GWS don't need to speak to him, they don't need his permission.
What he wants isn't such a big deal anymore
I hope you are correct and GWS take him, but your idea that what he wants is no big deal shows a complete lack of understanding of how a footy club runs.
If GWS take Tippett they need him to not only be a footballer but also a mentor to the younger players and a mouthpiece for the club both in the media and with sponsors. He must buy into what they are doing and trying to achieve. Whilst clubs write it into contracts what a player has to do, GWS may not be in a position in this instance. Tippett is in a position to nominate his contract terms, hence why Sheeds is doing a sell job. I know you are all convinced over on the crows board that GWS are committed, but yet Sheedy is still selling, why? Because he knows unless he can get Tippett to consider GWS he will be taking the biggest of risks. If you are going to just ignor his wishes as you have suggested then why get Davis to SMS him or make all these quotes in the paper, no need. The reason is because they need (not want) him to agree.
If Tippett turns up and just plays footy it will be a monumental disaster for GWS. Imagine the highest paid player (or close to it) turning up for training, matches and official functions only. Now that is how to build a culture and a great example to all the young first round draft picks.
The Suns and Lions on the other hand would be in a position where they know he would be happy to live there and may take the risk that they can talk him around. GWS do not have that luxury. Tippett is not a rookie being drafted who will go anywhere to get a game. He is a 100 gamer who is leaving a city because he dose not want to be there. Now that is a 4 million gamble that they may make. But I think unlikely unless they can be convinced that he will be happy to be there.
