Beacuse Goodes, Bolton, Shaw etc will all be retiring.

Yes Adelaide would also rather him go to the PSD then give a rival contender a gun for nothing.
And why wouldn't he get through to the swans in the PSD.

How many players don't get to where they want. The last one I can remember is jade Rawlings.

I'd say just remember that Adelaide ripped us off last year on the Johnston / Armstrong trade
Adelaide are going to hold out for overs, so if it goes to PSD will not be our fault.
We've made a reasonable offer.
Armstrong has played more games this year than Johnston. Hardly ripped off.

Adelaide can expect whatever they like, the fact is they are not going to get Market rate for him.
He is uncontracted, and has already left the Crows, however you and a lot of crows supporters still seem to think you'll get evens/overs for him.

If Adelaide are going to hold out for overs we will simply walk away, take our chances on PSD, and if we miss him, then nothing lost.
Nothing lost for us either, in the grand scheme of things pick 22 in the draft is inconsequential for the club.

I dont blame Sydney as such, but I am beginning to think that Tippett services were offerred by Blucher to Sydney under the premise that they would be able to secure him for next to nothing by assuring the Swans that Adelaide were going to be sending Tippett to Sydney via a peppercorn agreement.

The longer this goes on i feel we have been sold a lemon by his manager.
John I honestly think your on the money. The back flip yesterday was really indicative of a misunderstanding. Unless blucher advised him to try it on ...see how far they could get.

Either way it didn't come off well.

You'd be lucky to get a pick in the 30's for White. High 40's is more like it. And 22 + 30 something will not get the job done I guarantee it. Assume it was Reid (who at this stage is not as good or valuable as Tippett) wanted to be traded. Would you be happy with 22 and 30 something?
Do you understand the concept of trading a player. White is equivelant to Pick 40-something in trade value, but he is better than Pick 30-something in playing value, as he is a ready made KPF who is proven to be at least competitive at Senior Level. You have no such guarantee plunging into the draft.

Unfortunately clubs don't use that logic. I agree with the OP that White would only attract a pick in the high 40s. Any lower than that and you're kidding yourself.

That might be true to say a Melbourne or the dogs. But we have a long list of KPF's ahead of White so it would be useless us taking him.

Ireland sounded like he was conflicted giving by his statement of a few hrs apart it went from "no Premiership players to be traded" to hopefully "no Premiership players will be traded".

We could be struggling to find a suitable trade if all along we believed the "handshake Agreement"

No player lost but your reputation as solid trader and negotiator will be in tatters. If this trade falls through, Sydney will have egg on its face as it will be obvious that your club did not perform any due diligence prior to the announcement and took Blucher on his word regarding Tippets contract.

I hope we can negotiate a win/win for both clubs, but I would rather Tippet have the indignity of going to the PSD than Adelaide accept pick 22 and a spud. He did not have the courage to be honest with his teammates and club, so why should we assist him with moving to a premiership rival? Adelaide would be better served if he ends up in GC or GWS.

This would be true if it unfolded that way it would very embarrassing/amateurish stuff from our club not to explore such a clause to its fullest.

It would be worse for Blucher his reputation will be in tatters if it isn't so already, the the flaw from your post is he could very easily end up at Carlton and Freo who are very much in the mix next year so you strengthen one of those teams and you end up with nothing

Reading all the comments on the Adelaide board they're making out that Tippett himself is a spud, a horrible kick for goal, inconsistent blah blah. Yet they keep moaning about the trade negotiations and how Adelaide should get some awesome players and draft picks in return.

Yes I agree, Blucher will end up worse off, Sydney will bounce back. Blucher may find he is no longer wanted as a player manager.

The other alternative to the PSD is that if other clubs feel the trade to Sydney is unravelling, they may step in with a more suitable offer to Adelaide. Brisbane is very keen, what’s to stop them coming to the table with pick 8 and a “homesick” Adelaide boy? I’m sure Tippet could find some family and friends in Brisbane to justify the move further north…

Have you watched any SANFL this season?
So you make a stupid statement about the comparative value of the two players then ask us to back up your statement with evidence for you?

You're a genius.
Its an opinion mate. Everyones got one. I thought Johnston was quite immpressive this year. As did many fellow crows supporters.

Why would he play with an injured shoulder?
And we'll have to agree to disagree. When Reid starts dominating important games then I'll listen
Ok then mate. Will be talking to you next year (hope you listen up good) when Tippett is taking a defender or two off of him and he no longer has to somehow overcome 3 guys hanging all off him every contest. this is after this years efforts after playing most of the year with a shoulder niggle and still managing basically the same output as Tippett even given he is approx. 5 years younger...... The real value of Reid is clear to see. Particularly compared to Tippett IMO.
