they are trying to re work their "marketing cap" that they were spending on Falou to pay Tippett's contract. Not sure how much can be taken from this (as it would be incredibly hypocritical considering a similar thing is why the Crows are in such a mess), but wouldn't surprise me given the AFL's history. If this is the case, it would cost them very little as it is outside their cap.

In any event, maybe they are banking on having him for 2 years before he is out of contract again and then getting a draft pick for trading him. They'd have the money to spend now, and in 2 years when all GWS' stars are coming out of contract, offloading Tippett would then give them more money to play with. Not the worse idea...

He will nominate for the PSD and he will put a 4 year contract on his head, because that is what the swans have offered and he has agreed to. So GWS will have to take him for 4 years. That is where the risk is. The greatest chance that GWS have of securing Tippett is to offer him more than Sydney have. We all believe that he likes the money, other than that it will be the biggest gamble that any club has taken in my memory.

And no club would sign a player to a 4 year deal with the intention of trading him in 2 years. What happens if he performs poorly and he is only seen as being worth 500k for those last 2 years, GWS would need to pay the difference in any trade which would cost them 2 young guns. Or he satys on the books and cost them 2 stars. Wont happen.

They will only take him if they can convince him that Blacktown is a wonderful place. Good luck with that.

GWS would be some kind of stupid to pick up a player that doesn't want to play for them.
He said Sydney is his preferred destination but that doesn't mean he can't be convinced to play for GWS. Same city, same $$$ most likely and a team with a strong future. I'm sure he can be convinced.

I don't really care what happens now either. If we get him, you beauty and I believe he will make us a better side but if he goes to GWS, as long as we make some smart decisions in the ND and PSD, I think we can still improve over this off-season to the point where we can be a strong chance of going back to back (mainly by replacing the depth we have lost and bolstering places where we have had no depth for the last 12 months).

Honestly, don't even care where he goes. I'm saying this as a reminder to some future Adelaide fans who want to come here and give us shit for not getting him if he goes to GWS.

I ain't even mad.
I think they call that perspective, brilliant, that's what it's all about, great reminder....we just won the flag...
We got to go b2b for Ben & Rohan now...

Did Kurt actually say he could be convinced otherwise? Has he made any comment since the trading period has ended? It would be good if he could just come out and categorically say I have no interest whatsoever playing for the Giants, that would really help the Swans in their chase.

No way he would come out and say something like that with the pending investigations.. thing that is surprising me is how vocal/chest pumping GWS are being with their statements when they really dont have to they hold all the picks.

The whole Patton/Davis/Cameron texting him wanting to play beside him is a bit much i feel almost like they are pleading for him to go to GWS hmm..

If they actually want him they have handled it incredibly badly. Good for us though, them ensuring that they start to have a salary cap squeeze just as they hit their window - not in the middle as with most other clubs.

Is that true? Hadn't heard that. Nothing wrong with it but it's not really the culture you want. He wants to play with us, they are begging him to play with them. You want players to come to your footy club because they buy into what you are trying to achieve.

They have no right celebrating... they still lost an important cog in their effort to for a flag for nothing.... We have a proven premiership team and kept it together.
