A news report a couple of days ago stated that McGregor and Perrie were both fit and ready for inclusion into next Friday nights game.

Now Mcgregor has had a set back with his injury again and yes I reckon young Tippet will get a jumper in round 1.

IMO Essendon will bring a running side with speedy youngsters to battle Adelaide ....going in with 3 talls IMO will be most detrimental ....as much as I want to see Tippett come on I think he'll miss the first round

If it is a dry day or night whenever the game is i would still go for the talls, who cares if they have speedy guys, an extra tall in the forward line will be good. They are only ****ing Essendon anywhere, let that rabble club try and work out what matchups they need to combat us at footy park. As long as we have a decent crumber or two sitting under the collective noses of our big units up front we will smash them.

That's OK if your tall strategy is made up of experienced talls ...ours however are predominately first gamers (Hudson excempt) ....that to me is a recipe for disaster to a side that would run from defence .....and where we would be expecting the talls to put some defensive pressure on.

Will be amazed if that occurs wet or dry

Yep, I think you're right here WW. :thumbsu:

I think he will start on the pine if a dry day and they will play it by ear how things are going.

Craig has done this before and not used a younger type player until the last quarter.

Sometimes you have no other option either.

Your absolutely correct for the NAB cup ....but i was referring to the first round and sitting him on the pine till the last qtr would be effectively going in a man short ;)

I had a quiet chuckle on 10 news tonight when Neil Craig put Corey Wingard back in his box as Corey nominated Tippett as the possible solution to the ruck crisis. Craig turned and looked at him and said that 'you have to remember Tippett's played 30 games of football. That's not 30 games of SANFL footy, that's 30 games in his life.' Then looked on for a couple more seconds while it sunk in. I guess it was the Craig equivalent of saying, what are you thinking Corey you idiot.

Yep, at present, we dont have ruck 'solutions'. We have people who can step up and battle manfully.

And for those that are writing off Essendon, please dont make sweeping statements like 'we will smash them', or they are a 'rabble club'. It sets us up to look stupid. Plenty of time to round 1, Lloyd and Michael will strengthen their spine... I think they look ok and could be a surprise packet in 2007.

Looked pretty good today for West.

Question is, I think the majority of fans here see Tippett as a future forwardline option.

Looks like he'll be spending a fair portion of his time in the ruck at West Adelaide. Is this what we want?

Or do we want him to be developed him as a key forward?

At the moment? Ruck. We need a back up if the Griff goes down.

Long term? Probably forward line.

Another question for the long term option is, do we waste his mobility by playing him as a deep forward?

Has he done anything with the Bloods? The Weed's been playing him in the ruck hasn't he?

I'd like to see him up forward but if that's not possible .....

Perhaps get him in the ruck and the Griff up forward?

Griff could use some SANFL time. He's had his run and it's time to get someone else in there (but there hasn't been a logical option with Tippett so raw). I imagine Maric will be more likely to come in before Tippett, unless we're looking to replace an underperforming forward...

Tippett palyed well for West Adelaide today

He's played well every game IIRC. Especially for a guy who has played 35 games of AFL in his life.

I would imagine that he's ahead of Ivan at the present time.

lolololol everytime we lose its 'sack perrie, kenny and whoever else and bring in the 18 yr old KP forwards who are no where near ready' time!

No.

This time it's 'everybody's injured and guys that are playing are struggling greatly with injury'
