Hey, I'd take it BUT given how good you've been during the seasons ONLY TWO (!) premierships is a little disappointing* imo.

*again, I'd love to be that disappointed

Blooding 8 first gamers is not normally conducive to winning a p'ship in that season.
We've done extremely well to finish on top but that inexperience has ultimately been our undoing.
The evenness of the bottom 6 players is what gets teams over the line in grand finals.

We were actually on a hiding to nothing, which is what I told all my close friends & family would happen on GF day.

Agree, I thought your kids really got shown up against GWS as they lacked size and got knocked around a bit. Another one or two preseasons should fix that.

I really like Naismith. Had a great 1st quarter in the GF. I bet they wish they'd seen more of him before they signed Sinclair. Might have put him out of a job.
I agree with you about Tippett and Mitchell. You guys can cover what Mitchell offers, better than any team in the league could. Tippett is still one of the best fwd/ruck's in the game. Had a very interrupted season and yet was still ok. Admittedly you are paying him to be better than ok, but with a clean run of health, he'll be much better. In some ways I think his biggest problem is expectation. If you are expecting him to be Simon Madden or Tony Lockett you'll be disappointed, but he was never going to be them. He's still very valuable IMO

Yep and people are quickly forgetting how good Tippett was prior to his injury. It was always realistically going to take 2 months longer to recover than he was brought back. Had we not been contending there is no way Tippett would have played again this year.

Sinclair as back up is not to bad especially considering a fit S. Reid could do the pinch hitting with a Naismith/Nankervis and no doubt with Derx getting delisted we would draft another ruckman.

Might as well play Towers as a ruckman if you are playing Sinclair. Has Sinclair marked a ball in 2016?

Has there been any official comment on Tippett from Sydney, or his manager, or anyone who knows anything?

Or is it just talk on SEN? Someone assumed the Swans would be desperate to retain Mitchell, so they speculated that maybe another player might be traded to save salary cap room, then they scanned through the Swans list and picked out the name... Kurt Tippett!

As some Swans fans have already said, players like Tippett are hard to find and Sydney have several like Mitchell. If in fact Mitchell is even on the market which is still only assumed, not confirmed.

Trading Tippett may be a real option for them, but until I hear something official I am calling BS on the whole speculative idea.

Would any club pay his contract though? It's a hefty amount and a long time left on his contract. Swans would want something good for him as well.

Any idea that involves having Sinclair as a backup makes me want to throw up! No thanks. Rather back Tippo to get back to where he was in the first half this year. Ideally I'd be retiring McVeigh before trading either of them. That might be harsh, but jeez he was slow this year.

Reckon both Sydney and West Coast might like to go back 12 months. Jetta has been a bust for us so far and now we're possibly in the market for ruck cover. Meanwhile it seems Sinclair has been passed by in Sydney by Naismith.

We have played 5 GFs in the last 11 years for 2 p'ships!
We have just blooded 8 new players to go forward.

Screwed?

Now tell how you think your club has been going of late?
Cheap academy picks make up for crap picks for being in the finals
Finding the extra money to pay for those 8 is where you will be screwed though.
When other clubs come knocking

You do know Buddy is not getting the 10 million in one season?

Tippett was near AA in the first half of the year, then got injured. If you think he's an underperformer, you're not paying attention.
So performing for half a season, and not the important half, on his massive deal is good enough? Take the first half of the season out and he has arguably been the flop of the decade.
