It's same old story tho Mitch.. yes back in those days it was slot easier to keep your locals as the money wasn't offered out and the kids played for bugger all.. as Stanhope had a incredible run in the 3rds over a long period of time and a lot of those local kids such as, comer, Harrison x4, auld x2, trist, mason, haw x2, rowlands, stuck with the club for a long period of time with plenty of success.. but these days kids coming out of 3rds think they are a lot better than what they bloody are.. yes the clubs are to blame for offering $$$.. but that's were clubs are at with not a lot of local talent to get them the ultimate glory..
In saying that Roo, do you really want them if that’s all they are after? Let them go....
As a club, keep to your principles. This is why clubs like Stanhope, Lanky were strong. Stanhope did it brilliantly and always found that player they needed, yes it may have cost them $ but the locals were happy because winning big games is what you play for.

Players asking for more money doesn't fold clubs.
A lack of volunteers due to increasing workload/ loss of interest, despite what some say is the most common demise of a club.
Clubs can easily say NO to a players financial request and those with plenty of volunteers , who can source a similar player for less do exactly that.
Gosh Roar, the end to a 37 year drought hasn't helped your ability to read and respond to a post in its entirety. I've had a great time on the Richmond threads since the Grand Final, perhaps you should inject some of your suffering over there.

Funny that, I seen him running around at mooroopna training the other night!
Kyle Winter-Irving had a premiership team mate train with him at Seymour on Wednesday night, doesn't necessarily mean that he will be playing here. It seems to happen alot this time of year, guys tend to dip the toe into the next pool to see if its warmer.

Correct, but it came out in the paper the day after he trained at mooroopna that he'd signed at rochy! Blokes don't normally train elsewhere after they've signed at a club in the same comp! Will be interested to see what the out come will be with this young bloke.

Yeah big HTL dropping some kegs and putting the work in. Good on him, may not have the run of most key forwards but his one on one work and goal sense might see him sneak in, especially with the quality that has left the lions.

He's digging in and having a crack, good to see a player go up a level ultra, sick of seeing some taking the easy road and cash going the other way just because its easier.

Hey guys. First time poster on this thread. I’m interested to hear your views on the Stanhope footy club. What’s it like and are they looking ok for next year??
Beargrills welcome mate.. stanny footy club is a very passionate club very successful on and of the field in all grades.. great country family club that works hard to get the end results and that's those flags.. as for this year mate.. with what we have picked up ( which will be revealed very soon ) to what we have lost we will be a fair bit better off than last year.. we have picked up the players we were targeting plus a few more.. stay tuned for some announcements..
